Ok it's now 8 o'clock in the morning (in norway). I'll try something new. How about modeling texturing and animating a model from scratch within 8 hours.

Maya is running
Photoshop is running
winamp is running

Project medieval babe, here it goes.

i'm interested in seeing how this goes. I got a decent male medieval model spit out in an hour (with textures), but I go to school for digital animation, so that might help. Post pic when done please "Toga, Toga, Toga"

P.S. This is what the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

i can't remember howto model in Maya much... if i remember rightly though you can edit the polygons with polysplines right?

see if you can find a picture of a head real quick from the side and front ... Addin as a textured plain on the Axis - transparency the model and then set the cutting splines to the major features
probably the best advice i could give right now

Man I'm sooo glad you didn't stick gianormous breasts on her, A man with taste!!

hmmm but a girl with that shape needs some serious iliac crests (they're the bits of pelvis that stick out in front of the hips...)

should be as simple as dragging two to 4 vertices toward you from the edges of the hips, depending on your polycount.

Danmatsuma; I didn't quite understand, could you make a simple photoshop. I appreciate the help, though.

The head, basic shape, opinions?

Actually no even the simplest drawing is difficult since I broke my wrist, do a web search on anatomy+"iliac crest"

OR simply find a pic of actress Edie Sedgwick who had the finest examples ever... She had a similar figure to the one your hard at work on, thouugh i must say the women from medievil times were far more likely to be potatoe eating, toothless lard balls than the trim figured pilates instructor you're making

nice going kjetil, I like it when someone can back up their statement of intent with actual work.

well I spent about 8 hrs today lowering polycounts for all the models for my game and I said to myself "yeah this'll only take a 'couple hours" but you always run into problems don't you...

I kept trying to find why my models looked fine as a .max but when I exported .3ds the smoothing groups all messed up and the vertex count went up dramatically...
turns out that a .3ds exports the UVW vertex's and all I had to do was weld them in UVWunwrap...(thanx raven)

Ahh but you're using Maya, does it happen in that too if you export .3ds? just curious...

Hmm, too bad I was late reading this, I would have sujested that you make the torso, arms, and head a bit bigger, it looks kinda small compaired to the legs and hips. Not bad though, good job.

lol... it wasn't ment as any kinda insult - its just the guys here (and over at RGT) see a pretty poylgon and its like they fall over themselves to hyper-compliment

its a good achievement, but you know
you certainly have an interesting style for development

The American Sister site to here

and yeah you're style is quite interesting - i think you could go far with your skill given time (^_^)
you seem to have some good grasps of creation, but this being your 3rd model - then i'm guessing that you don't know Maya well enough yet to be truely comfortable.

however i can help but feel i recognise the style - you taking 3D at Uni? cause it does feel like a familar style, but something you'd expect more in 3DS Max
