will we be able to load 3ds in patch 4
i sure that 3ds models looked alot smoother than the .x ones and thats another thing...
how come with .x you have to have the
.x file
.dds file & THE BITMAP IMAGE
why can't you get a way with just the .dds file i mean, its massive, but it just turns my model red ti i load without the .bmp file!!
its just that these models are taking up a large proportion of my 10MB space for my retro game!!!!
and its really anoying [img][/img]

I have a word of advice...

No, 3DS will not be in Patch4, only in Patch5. 3DS can't look smoother than X models for the simple reason that every single time you load a 3DS file, DBPro internally converts it into an X object anyway. If anything it slows the process down slightly (but not much I admit).

The dds/bmp issue is dependant on the model construction, I have models here that use dds only.

Cheers,

Rich

DBPro internally converts it to a DBO object I thought - unless DBO and .X are the same thing exactly, which I doubt given that one is an all-in-one format (bones, the lot), the other is a standard mesh + textures format.

Apologies if this has been asked before but where can I get a hold of a .3ds -> .x converter?

(skulks back into corner now hoping not to feel too embarrassed at a later date )

www.deepexploration.com it is only a trial version though, but it works. Its a model viewer, that can convert any format into almost any other format.

Download the MilkShape 3D demo (search for milkshape 3d on Google)

There was a DBConv.exe program somewhere, maybe Rich can upload it to the downloads page on this website?
