Hey, my muzzleflares!

Looks pretty cool. I find it funny though how the enemy is holding an MP5 navy, and the player is using multiple WW2 weapons from various geographical locations (england/germany) Ok, so I am being picky. Keep up the good work sounds like you got most of the mechanics in. If you want more muzzleflares/explosions send me an e-mail here:

Great news! Smoke effect works beautifully when you throw a grenade or spray the ground with bullets! It actually looks professional!

Specs: Pentium 4 2.4 GHz, 512 mb RAM, GeForce FX 5600...

I got between 40 and 60 the whole time. I really like the smoke effects, but one thing I noticed was when I shot the tree, the plains you used would make the tree disappear and show the sky behind the tree Other than that great job!

Thank you.

Yah, I know about the bug, and I tried setting the transparency, but it didn't work. But I think I might know how to fix it.

Looks like it runs pretty good for you, except, if you want the best gameplay, it needs to run at 60, which is what I have it locked on.

great start Sam.I hope you finish it. things/bugs:

-if I were you I wouldn't use default net game
-camera range, the second parameter is a bit too short, for your level to look ok...
-collision isn't v.good,I could pass through that wooden bridge
-bullet firing feels a bit too fast, especially the way the gun jumps when you're zoomed

that said you've put some hard work into this, keep it up and it can reach commercial level. I'd be happy to help, but I'm sure you'll manage.

60fps
850 Mhz amd Duron

Thanks Yian. I'm surprised you can run it so good! My brother has a Geforce 5700, and he has to run it with the display settings all the way down and the resolution on 800x600. How is that possible!?

Anyways, glad it runs good. I'm not sure if I'll be changing the way the gun fires, but thanks for telling me.

Hmm, it's hard to tell. This is what I need to do:

Align hands to guns.
Finish effects (i.e. sun, muzzle flares, etc.).
Fix health system.
Add collision.
Perhaps develop world.
Other minor things.

I'd say, if I worked solid, it would take a week, but that's the problem. College gets to ya.

I'll try to finish it as soon as possible.

Yippee! Massive success! Health system fully working, and you can see the other player's bullets and it makes an effect of smoke and dirt clods when it hits the ground. The accuracy of eachother's bullets is VERY precise. That is, if you shoot at a crack in the ground, it will show almost or exactly the same on the other player's screen.

Next up, bullet flashes.

Hi there Uncle Sam.

I got 66 Frames Per Second, with all the graphics settings maxed out.

I'm running :

Windows XP Service Pack 2
Intel Pentium 4 - 3.40 GHz
2G RAM
nVidia GeForce 6800 256MB

I'm sure some of these things were already mentioned, but I'll just
tell you everything so I don't miss out anything

Suggestions :

- Some sort of HUD, showing AMMO and avaliable guns/gun selected.

- A Jump control, space bar would be best although I'm sure you'll add this.

- The sound of the footsteps needs some tweeking, it sounds like
I'm walking in a hall.

- Remove the sprint key, and instead make a walk key. If you're playing a fast-paced FPS, you'll want to be running, not walking. Unless you're trying to sneak up on somebody (maybe you could make the sound of running louder than the sound of walking to add a 'stealth' factor).

- As already mentioned, the see through tree problem when I shoot the trees.

- Improved menu, please add credits as player need to know who to contact to thank for this game Maybe also so better menu graphics but that not essential.

- When I press Esc, it quits the game; are you able to make it go back to the menu?

- Maybe add another screen that says "Please wait, the game is loading." when the user clicks play so it doesn't seem like it has frozen.

- The first gun does have a surprizing amount of 'kick', maybe this could be made so that when the player first starts firing the gun moves up quickly; but after they hold down the fire buttong for a while it moves up slower, and then just quickly moves up and down.

- The second gun should re-load as soon as the shot is fired, so the player doesn't have to wait for the gun to re-load when he really needs it to fire.

- As mentioned before, the player just walks straight through the bridge. And maybe the player shouldnĂ˝ start beneath the bridge - I got a little confused when I first loaded up the game (but that could just be me ).

- The hands will be a good addition, and will make the game seem alot more realistic .

- Lastly, some kick ass music for the menu

I know most of my suggestions are just little things, which probably won't make a huge difference to the overall game play.

I can't wait to be able to test a multiplayer version.

It's great to see what can be achieved with Dark Basic. Keep up the
great work. I've add this post to my favorites so I'll be checking
back as much as I can.

@danielp Thanks so much. Sorry for not posting back, it's been spring brreak ya know...I needed rest. Great suggestions, and in reply...

-Hud I will add for sure.

-You're right, jump for sure.

-I agree with the footsteps part, I just haven't got atound to looking for a good sound effect.

-I hadn't thought about the sprinting part...good idea...stealth too...

-I have fixed the tree problem

-I'm not sure if I wil change the menu graphics, but I will definately add credits.

-Will make it go back to main menu when escape is pressed.

-Please wait? Yah, I know..I jsut had some trouble. But don't worry, I will be adding. People might do control+alt+delete if they think it froze!

-Hmm, interesting...I'll consider fixing the gun.

-The reload problem I beleive I have fixed as well, it's just becasue you have a much older version of the game.

-I kind of liked the idea of spawning under cover underneath the bridge, but rest assured...there will be collision!

-I have great hands made by Agent Dink, just having trouble alligning them.

-Music...definately.

Thanks again. This is the kind of feedback I needed. I'm glad you could run it max like me.

@DB newbie: I'll try maybe, but it will be difficult.

EDIT: progress continues again today after my rest! I've almost finished, thanks to IanM, a timer system so that the game will run the same speed on all computers!

Credits up and running completely, and timer system almost 100% complete. The credits don't scroll though, that's only necessary if its pages long.

Still having trouble alligning the hands. I would edit it in Anim8or, but the file is .x Agent Dink, you might get an email soon.

What a week of work this will be! Hopefully I'll be able to get a lot done, seeing as I have a lot of spare time...for now

Hi Uncle Sam,

It's great to see this making so much progress!

I can't wait to test out the next demo !

I wish I was able to help you, but I really don't have much skills
with and 3D/Game programs .

I'll be sure to check back often .

Gun models are from Dark Matter 1.

Thanks for the support. Next up, finish timer system, and finish diplay menu so that it affects all of the graphics. Then after that, I will probably try adding collision.

No new screens at the moment, since I'm adding and fixing things not visible in a screenshot.

Sun effect works! I decided to do it first. Check it out; the sun gets bigger when you look at it:

As you can see in the third image, the sun is partially behind the landscape. I'll be fixing that soon.
