Washed out? You mean thin? Well, That's because of the transparancy. I tried using set alpha mapping on, but it was black around the sides, so I had to use ghost object.

Agent Dink, you're in the art and special thanks sections of the credits. Thanks again for you help.

EDIT: By the way, there only are two layers.

Oh, looks like 3, maybe thats part of the skybox then. Perhaps try a few more layers? Or.... Maybe put an alpha mapped blurry white circle behind it to brighten up the sun effect. I thought that ghosting it would keep it bright, but maybe its because your skybox is too dark.

Thanks for the credits stuff!

Hand aligning going well now that I have it in .3ds format. The hands for the automatic are aligned completely:

And the hand for the enfield is almost done, I just need to edit it and clamp the hand a little tighter:

Thanks again Agent Dink for the hands.

Hmm, I think the Enfield is simply too small, make it bigger before you mod the hand, because the Enfield looks puny compared to the MP40.

Try using:
SET OBJECT TRANSPARENCY Object Number, 4
and then set the alpha level.

But yeah looks very good....hehe especially the micro enfield !

or keep them there but make it look like its bending at the elbow, like, pull the part of the arm closest to the camera down a bit while keep the hand and everythign in the same place

Yeah, I think you should make less of the arm visible. Firstly, move it back on the front of the gun, its a little too close to the end. Secondly rotate it down a bit, then if there is still too much showing, bend it like TDP said. And the Enfield is still small

Thanks for the suggestions.

Still to small? Maybe it's because it's in a resized screenshot. It doesn't look small in the game.

Yeah, the hand does look small compared to the arms,
but it could just be perspective.

I agree with moving the arms back abit, the more of
the surronding scenery we can see, the less likely we
will of being shot .

Your making good progress Uncle Sam, I'll be sure to
download your next demo when it comes out.

keep up the work! I played the demo, all that I would sugest though is to make the guns shoot faster, and have more shapes for bullet holes,
btw, try bending the elbo alil bit

don't worry, I'll be right here, just incase you start choking...

Maybe the Enfield size is ok now, but I suggest angling the arm down a bit, because the camera distorts the arm as it gets close to the camera and makes it look bigger than it really is. But the Enfield is probably pretty close to the correct size now on second thought.

I keep putting off fixing that, but I probably will fix it soon.

I keep forgetting to add it. And I'm also afraid there will be trouble, because the inside of the bullet hole is black, so it might be transparent inside.

No it shouldn't. So long as you don't modify the texture, the bullet hole will retain its transparency. Just set the objects transparency to 4 (I think) in your code. I made the texture with alpha channel transparencies in my paint program and saved the .PNG with the alpha channels. I do it all the time on my computer, works great!

Ok, I'll try.

EDIT: Works great, looks great! I might make it so that it's brown when it hits wood, light brown on the terrain, etc. but I dunno, it might be hard.

If you do that, use the set object diffuse commands and stuff, don't modify the original image, it will ruin the transparency (I think)

You may have to use a combination of set object diffuse, emissive, and wahtever else is similar, can't remember them all off hand... The sun looks alot better! What would even be greater though, is if it occlueded the gun too!

Thanks. Don't worry, it will cover the gun. It doesn't right now because I have the effect positioned away from the player.

And the bullet holes I've decided to remain the same, because, whether it's wood or terrain, it should always be black because it burns into it.

By the way, good news! I'll fix the sun and then post a demo, unless you can't wait.

EDIT: I'll also need a tester to test the game with me over a connection that is not local. So anyone who wants to help, let me know and tell me your specs.

I just figured something out though. We might not be able to do it, because of firewalls, etc., so this game might have to be a local area connection, which works. But we can try. Do you have msn messenger?

Hi There Uncle Sam,

Just to let you know, I downloaded that second version but it
didn't seem to work, just like the virst one.

Maybe you might be able to make a program to test if the computers
can connect, that way you'd know that everything worked.

If you want to try again, just send me an email

Thanks pal.

Sun image was drawn by Agent Dink. I added it in by making three copies of it in the game, one smaller than the other to make a ring, and then the third behind both to make it bright. To make it scale and get big when you look at it, I simply find the distance between the sun's center and the point the player is looking at using intersectobject, and scale it using the difference.

Danielp, I think we can try again now. I made it so you could add the IP address by typing it in after you press play.

I guess I might, but what is a tuto?

@Danielp: ok.

@Everyone:
You know, since Danielp and I are in such vastly different time zones, we are having trouble fining time to test the game, so if anyone else wishes to volunteer, I will be welcome to them, if they are what I am looking for.

Also, my progress has temprarily halted because I don't know where to go until I test the game with someone. But I will be posting up a video of the game today if I can figure out how to get sound to work in FRAPS. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

1- The mouvement is too slow
2- There is no collision
The player is walking through the walls like or !!

3- The Multiplayer part doesn't work !!!

But the help that I need from u is the Multiplayer I've done an very simple FPS an I wana make the Multiplayer Part !!
Ok !!! and with a messenger is more effecient than an Forum cause with a messenger we can ask and answer many question in brief time not like forum !!!
So if u don't wana give me your address !! make an other one that u can give or let do one for you !! Just to talk with people !!!

Ok, thanks for the suggestions. I'll fix the movement, and the collision I'm working on now. And the multiplayer part does work, locally.

Speaking of multiplayer though, I don't think you realize how difficult it is. Like I said in another thread, you need to start with a non-multiplayer game. I'm telling you, it's no easy task! It took me ages to get the bullet system working, sending over bullet data for each one, and player position, angle. I don't want to discourage you, but any help I would give you would just be doing it for you, at least at this stage. How about taking that "very simple FPS" and making it advanced?

If you have any trouble, just ask, but I earnestly suggest that you stick to a non-multiplayer game for now.

p.s. Oh yeah, no need for so many "!!!!".
