I'm still using the DBP demo, and for some reason when I turn on Shadow Mapping, it doesn't do anything on my home PC with a GeForce4 mx440 card, yet it works on my PC at work that uses onboard video (but slow). very strange. I know its the demo so I imagine its prolly not very up to date.

I'd say it is. I have the same problem running the demo version w/ a GeForce4 MX and Soundblaster Live!. I found the workaround is to remove the code relating to reflection mapping (somewhere above the main loop).

I hope this helps, but it seems to me that even if a card doesn't support this feature it should simply not add it rather than fail completely.

Well, thats basically what it does, if just doesn't add it, instead of failing completely. Which is good. But its strange because I would imagine a G4MX would have shadow mapping support.

it isn't a bug ... its the fact your using a GeForce4 Mx rather than a Ti

there isn't anything else to say about it - the GeForce4 Mx is just obscenely cutdown ... you actually get more features on a GeForce3 than you do with a GeForce4 mx, the only real benifit is the speed and price - which isn't that much greater.
