i'll be honest... i didn't expect much from this... from time to time i choose a game done by someone here, and download it to take a look... just to sorta gauge the state of progress with fpsc, and see what people are doing with it... most of these wind up being nothing more than a senseless series of too long unnecessary tunnels, populated with the stock models, with the basic ai bots trying either to kill you, or walk through a wall... a Basic Training tutorial on how to move around a fps level didn't really seem like it would be much of anything different...
but i decided to look at it anyways, and not to prejudge anything sight unseen... the last FPSC project that i thought had any real potential or creativity was Lon's Pencil Whipped...
your Basic Training demo is the second...
i found the short training level well done... well textured and well lit... the voice over was excellent... and the 'gameplay' kept me interested and engaged... a lil challenge in every room...
the only real flaw was in one of the first rooms you enter, the door slid up through the glass window... but aside from that, i actually enjoyed this... you've got the right formula for a successful engaging game... i think it's time you start work up a full multilevel game... with the intentions of selling it.
this was verrrrrry well done AE... a pleasant surprise...
thx for the demo
oh yeah, when i got near the end, in the area with the instructor dude talking, i shot through the window and killed him
one question... are you using bumpmapping as well as lightmapping, and if so, how long did it take for fpsc to produce the level?
thx
again... fun level...
