I like the sky,its beautiful!
the terrain is not bad but isnt your game not too jung to show?
Try to end a part,like a town(for sure there will be one) and when its finish the way you want it then show it and for sure you will get better critics.
About the storyline: i like it!,sounds like the storys of those nice snes rpg games that i liked and still like games.
but if the people just disapear in the middle of night and you just walk with a camera..well..would it not be a little bit too boring?
try adding more details to the story like:people disapears and strange creatures came and soo on,our player will have to fight his way trough monters and undefined creatures to find the true and how many levels will there be,how will the game looks like wich featus you are planning to integrate etc etc.
its just too little what you give to comment.

The goal is not to make something and ask for comments but to end something AND THEN ask for comments

Thats the best comment i´ve seen on the whole www .

@diego,
Some standing grass sprites would give that scene the needed crisp.

I've noticed your posts on many threads (and whilst possibly well intentioned) they have a habit of coming across negative.

With regards to the quoted comment, trust me this isn't how design or development works, if people can't be free to bounce ideas off of one another then what is the point? It's easier to identify and solve problems early on than it is later down the line.

@ Diego - Nice storyline and pic, it sets the overall ambience well.

Good luck and looking forward to seeing more.

Cheers, Rich.

First of all,sorry for getting off-topic.

@Opus Games,
I do understand what you mean.
Let me add that (most)everyone using FPSC is a Solo developer,so the best way would be lets say,finish a room the way you want it to be and then ask for comments,that way every new idea can be compared with the old cause in this case,its your idea that counts, all other things are just this little things that would make it looks better (if).
Like the hill,looks finished but with grass sprites would looks better imo.

I agree,to a certain point,when defining what do you call negative.

The way I see it is that FPSC attracts a wide range of people of all ages and I will always take the default stance of applauding effort where I see it regardless of the end result.

Game concepts are rarely anything more than a one page synopsis and it is often this that determines whether a project will progress, artwork of any nature is often a few steps down the line. Diego has provided us with a brief outline of what he is trying to accomplish accompanied by a screenshot (however limited) that helps to set the scene.

Admittedly it is hard to offer constructive criticism on what is shown but what we can do (if interested in what he is showing) is to offer motivation for him to continue.

If I was many years younger, then I too would probably be showing off my early work in the hope of getting some positive reaction. I feel this enthusiasm should be fostered.

In terms of negativity not all of your posts seem to offer a balance of problems & solutions (if I'm wrong then I'll gladly retract that statement) it's just the overall sense I've got from reading your posts.

The (professional) industry is full of cynicism and it can be somewhat demoralising. Criticism is always easy to give and hard to take, and I guess that is the root of what I'm trying to say.

Cheers, Rich.

And..I do completly understandstand your point.
I must agree that also i was like that in my beginning stages and just beeing hard isnt the good way,in fact,when i think back i can almost feel that enthusiasm back in those times and how i wanted to show every single thing i made,because it was made by me!
Yes,I do agree this should be supported and also that my way wasnt/isnt the best way although it was not my goal to put someones work down.

Thanks for..ya know what i mean!

please stop going off topic. this post is for people who have comments on the screenshots, so frankly whoever is having a bitch fit please go away or come back when you have cooled down. im sure diego would get pissed off at this.

anyways... thats a nice village youve got there diego. try and make most of the houses unique, because most people just copy and paste. if you have 3d world studio maybe you could design the houses from that.

I really find this weird that this get's reconition and its not new, just like my stuff it's boring and plain, the skybox he got from stock, the hills arent his and the house looks weird, it's to broght for the type of game your trying to pull off, WW2 games are not bright, they have dark textures and lighting in limited areas, I know that the house isn't done but its way to bright... nobody but a few people here have an idea that will make it, I bet you'll look at the overall product and go "i've could've done better" and scrap it and nobody will remember it... what im trying to say is that you'er going the wrong way for the project your doing, try playing the types of games that are in the field in which your game is in and study it, get the basic gameplay mech. down and lvl layout and you'll do fine, but this is all weird and it doen't look good to me but maybe you'll show me wrong : )

I will be here when im there when there is there on a saturday afternoon there
