Go read some psychology books, there is no point any1 having a 1 look / mind-set towards one perspective. I could sit here and prove to you why women will feel attraction for jerks but frankly I run short of time, have a busy night

The best thing to be is a nice guy and a bad boy. Be a bastard, but at the end of the day, be someone they can rely on.

I exercise this technique successfully by constantly pushing my girlfriends down the stairs and then paying for all medical expenses. Works like a charm.

Another good technique is to tell them that they're hideously ugly, but you'd still do them. Putty in your hands ....

I think some women are drawn to jerks. They may not like their jerk boyfriend or husband, but there is a draw. However, being a jerk to a girl when you meet her will scare her away.

Now, saying every woman is like that is ridiculous. And, trying to apply that principle in an online game programming forum is ridiculous. And, I could go and on about how cool I am and how much of a mack daddy I am and how my techniques of getting women are better than everyone elses, but there's no way for any of us to know if any of it is true, so what's the point? Let's compare games.

@Fallout - Haha. That's how I keep my women in check.

I find it interesting that there is considerable effort put into understanding the gender-specific psychology when looking to meet someone. Can't you just sort of stick with universal human likes and dislikes and sort out the confusing stuff after you've got the phone number? Correct me if I'm wrong though, I just got the phone number and I'm working on the rest .

By the way, my parents met through a phone dating service. They're definitely not in the eccentrically lonely or nerdy category. My dad is an engineer, and basically the story is his mom wanted to see him married and he wasn't finding anybody he liked to she set him up. My mom then is occasionally hit on by guys younger than her. Semi-normal people. Online dating just currently has a bad rep, and so maybe more of the eccentrically lonely are concentrated in it until it becomes more mainstream.

@General Sephiro

I didn't say that patting people is rude. I said patting people on the head in the incredibly condescending manner you used in your previous post was rude.

Well not every woman wants exactly the same thing, but there are definatly wide spread wants that most women want.

Quote: "The best thing to be is a nice guy and a bad boy. Be a bastard, but at the end of the day, be someone they can rely on. "
That's my aproch, but I usually am a little more on the Jerk side of the divide.

That's a little extreme though. That's like saying <<Oh, ya I killed my girlfreind. But I did through her a very nice funeral>>.

Ya, I've noticed that girls are really sensitive about their heads. Apparently they don't like getting backhanded. And just so that you know, the nail thing sounds kinky.

Hey, whatever you do at the club is up to you. However, try that at work. I'm not talking about McDonalds, I'm talking about a real job. Walk in the door, and start patting every woman on the bottom within 2 minutes of talking to them and see what happens to you. You'd be back at McDonalds being the BigMac Daddy again. Ah... freedom...

At work, I never cross that line. There are plenty of females elsewhere for me to occupy my time with. At work, I want my peers and subordinates to work at maximum efficiency. If I cross that line, performance will drop. Either they'll feel uncomfortable, or having crossed that line I will have lost my legitimate authority over them.

It's called sexual harassment.

Now, with Tinkergirl, you did cross that line. This is not the club. She's here to program and make games and talk about that, not to get spanked and pick up guys. Any reference to that simply undermines what she's really about.

I've missed this whole thread up untill now, so I'm just gonna throw in my few points:

1) Matt Rock is lying 100%.

2) General Sephiro's self-proclaimed sexual prowess is about as real as my affair with Angelina Jolie.

*pats Philip on the head* Loos'n up U always take things soo seriously?

Megaton really you know Angelina Jolie? Frankly I don't care, i'm not the BEST with women but i'm certinally not the worst.

Tonight for example, I was out just to have a few quiet drinks, dance with a couple hot babes just having a good time. I as usual patted them on the head for saying blonde things, but ended the night not getting them back into bed with me, but with a simple "It was nice meeting you" with a handshake and some #'s. Despite what many of you guys may think of me i'm just out for a good time with some friends but if one thing leads to another it does, if not it doesn't make a difference. I'm still very drunk . Argh.. work tommorow.. need to sleep this off...

Side note, I personally think Manticore Night may be the only guy here that actually understands the simple physiological differences between men and women.

Keeping it on topic though, internet date services, I don't see what the big deal is, i don't care if people use those services, i'm happy enough heading out with a few buddies, having a few drinks and seeing what happens.

Sephiro - If I saw you disrespect any of my friends the way you insist on disrespecting Tinkergirl and Philip irl, you would be lain flat in less than a second. Now you're entitled to your opinion as much as everyone else around here, but no one disrespected you, so you do not need to disrespect others.

If someone patted me on the head IRL I'd break their arm. It's condescending. If you type something condescending on the internet, it doesn't magically become okay.

Ok, I thought that keeping quiet, this off-topic train of thought that I kicked off would die out. It hasn't

So here's the thing, Sephiro, we obviously have different opinions on the correct behaviour towards women, and obviously different viewpoints - and while neither of us will probably ever 'convert' to the other's opinions on the correct behaviour, I'd like to offer to let bygones be bygones and politely let the matter drop.

This is, after all, the forum for a business and as such isn't really the best place to be having heated discussions on social behaviour and 'What the other gender wants'. As was mentioned, I'm here to program, and talk about games. Don't get me wrong, I've learned a lot from this thread deviation that I won't soon forget, but I think it's overstayed its welcome.

So, I'd like to ask if we can let it drop. Return the thread to the original topic, or - if it's not a popular enough subject to warrant it - let it drop off the front page through lack of interest.

Thanks to those who shared similar views on social behaviour, I hope you see why I think this is a finished topic.

Be cool about what, exactly?
I just find it funny that you have a bunch of people sitting around throwing comments at each other about online dating which APU has turned into a slagging match for the most part; about a service of online dating which HELLO has been around for atleast 7-8years I can remember.

I mean who honestly is more sad.. the people who are using these online versions of contact ads; which have been around for years, or the lil peons who feel they have an opinion about it and are going to spend countless time in the wee-hours of the morning on a programming forum of all bloody places discussing it in a less than civil mannor?

I'm going to just sit here, and after that suggestive picture; grab a can... and continue to laugh my ass off.

Hey, this thread isn't too far off. It started off about online dating and relationships, and we've been talking about the same basic thing ever since. Problems have arisn, resolutions reached, development continues. And, we now know that online dating will destroy nerds. It's been quite a journey.

We all wish. It's a fate worse than death - nerd dads not possessing the latest in nerd technology. Rather, nerd dads possessing huge families, buying onesies and baby food rather than broadband modems and Ipods. We'll be beta testing cheaper diapers rather than Windows Vista.

Mr. Darcy, from Pride and Prejudice--- ahh, nevermind.

It just seems to me like that may have went out with the turn of the 19th century. Probably more of a geeky thing to do, or something you would do when you're on an interview. I dunno, maybe it's a cultural difference, because over here if you dance with a hottie then shake her hand after, she will secretly classify you as a nerd and tell all of her friends. But hey, whatever keeps you single.
