I agree, it has been really chugging lately...

At first I thought it was my Internet connection here at Uni is being split between so many computers that everything's going slow... Then I realized "Hey, it's 4-bloody-am, who in their right mind is using the net at this hour!?"

So... Yeah

I also find the site goes down quite a bit aswell, or only the top banner of forum appears and rest doesn't bother loading.

Not been too bad last few days though.

Im on 512K, seems perfectly normal - infact, it is comparitively fast and loads the important stuff first unlike most sites.

It's okay browsing, but when posting it grinds to a halt.

I'm in the same position as Sunrise there...
I've got a fast connection here, and can download at up to about 1.5MBytes/s, so connection speed ( on my behalf ) certainly isn't the issue!

And, I get the issue Spooky mentioned - 'tis weird, I thought only I got it though

Its mainly becouse of signature pictures, if those were forbidden, it would run much faster, my suggestion is to deny image sigs in the future.

It's probably location--- i.e. only the Europeans seem to have trouble with the site. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary since the servers were moved to NA.

Yeh, now I think about it I have signature images disabled in my profile. That's probably why I can't make a cuppa between thread views.

For me it isn't the case that it's slow, it's that it either loads pretty much instantly, or freezes for quite a while before loading at all.

Yeah it's fast then slow, then fast, and posting is nearly always slow. Sometimes the site does not load properly.

I experience the same thing as Benjamin. Of course, I'm also on a wireless router (Netgear ) so that may be why, but it seems to happen on just this site more than any others.

Wasn't too many newsletters ago that Rich mentioned an online game he'd taken a liking too. I get the feeling his laptop can't cope with running that AND the forum. Explains the randomness.

Not really slow here 512k cable but i have noticed and this happens quite a bit at least to me, i click a thread read and use back to go back to the main category and the screen is just grey and never loads. Doesn't matter how long i wait i've gone outside smoked a ciggy and came back still just grey have to reopen explorer and it works fine. At first i though it might be explorer but it seems to be exclusive to this site since i view a couple 3d modeling forums and one game forum and no problems on those.

I am on a wireless router, in the UK with half-broadband and the pages load in 0.25 seconds to 0.5 seconds with no exceptions. You should stop downloading DVDS at the same time.

I think I may get that computer!

All idiotic jokes aside...

My internet connection is definatly not the problem.
Neither is the fact that people have sig-images... I have them disabled in my profile, so I don't load a single one.

The thing is, half the site seems to come out ( The top banner ), then the rest just gives up...

Basically, THIS SITE is the problem, not any of our connections!

The forum subdomain is hosted by "layered tech" and the www.thegamecreators.com is hosted by pair networks. Now, given how much Rich has raved about Pair Networks in the past, I imagine layered tech are just a cheaper provider - because the forum eats through so much bandwidth.

Cheaper Provider = slower/less reliable

I could be wrong, but that explanation makes sense to me.

During the recent few days it's safe to say, for me at least, that I've encountered no problems.

This problem seems to happen mostly on weekends for me. Then again that´s when I mainly use the forum. Does it affect anyone in then US? Might only affect people outside the country whee the server is.
