half-life 2 is not scary.its fun. i love zombies.more than most things.doom3-not scary.stupid, satanic, but not scary. perhaps the only thing scary about that was the sheer amount of pentigrams in that game.

i'd say silent hill 2 because i played it in the dark with the pyramid heads....

all ben needs is his band, his guitar, and his computer...
and his dead little power puff girls...

maybe just skip the VR and develop the technology to skip to an alternate dimension where such things are real, very realistic, but no save points

yea, it was a ver advanced game for its time, i didnt play it till it was fairly old, and on gameplay, a massive 10/10, it is a brilliant game, but just not one that id call scary, it had jumpy moments yea, but it didnt have you fearfull to walk round the next corner, or wanting a break to calm down for a bit, which is what id call a scary game.

For me, the first truly scary game which I played was the original "Alone in the Dark". Try playing that with the volume turned all the way up, in the dark at night, without knowing what was going to happen next.

What used to particularly freak me out was when the background sound would suddenly produce one of those howls.

I also liked doom3. I'm looking forward to getting the Cthulhu game - maybe that is my Easter gone.

Looking at the Radeon 9550, and really it is comparable to my Nvidia 5200. Well according to the reviews that I read, they are more or less the same. Are you sure that it will run Fear OK?

Maybe I should go for a better card like the 9800.

@pincho, depends how much money you got to spare. Personally I would save up for a better computer with pci-e support than buy a new agp now. PCI-e cards are much cheaper and better, agp is being phased out.

If you got a spare £200 get this:

I wouldn't recommend anything else, simply because all of the other GF cards in the £30-190 range are only 128mb-bit memory (on this site anyway). What you need is a vid card with 128mb ram or over and 256-bit ot higher. NEVER buy a card that has the bit rate LOWER than the total ram (I.e 512mb and 256-bit memory) for they are dog slow no matter how high the memory. If they don't display it, don't ever buy it.

I think I like the NVidia GForce 6800. It's just £125 now. Runs Doom really well.

The Sims, of course.
After leaving for a few min my 'sim' managed to kill the entire family by burning the house down. Makes you realize how fragile we are... a little well placed match... and all we worked for goes away.

Spin the bottle with yo momma. lol. No actually it was the playstation one game Space Griffon VF9. I was 10 when I played it but it was a pretty scary game to me with aliens and weird things popping out of obscene places. Plus on top of that everything was dark and it was very suspenceful.

Phantasmagoria was the only game that ever scared me. Games like Resident Evil and Halflife were supposed to be scary but thus far have utterly failed at making me so much as jolt. The original Silent Hill was pretty good, too... I was startled a few times playing that. But Phantasmagoria actually gave me nightmares, making it the ONLY thing in games or television or movies to ever actually "scare" me. Either I'm not easily scared, or more likely, I'm too busy thinking about how it was made. I'm that obnoxious guy in a group of friends who says stuff like "Ha! The MP5 doesn't sound like that!" while watching movies Plus, I don't believe in ghouls and ghosts so I have a hard time getting into horror movies/ games.

Doom 3 was lame gameplay and feardom wise. The opening scenes were pretty interesting, I'll give you that, and the sense of immersion was decent (all the PDA stuff and whatnot) but then it was ruined by a zombie jumping out of what looked suspiciously like a broom closet.

I think the nail gun is called the HK Penatrator or something like that. I don't really remember where it is but you can get it in both singleplayer and multiplayer demos. It shoots huge white/silver bullets that stick out of walls and can pin people by the head, arms, legs or whatever it hits. Plus if it doesn't kill you it leaves the nails poking out of you which can be very amusing. And yes FEAR eats your computer alive, I had to have all the graphics at the lowest possible for it to run, i have an nVidia FX 5200, and my comp has 712mb of RAM.
