im making a zombie doctor right now

im just finishing texturing it, its looking pretty nice, hopefully i can get it in game and with the zombie biped by myself soon

...*sigh* not much discussion going on in this thread, i really dont want it to die, dont the people who have bought it have any comments? or suggestions for vol. 2?

i'll get a screen of that zombie model up soon, it might be going in CorePak Vol. 2

Hi Jon,

Been playing with the pack a little. Have to say they're all great models. If you're soliciting comments and suggestions I guess the only thing I can say (besides they're great) is that I notice some of the bullet decals don't quite match up. For instance the canopy over the hot dog stand sparks when you shoot it, but the bus and some other metal objects don't. And standing under the hot dog stand the canopy is invisible looking up. Couple of times I got stuck on top of the bus and couldn't move or jump off for some reason, not sure why.

All very minor things, nothing I could complain about. Just mentioned it since you asked. I'm happy enough with the pack I'll be in line for #2.

As for suggestions for #2, maybe part of it could be office themed. Floor lamps, coffee tables, office type couches and chairs, a quarter circle counter for a corner (jumpable, of course), a wall mounted TV, that sort of thing.

Anyway, great stuff. Looking forward to the next one. By the way, they look good in Torque, too.

ok, thanks for the comments, the material settings may be strange, crow sorted the conversion for me, so im not sure whether he set some of the material settings wrong..

the hotdog stand with the invisible look from below, may be due to the culling, if you can disable it in a way for that object, then thats sorted

i'll be making a lot of new stuff for vol. 2, infact ive begun on some characters!

for instance, as i am replying, i hav just finished making my zombie model (everyone seems to be crazed on horror games) and just finsihed texturing it, the hard work is over

it looks very nice, attached is a preview

btw, can you post some screens of them in torque, i would like to see them if possible?

Good looking Zombie, Jon. With the right walking animation it could look quite formidable coming at you.

I really hate to show other software on someone's forum, just doesn't seem ethical. I'll try to have some screenies up in Showcase over at our place by tomorrow night.

ah, its alright, were allowed to go off topic for a couple posts, its really no biggy, if we werent allowed to see external software, we would never learn competition.

plus, it would bump this thread...which needs some bumps

lol, thanks, thats what i really need, there seems to be little interest anymore, but its only been about 10 days since release i think

well, anyway, i may aswell keep this up for a couple more days then leave the advertising for my signature...

btw, today, after realising how stupid it would be to buy 3DWS for £40 ( ) i got out farcry and UT2004 and ive started some tutorials on UnrealED and CryEngine Sandbox, which i must say is alot better, easy (when you get to know it) and free, not ridicously priced

if the lightmaps export well, then i can use CE sandbox and UnrealED to make commercial quality environments for FPSC, assuming they can handle the amount stuff placed in

hehe, bump, this'll be the last i should think, though im going to post progress of Vol. 2 in here from now on

NEW RENDER

i finished the fat zombie model and applied the zombie biped, it looks fairly nice, not as good as the first zombie i dont think though...but its still cool

ive also included a video of the zombie walking aniamtion for whoever wants to see, check it out...

Its a good model jon.

I have to comment on the head, hands and feet though. The texture on the head is not symmetrical. The hands look way to big. The feet look like hand shovels.

If you tesalate small areas where the model looks unnatural, you will get much better effects for the animation. I have been testing this out on my own models. But what I also find useful, is to mesh smooth the mesh with 1 iterations. This gives near enough the same effect, which is in all the better way.

off topic:
i got bored of my desktop background again, so i spent 3 hours yesterday making this in photoshop from scratch ... (attached)

lol, i bet in a couple weeks i'll have to make another one

tell me what you think, it looks great on my laptop background (1280x800)

i dont think ive ever needed to texture hair, lol, let alone make it, you just made me realise that all my character models so far are bald or have helmets/balaclavas etc.

i might have to give it a go soon, i assume its not that hard...

Quote: "im gonna get your pack soon k love all those models looks realy good

cool, thanks in advance

i cant wait untill summer holidays, having ended school forever and moving on to a game design course in college (where i'll learn more about 3ds max, lol) i'll have some decent time to finish CorePak Vol. 2 and start my game...

heres a render of a soldier model i made for 'The Evo Projects'

although its a basic concept and im going to re-do it, he's holding a custom weapon i made, which will also be remade, i have drawn up some nice concepts aswell

work still needs to be done, i dont think i'll ever be satisfied with the media for this game, let alone i dont think im ready to develop it but ive been designing it for around 3 years now

(that model has some high and multiple textures, along with a polycount exceeded quite bad, so its in for the remaking either way)

thanks, though ive got an updated concept and some better skills now, so i hope to take another wack at it soon, when i get my scanner working and get some concepts uploaded

CorePak Vol. 2 will have plenty of all round stuff, so, its about all games though so far mostly zombies, and im going to create some 'tech' soldiers and some monsters, aswell as NPC's, Knight and some other people, aswell as plenty of entities and animated weapons (also swords etc.)

i recently started playing oblivion, that game is freakin' amazing, ive never seen such an amazing RPG, i love going around in the main city at night and picklocking the shop doors and stealing everything I would love to see someone make a game like oblivion, and i would love to get into modelling the type of architecture in that game, its truly beautiful

i wish the best of you also, and the rest of us on the forums, who have dedicated time into games development, its a great art when you look at games such as oblivion

sorry liz, i left it sending but my browser crashed, and i just got home to find it like that, i'll re send now, unless it didnt crash, and you got the delivery, confirm it now, otherwise im sending now

i'll be sending to 'Shawn Zwicker' straight afterwards, thanks for your purchase

btw people, i'll upload an UnrealED map screenshot i made from a tut soon, looks nice so far (and costs less than 3DWS)

i also noticed that 3DWS uses the pretty much EXACT same methods as unrealED, from the demo, ive seen that 3DWS is basically kinda like a down-graded easier version of UnrealED (even though uneralED is easy)

GTK Radiant is just like the Unreal editor. It uses brush work to build the maps. Plus Radiant is totally free, and if you can convert .map files to 3ds, or any other file 3d max can import, your sorted.

yeh, i suppose, though ive always been interested in the Unreal franchise, and UT2004 would be a nice game to mod, or make levels for (even if it is outdated now)

it can export .obj files, ive downloaded the OBJ2MAX plugin for max, so as quoted, im 'sorted' havnt tested, but its bound to export the lightmaps

mapping has become very interesting to me these past days, although creating models is inspiring and artistic, what better than making artistic environments

I love making maps. But if you do to many you'll end up running out of good ideas. If you think UT 2004 is out dated for mapping, try enemy territory, thats really old, released back in 2002.
