Here's the title screen for JetPac2003

I'm thinking of having the jetdude shooting the robot dude with his laser guns ..... so the gap in the middle would get filled up with a redish ploom + the blast effect on the robot.

Still thinking on it, which is why I posted it up now ( feedback )

Very Very high poly models.

The coloured Particles don't fit in.

Other than that, it's really good!

Cheers.

I like it, but it just seems like the jetpac guy is standing in mid-air.
I know there's no leg movement in the old game, you might be keeping this idea, however, it's like he's standing on a ledge or something.

If this doesn't make sense, it's because it's now 1:53am and i have had a very long day.

Lol.

It doesn't because he is going up, not down

So the legs are allright.

The only problem would be when he would be going down.

Other than that, it looks gr8t.

Cheers.

Very pretty indeed, I too think his legs shouldn't be quite in the stance for a salute but it's a darn site prettier than my Jetpac's main screen so I shouldn't criticize!

I think if you do animate the firing, you might feel the need to animate the characters too, perhaps have them as a few frames of .avi under the red ploom effect? Otherwise it might end up looking wrong with just part of the screen animated.

Anyway looking at the quality of this screen I think it's safe to say you've made sure it was better than the Banshee Jetpac entry! So it's just as well i've got a few more cards up my sleeve yet *gulp*

The Jet dudes legs do move in-game.... and I'm going to move his legs on this title screen too. ( thanks for that )

The nebular in the background is from one of the in-game levels.... but again, I might take that out and ADD a laser firing shot at the robot.

PiratSS >> you seem to suffer with a polycount problem !! so what do you class as very, very high poly ?? These are not for a DOS game ya know ! they are for a DBpro game... there not as high poly as you may think.

At any given one time.... there are 5x worms on screen + 10x blob monsters + ix jetdude + 3 sections of the rocket ships + the .X terrain. ALL on screen at once... with no slow down or lag. in 1024x768 full screen mode with my spec below I get a steady 66 - 70 fps and this will be SET to lower than this with the game release.

This is the year 2003, with half decent spec PC's out there... not 1986 with Cyrex 166mhz chips struggling to play the basic of games where the main character has a square head !!

Anyways... thanks for your input. I'll replace this pic with the updated version just as soon as.

@Eponick >> most of it we still have about 2 weeks left... so we are going to take advantage of the time given and NOT rush it just to get it in early. Just to think to ourselves "Damn" we could have added this/that.

As soon as it's ready I'll be uploading it to my website for download.... and we will let you all know.

Hehe !! I'll be flipping the DarkBASIC pyramid around the correct way too.

LOL !! thanks.... but we just wanted to make sure it was as nice looking and fun to play as possible ( not to make sure it was better than your version )

We have gone for a cartoony feel ( complete with the soundFX to go with it )

I won't be animating the title screen... just going to add a static laser FX

Well..... should have it up onto my downloads page my monday ( compo deadline 1pm Monday 7th April )

Full release

Then.... a few weeks later we will release a level editor and DirectX model prep program for it. So you can make your own levels, add your own graphics and models ( with animations ).

Our release will have 25 levels... but with the editors you can have as many as you like.

We have these programs already, but I want to make permanent GUI's for them before we release them.

Hmmm ! The Robot may have to be added after the compo has finished ( a week or so ) cos there's over 500 frames of anims to impliment. With a bit of luck though, he could be in

If not then there will be a patch available soon after.

Well..... the sparkly nebular is just a few airbrushed blobs + a couple of rendered lens flares added.

The fire FX is some difference clouds with their hue adjusted + shaped.... then it's made up of about 30 layers of the same copy, then some of the layers are rotated/colours added/opasities lowered etc. The bits of smoke are again >> a copy of the same fire layer but with the hue saturation taken away.

And the JetPac2003 text I added a chrome FX using EyeCandy4000, then just warped the text. ( the text is about 3 layers ) 1 has a corona modifyer added - one is a shadow - and the last one has the chrome added.
