Let me guess, the 2004 and earlier users are going to come and start saying, "not possible", or "don't try, start with pong". I say, give it a try! You can't lose anything. Multiplayer isn't easy, but it's not impossible, and just because you joined in 2006, doesn't mean you havn't used DB for years before (which most older users always assume). Ignore Nicholas and others like him and go ahead and make your game!

Yeah, do that also, then make the game.

Well, starting a wip thread and then ignoring what people say would be a pretty bad way to go about making games but hey ho. Calling a game Quake 5 is something I'd reconsider though, some people are automatically going to compare it to the other Quake games.

ahmm eh huh.., that picture is off YOUR progress in the game?

If so well done, hope the gameplay is as good. Shame you don't have much information about the game though.., granted i can guess for myself but i have no idea what progress or even how close it is to being finished / started

Lack of information - lack of screenshots...

So far, I haven't seen anything promising yet.

Also, please, for God's sake, quit calling your 'game' Quake 5!

Yeah, come up with an original name if you want to go commercial, otherwise you might get into trouble about copyrights.

yes it is,he just edited the number to 5,as you can see with great ease.

Further,
the name quake 5 you should change. As proberly issues with Copyright may come.

and also,
If the screeny's are in-game then it looks quite good.

@ Code Master, yeah you're right .

Sameer7, you might also get into trouble if you sell a game that has any of the quake logos/themes or story ideas in it as well. I'm sure if it was just a fan based creation that wasn't for profit they wouldn't worry, but as soon as you try to charge money for it - that's when you get into trouble.

Also, since you edited the box, you also have rating on it. That's illegal, because you didn't actually send it to ESRB (or whatever it's called ) for rating. You could get in trouble big time. I am even beginning to doubt that you made the game in that screenshot...

maybe he loaded the maps in a 3d editor then in photoshop he added noise and pasted some white and blue things to them.

IF that is dbpro, then it looks great and it would be kickass

looks like photoshopped...just look at the Hub, thats definately PSed. A screenshot from Quake and just cut and paste, the pixel seem to match too. From this will question the creditably of the rest of the screen. I could open up photoshop and analyze the pic pixel by pixel....but....too lazy to do that...lol

It's a serious question and deserves an answer...

Sameer7, what did you use to build your levels?

I ask because the level looks very advanced. The construction of it is quite intricate.

Also, a FRAPS video would be quite nice. Could you hook that up for us?

It looks like you made a level, then used prtscrn or fraps in quake, selected a wall from the picture and then used it for texture... Make your own textures and please decrease the bump effect, my eyeballs are bleeding!
Otherwise, nice start.

Requesting lock due to apparent piracy. See, he's not even answering our questions.

EDIT: why did we get this sudden wave of 2006 noobs? I would make a member joining limit every month. Do you want this forum to become like this? *shudders*

Why are you all hating on his time and effort? I mean, he is on Noob Slap so it may be retained if blood or gore was shown. Wait for him to return.

Oh, just for the record before this gets locked, I want to say that I asked you to quit calling it 'Quake 5' not because of copyright infringment, but simply because your 'game' does not deserve to have the word 'Quake' in the title!

kthxbye

edit: why is it that noob posts such as this always get tons of replies, and decent posts don't?
