I used to really love Stargate SG-1, but recently it's gone down the drainhole. I never liked Stargate Atlantis, but it too has gone down the drainhole. I wasn't sure about Battlestar Galactica at first, but it's turned out to be awesome. The same thing goes for Doctor Who.

As for the cheesy special effects in Doctor Who, I think they add to it. The strange creatures and such that've been in the episodes I've seen wouldn't seem so strange if they were done properly, know what I mean?

I love the theme song, wonderfully simplistic, yet invoking me to humm it as well..

I tend to find it a bit flat, when it starts. I prefer McCoy's theme tune or the one from the film.

I think this new theme tune is the best ever. The Cybermen were great, but the build up was too slow. I think the special effects have been pretty good apart from the flying Daleks. The new flying Dalek effect was worse than the red glow of the old flying Dalek from 1980's. At least they could have added a heat wave or something. Computer effects are so cheap to add.

Only in an effect sense. Money-wise is a different issue.
The guys at TheLoft use Maya for a huge amount of their work, so there are a number of things that are no doubt cut for time considerations.

Still I think this is all more down to a fact of 'some people will never be truely happy with something remade'

No doubt if you're star wars fans your the kinda guys who bitched about the enhancements they did to episodes 4-6.

Do you mean episodes 1 - 3? Were they enhancements? The plastic models in 4 to 6 were very well made, and were real world sculptures. Highly detailed. The computer generated effects were often brightly coloured purples, and reds, with a plasticine skin effect. Also, 95% of people hated them. So 'the kinda guys who bitched about star wars' means just about everybody.

I think they've been done pretty well - could be better though, although I did hear the BBC had to cut the budget for some reason.

Oh yeah, well the look of the enhancements was still wrong for the films. My answer is the same except that not many people complained about them at the time.

There are arguments over whether it should be Dimension or Dimensions...

Lol....I love being a geek. It's great having in depth arguments about something as pedantic as an extra "s"

To quote Wikipedia :

Quote: "There is some disagreement over whether the "D" in the name stands for "dimension" or "dimensions"; both have been used in various episodes. The very first story, An Unearthly Child (1963), used the singular "Dimension" and other episodes followed suit for the next couple of years. The 1964 novelisation Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks used the plural "Dimensions" for the first time and the 1965 serial The Time Meddler (1965) introduced it to the television series. Since then both versions have been used on different occasions; for example, it is singular again when mentioned in Frontios (1984). In Rose (2005), the Doctor uses the singular form (although this was a decision of the actor Christopher Eccleston — the line was scripted in the plural)."

Ooh...controversial! Should be dimensions, though. Doesn't make sense without the "s".

Oh, and I though saturdays episode was the best so far out of both new series. I love stuff involving alternate dimensions.
