Umm, could you take 5 screens from both areas, all in diff. locations? It looks real I guess, but I don't exactly trust you from the last thread, and also the fact that you only posted two screenshots.

Why didn't you defend youself on the last thread before it was locked if you're bothering to post this?

Use the edit button. I meant this thread, and I changed it two to, as when I started typing you had only posted one. Please take more screens of those areas.

Well, I think he's telling the truth, as he could do a much better job with the textures if he wasn't, but I'll hold my judgement until the demo. Personaly, I'm guessing this is just a basic fps at the moment with a ton of shaders, but again, I'll wait for the demo. After all, this is a wip.

I locked it because I beleieve its a hoax.
If its not the I apologise, however we have seen similar things like this before many times.
How about a mini video using a multiple screen capture program to decide if its real or not.

Because I want to know if you stole someone elses game. You have made everyone suspicious by avoiding the question. Now I am sure this is not yours.

Bah, this was the first forum I joined, and I knew hom to use the edit button when I joined... but then again my first thread was a wip for a game, which ended up becoming like five pages long before it was abandond. I guess I never had that n00b stage... just a bit of a newbie one.

@ Sameer7 : Two things, you can't call it Quake 5 as you do not have the rights and can you please answer that question about what level/game editor you used to make the game.

Uhhhh
DBP can use shaders right? I think why people are having difficulty believing you didn't rip this off is because most people who say they're making World of Warcraft 2, Half-Life 3, Quake 5, or Final Fantasy 7-2 are all usually full of it, whereas you actually deliver pretty screenshots and a nifty little video.

The fact that he refuses to tell us what he's making the levels with tells me it's a rip off. Perhaps it's a level editor included with a nice looking FPS or something.

Honestly, the video could simply have been of another game that he didn't make. FRAPS doesn't discriminate. He should distinguish it as his own in the video, perhaps overlaying a sprite logo of his.

People don't ususally have this reaction to a WIP if media is given. However, he gives a feeling of ultimate noobness in his posts. I say, where there's smoke, there's fire.

Hi there. For what it's worth...to me, this is like those threads that talk about being tech demo's but only show fly through's of a model; so show no actual gameplay (i.e. anything that would actually allow it to be called a tech demo).
Not to sound harsh, so forgive me if I do, i'd imagine this is his first project, and that he's quite young. Yeah, learning to post appropriately would benefit him, but hounding him too much wont. If he don't respond to multiple people asking the same question, maybe you should just not bother replying until he does start giving up information. If people seem bored of a project then it's up to the author to give something worthy of interest.
Screenshots can look good if you're a competent modeller, or in this case by simply using another games textures. However, look past that.
Sadly, my suspicions were confirmed upon seeing that video; the movement is very erratic and there is no collision to speak of (he walks over water...hmm, so many possible jokes, sorry).
If my advice means anything to you, Sammer7, then concentrate on putting together a small demo. Get most of your base features (movement, collision and possibly some basic effects) in before you advertise your work too much. Building a new map, positioning the camera somewhere and taking a screenie may make it look like you have loads of work down, but if the gameplay ain't there then you will never have a game to speak of...not one that can be played at least. Also, work to creating your own I.P., your own world. Taking that of others, in this case Quake, will only see you get bad attention and comparisons, whereas using your own ideas helps people see the real effort you're putting in.
What you have so far does look nice enough, so don't be put off at all. Continue working hard and you should soon earn some people's respect.
All the best,

For christ sake, people give the guy a break, not everyone is like each other, like said he/she could be completely new to forums and post as he/she thinks, the Quake 5 thing could be because its a fan games, I made a Sonic fan game before I started DBP and started a FFVII one, but are all lost on my old PC's HD, I didn't see this kind of fuss when I saw Cloudef/Jarse start FFVII: Journey into the lifestream.

As for the not stating his level editor, well I'd be reluctant to answer any questions if I felt like I was being cornered, because anything I would feel anything I say could be used against me only making things worse.

It looks pretty much feasible to me, dudes, just lighten up a bit, no point getting worked up over nothing really.

Yey! I removed the sig...

Personally i'm willing to have a little faith, let's just wait and see if a demo appears. Otherwise theirs nothing to get worked up about. Personally i dont know why anyone would join a forum just to fake.

And for all you know like me he's been programming for ages and has just joined the forum. I think i've had dbc sense it hit the shelf and i got dbp last year. And i was programming before i saw a copy of db

That doesn't make any sense. If I were using *some program*, I would just tell. If my end product is good, then nothing can be said otherwise. His 'end product' looks good, so asking how he made it is perfectly legitimate. Why wouldn't it be?
