I just realised how wonderfull that randomize command is . You can encrypt and decrypt any file with this. If you don't provide the correct numeric code you will simply get a mess when decrypting...

Yup, and it worked perfectly fine with me. Of course the exe has to be in the same folder as the file to encrypt though. Otherwise I don't see why it should not work with you. Can you tell me what is not working pls?

what did you run this in? becuase the randomise actually randomises everything and it can't decrypt it
well not properly anyways

You have to input the same code like before.
Then it will work.

I was thinking about doing something like this for a project I have at work. You saved me some time. Very cool.. you got my vote for winner.

Raven, randomize isn't actually random. You could take this a step further and use randomize to create a compression utility too.

Bobvila.com made me take off my avatar! (dunno how they found out)

then why is it fully randomising everything on my system?
if i don't use Randomize Code ... THEN it works - but before then it doesn't

Hm... I just encrypted and decrypted two plain text files, as well as a large word doc and a bmp image file. They both decrypted perfectly.

Hey JamesBlond, good work you have the basis of a nice public and private key encryption system, keep it up

Raven, I have no idea why it's not working on your pc. I also have no idea how the randomize command really works. Maybe it depends on the hardware or something else that's different on your pc than on mine. I simply don't know. :-s

machines can't be truely (spelling?) random so... if DBP is using the same randomize routine every time, logic says if you input the same random seed you'll get the same random numbers... I could be wrong of course!

Careful with this

What if Lee alters that algorythm for optimisation? Then all your stuff is not readable anymore.

Better use zip.dll with pathword. When they do an optimisation they will still make sure that the old versions are compatible as they did in the past.
