No its not, this place has viruses and trojans from every inch of cyberspace you can imagine. Here's teh simple chart

One Click on a board - A worm
One Post - A Trojan
One Login - A Keylogger.

I'd watch yourself

It can happen anywhere if the right people with the right knowledge show up with wrong intentions. Even the United States Government (http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=77784&b=2) isn't safe from hackers or apparently software users. But I've not seen anything happen to this forum in that matter.

Even if I didn't know, (which i do), I would look at word, see that it's actually two words "key" and "logger", and I might draw the conclusion that it has something to do with logging keystrokes.

Did they use phpbb (or similar) ? If so, it doesn't surprise me.

I'm not niaeve enough to say that this place is 100% secure (because I'm sure it's not), but the code isn't open source, which means all hackers have to actually trial and error things here first. Which is a far more arduous and boring process.

Keyloggers are not good. Pretty much they record you typing in passwords etc. and then email it to the hacker.

All new users start off on approval status, this prevents spammers from creating new accounts and spamming the forum. You are 'promoted' from approval status after a certain amount of time, and a certain number of posts are made.

@ Mouse: Where in NY?

@ the topic: I've never had an issue with this site so my vote is "yes, it's safe," but only as safe as any other website online where a bunch of computer people sit around talking about code and sharing download links with one-another But in my own personal experience I've never had a problem and I've purchased almost everything that TGC has to offer and the downloads have always been safe, plus they never stole my credit stuff or did anything else that would be rancid... it's a cool site and imho, it's safe

lol when I attended @ Binghamton University we would table* in the student union for the radio station I worked for, and because 99% of the people who went to that school were from Long Island, we'd ask passers-by "Suffolk or Nassau?" It made people laugh and stop at our table, except one guy from Fredonia who got really angry at our implication... of course we followed that up with "Why the *$#@ didn't you go to FREDONIA for college?!?"

I don't see anything wrong with LI... town after town after town of suburban spread linked together by the 495... it beats upstate, with four big cities and a bunch of trees in the middle

For the first time ever, I would have to agree with Drew.

Enough about NYC already. Living there doesn't make you some kind of gangsta or badass or survivor.

It's a pride thing for us, and probably 90% of new yorkers, whether they live in The Hamptons or Dunkirk or Binghamton or Lake Placid or anywhere in-between, are extremely proud of where they come from. And we have good reason, too... most of you who live in the US came from immigrants. Well where do you think those immigrants entered the country from? I'll give you a hint, it wasn't Maine And that pride intensifies the closer to the city you get. I live in south-eastern new york, as most of us NYers on these forums do, and that means it's REALLY intense Trust me, if you guys rode the T-train after dark and smelled some guy who just wet himself, and listened to some lady talk to herself about her plans to run for president, you'd be proud of being a New Yorker too. I love it here, and if you don't like it that we New York, then I guess you need to come visit and see why we love it so much

Edit: PS, some of us actually are survivors, btw... I was in Manhattan on 9/11 and was close enough to be worried for my life. Not that it makes me a badass or cool in anyway, but a survivor? I think I'm kinda lucky to be here, and I'm willing to bet the other people who were where we were think they're pretty lucky too. And I didn't see any planes crashing into stuff in Portland or Boise.

Pride is a sin you know.

New York isn't a background. I am sure the majority of New Yorkers all come from somewhere, either 1st or second generation. Anyone can move there and think they're better than people who live in, say, Toronto.

Half my family came from down south. In fact, a very nice good chunk of middle to southern california came from Mexico. It's a pleasant place to live if you take out the scene attitude and the poor air. Too bad those are #1 and #2 on the descriptors of California.

I never said I was better than anyone, and I've never heard re faze say that either. We're just proud of where we live and happy that we live here. But I think you need to live here for some set period of time to really be a NYer I've met lots of people who move here from one of the flyover states and three rides on the subway and two nathan's hotdogs later, they're complaining about Bloomberg and cheering for the Yankees. Most of us get kinda annoyed at people like that, lol.

Quote: "Most of us? Well, sorry but my I am part Indian, so my ancestors were here waaay before you came here, but then again my other ancestors did do some sort of immigration. I don't know"

So part of you is native-american, but the other part of you robbed, lied, cheated, stole, and murdered to steal land just like many of our ancestors did... those ones, the mean ones, probably came in through New York harbor My ancestors on my Dad's side, equally evil, just stayed in New York and didn't go out on the praerie (sp?)... cooking in Brooklyn beats building log cabins in the woods any day, imho anyway My mom's ancestors were stolen from their homeland and forced into labor here working on farms and stuff, so they don't count into the whole immigration thing, although I've met people who claimed slaves were immigrants too.. there's an arguement in the making, lol.

Quote: "Sure, you love New York, so I could say I love California, but I don't rant off enough about it making everyone annoyed "

Don't you live in Texas? Anyway, where I come from "ranting" is a different thing than "mentioning." I don't think I've ever gone on a tangent about NY, and if I did I'm sorry, and I don't think I've ever tried to make myself sound cooler than anyone else because it's where I'm from... we're just people, like you are. But we're proud of where we come from... I don't see the crime in that. If you talked about the city you're from a lot, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't care... in the least, I'd come away from it knowing a bit about what life is like where you live and how it's different from here. My girlfriend is from Idaho and when she came here she never had a decent slice of pizza, never heard of funnel cake or gyros, didn't understand that hot dogs can be a delicacy, and had no understanding of what calzones, stromoli, or cannolis were... and I was fascinated by that. I guess either I'm not uptight about what people mention in their posts, or I don't have a reason to be jealous of where someone else lives (except for all of the English people on here... because england seems totally awesome). anyway, seriously, you shouldn't take it so seriously. Calm down, eat a cannoli, and ignore me if it bugs you so much But if it bothers everyone that badly, I'll try to monitor myself in future posts

I don't mean your immigrants... I thought you said on Myspace that your people were from Latin America? In response to that Immigration bulletin I put up. Besides, you know my stance on modern immigration... it's a lot different from early immigration from 1500-1900, while cowboys were wiping out entire families of native americans... those are the evil immigrants I'm talking about. Mexican Immigrants are just looking for a better way of life (not that they can really get it here with all of the selfishness in this country)... but don't get me started on that, lol, this'll blow up into an immigration debate with me taking the side of the immigrants the way I do, and probably everyone else ganging up on me as usual

I'm not one-sided OR extreme!

Well... okay... maybe I am. But it's not MY fault that I think George Bush and Bill Gates are working together will Starbucks, Wal-mart, and McDonalds to systematically destroy the planet earth, and it's not MY fault that I hate fox news, and it's not MY fault that pop music is horrible, and it's not MY fault that don't trust organized religion... know who I blame? Donald Trump! It's all his fault somehow! Argh!

Okay, FINE, I'm extremely one-sided and (on occasion) I can be a bit "radical" with my thoughts and the methods with which I convey said thoughts... but come on, some times they're at least SOMEWHAT founded Even you, Jeku, have agreed with me on a few occasions. And Matt, you liked my little immigration piece on Myspace, which MUST count for something, lol. Ever since the gun control debate a year ago, and the ensuing hillary clinton vs. video game thread I posted, I've been deemed the official TGC radical liberal A curse I'll need to live with forever, lol

So I could live in another state and still love California. Anyhow, on mother's side, my great great grandmother is full Cherokee indian. on my dad's side, waaay waaay down the road I am cherokee... So my ancestors were both here, but then again, they married those so called immigrants from Europe area most likely. Or at least the children of those immigrants. I don't know... Anyway, there you have it.
