Hey! I'm new to DBPro, but picking it up pretty quickly - except here. I only have the trial version right now and maybe things are limited in it, I don't know. I can bring in 3D objects in .3ds format but can't color or texture them. I can get the wireframe, and a solid image, but no textures and no solid colors! What am I doing wrong? I'm bringing in the bitmap, GETting the image and then TEXTURE OBJECT with it but - nothing! Also, I've crashed DBPro trying to bring in .mdl models. Anybody? Sorry if it's a primitive question. I don't have the DBPro manual, 'cause I wanted to try out the features before I buy, so I may be missing something really basic (no pun!)

Do this:

LOAD IMAGE "whatever",whatever

LOAD OBJECT "whatever",whatever

texture object whatever,whatever

dont load a bmp and GET it, just load as an image.

hasn't let me down yet.

replace "whatever" with the file name(make sure it's in the same directory)
and replace whatever with a number.

Just pretend you didn't see it

Yup. Tried it - nothing. It won't even color! Could it be a problem with the 3ds file, or maybe a limitation of the demo version?

Sounds like your object is lacking UV data. If you do a MAKE OBJECT CUBE you can texture it, right?

Looks that way - I did the cube and it works. So the UV data is set when the model is made? :-s I'm not the one doing the models.

Yeah, but you can add UV data to an existing object in most 3D programs, or I think LithUnwrap can do it too.

if you are using max add a UVW mapping modifier or Unwrap the uvw and place the texture on the object by hand (this is a good way to make perfect fitting textures.)
