There's always been links to posts. Just paste the address on the top bar into the link.

@Richard Davey - Hey I have a nice idea... You can make a code box parsing script which finds any code line with text startBlue "userId","strKey" and replaces it with startBlue "XXX","XXXXX" so that any who forgets to remove their key codes will be happy!

I dont know wether there is any other project which requires this system so you could make this script for other plugins too!

Neofish, link to your post?

Here

It's a bit 'o a bugger to get the link, but it's definatly available... You just have to look in the source code for your post, then look just above it for the id="msgxxxxxxx" text

Have fun!

Tell you the truth Jess, I did try that, but konqueror sucks apparently

However, I'd prefer to just right click on a link n copy...the post title would be a fitting place for it and wont be hard for Rich to add

EDIT: I wrote the name of my IRC client instead of HTTP :s

Yeah, I know what you mean...

It would be a nice feature, especially when linking to a post with "Newer" information within the same thread

Is it possible to make it that when you click quote or link it puts the text where the cursor is instead of always on the end? (When highlighting in another post)

Never noticed that, it's very very subtle on my display.

Rich, whats with this Amiga icon? Surely you could have thought of a better icon to do with 16bit computing culture (that is still used by Ubergeeks on T-shirts)?.... I mean considering..... You know it's right... especially that animated one (but smaller)....

Name one!!

Rich - MINOR bug with the header bar of the post box here.. Its 25px high and the image that fills it is 20px, unless you meant that effect to happen (it looks quite nice!)

It's a bit harder than you think I'm afraid. If everyone here had a fixed number of posts per page, then it'd be easy. But you can change it in your profile, which means page 3 to one person might be page 6 to another. Therefore some kind of 'middle' stage would be required, to parse the page + message ID request, then work out which page it actually appears on for that user, and take them to it.

If it was a simple link I'd add it It's still possible, but I don't have time this week to work on it, sorry.

Yeah I know, I was going to fix it but it didn't look that bad and I forgot about it in the end I'll sort it later.

Actually do a search for Atari and Rich. Won't take long. Normally is at the top or close.

C'mon Rich, don't let those jumped up C64 upgrade lovers have it all their own way After all you don't really need a carrot icon. Or just ditch the Amiga icon altogether to make way

The C64 and Amiga logo's are different - The C64 is the 'chickenhead' one (C=) and the Amiga one is the tick, although both would, I believe, be used for the Amiga, but not the other way around.

Speaking of logo's - can be have an Acorn one as well ? Us (me) RiscPC/A3010 users are feeling quite lonely...

I was being sarcastic. I can see which side of the fence you fell.... I assume you also did not own a Spectrum?... And probably still have your "girlfriend" tucked up with an extra 512k of RAM tucked up inside.... BTW, if you did not get involved in the ST vs Amiga war at the time then ignore that last comment (look it up), I wasn't being nasty really

Sorry if this was mentioned before, but when I click a button, i.e. quote, the cursor leaves the textarea. Before I could click quote, press CTRL-V, then click quote again to end.

Now I have to click quote, click in the textarea, press CTRL-V, then click quote.

Minor annoyance

I wouldn't have been seen dead near a Spectrum. Amstrad was okayish, but the BASIC was slow...

Thats okay - we all know the Amiga was the best - until the A3010 came along Now that was a fine machine to program for

Just a small thing and I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the forum or my setup (I'm using FF) Whenever I click on a code snippet thing the text looks as below:

The only way I can make it readable is to decrease the font size by one.

It's just you, I only ever use Firefox (or Safari) and they work fine here, so it's not a JS issue or similar. Refresh your cache (ctrl+F5) or check the script files are not being blocked by something stupid (like Norton Firewall, or a security setting)

One thing that bugs me is that when I want to quote something the semi old fashioned way by hitting quote, pasting the text, then hitting quote again, every time I hit quote the cursor leaves the textarea, and if the text has fallen past the window limit, causing the textarea to be scrollable, it will return to the top. Its more of an annoyance because I cant just hit quote, ctrl+v, quote and be done with it, but its no hugely major deal if it doesnt get worked on. I'm using FF.

Do a quick search on the Geek Culture board and you'll find out how to see your post count. I won't post it here because every time it's mentioned the thread in question soon turns into a "Let's Compare Post Counts" free-for-all.

This is largely directed towards Rich,

I notice that when you log in you are taken to the shortcuts screen that, amongst other things, tells you your post count. Would you consider adding a user's post count under their avatar? I always like this on forums as 1) it can give a good idea of who is a vet around here and 2) it's strangely satisfying to achieve a new level (such as veteran, ultimate member, etc).

I know some may flame me regarding spammers trying to get a high post count but in my experience that doesn't really happen.
"

thats what i was trying to ask

also can you put the member titles on im not sure it they where here before or not but i think it whould be kool to have the new member up to seinor member under our names.

I haven't checked if it's my browser or the forum and the exact conditions, but it _seems_ that threads aren't marked as read until I post :/ I viewed this one twice and refreshed the thread view (it did do a full reload) and it still didn't show as unread :s This me or the forum?

EDIT: After posting it finally marked as read:/
It _could_ still be my browser tho..

EDIT2: I post this then it starts working normally...arg

Same here.

And on occasion, threads that have not been posted in years suddenly show up as new even though nobody has posted in them, such as the "Welcome to the DarkBasic Professional Forum" which I think was the first post ever on this board.

There is a new post in that thread.

And as I said in another thread, I believe this has to do with post aproval, being that there is a post that you have not 'seen' but is there. Just a guess.

Personally I think displaying 'post counts' is generally a bad idea. It gives people reason to post utter junk just to get their count up and feel more important.
"I have more posts than you so I therefore know more...",
"I have more posts than you so you should bow to me...",
"I have more posts than you and am therefore less effeminate..." etc.

I gots an idea:
what about a favorites list, that was like my threads(there was a constant url, and was in the little drop-down list thingy) and then you could just have an add to favorites type thing at the bottom of every thread and you could take stuff off of it ofcourse also

I would love that so then for some posts I could just add to favorites and then load the page and enjoy; instead of loading the board(take a while on dialup) and then attempt to locate it; also have it like most recently replied thread be at the top

yup that'll be the day

Plus you got the fact that post count does not give a real indication of knowledge.
I mean theres a good few users who very rarely post here but are geniuses, and we have plenty of users who pour most of their time into posting crud onto the boards.
It wouldnt be fair to have the newbies looking up to people like ..... well you know them as well as I do!

Yeah, that was when the forum was on the same server as the web site. But they were pulled apart due to load and I disabled that feature as a result. It did exist though, and will make a re-apperance.

The new build of Apollo has some very innovative features (ones I demonstrated over 2 years ago to people here!), including 'virtual' boards (you can build your own board by collecting themed threads into it, then share that board with others), it also had deep thread sorting, filtering, blocking, etc. Damn, wish I had time to finish it off
