I just thought it would be fun to see what type of car/truck/train, etc. the geeks here are driving around or wish you did. Please post pictures if possible.

I'll start off with my truck. It's a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 extended cab short bed. I don't have a picture of it, but this looks exactly like it:

Really nice truck, plenty of room and power, just wish the fuel mileage was a little better. I get an average of 14 mpg with it. It has over 100000 miles, but still runs almost like new.

Good performance is better than a good excuse.

That's what I WANT to drive, when I'm dreaming.

What I wouldn't mind driving in real life is a 2005 Mustang, or even a 1999 Mustang Cobra. What I do actually drive in is a gross 15 passenger van, that has been totalled. Bleah.

I'm not a big fan of Caterhams. I wouldn't dismiss it, but it's definitely not the car for me. It's got a unique look which is in its favour, but it's not a look I really like. I find it a bit too impractical too, and the classic, although quick, isn't THAT quick. I mean, my Civic has the same BHP, a much lower acceleration, but the same top speed. And if you crash into a blade of grass in a Caterham, you're liable to be complete mangled. So, for me, it's a cool little car to show off in, but that's about it!

Edit: Oops, forgot to mention the price is great on Caterhams though, especially if you build them yourself.

Edit 2: UHh .... but just seen they're insurance group 20! So if you're just turning 17 and you can find someone to insure you on it, you're probably looking at £2000 - £3000!!!!!

I found megaton's car!

I drive a supercharged white 2dr 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. (modified suspension) Replaced the '99 I lost to a flippin deer. Well my dream car would be a early 70's hemi challenger, but something more practical for every day driving would be the hemi chrystler 300C, new mustang, hemi dodge magnum, or the new challenger(whenever it gets outa concept phase). The only import I'd want to drive without climbing over $100k is a Mitsu 3000gt vr4. (yes I know a lot of new chrystler stuff comes from Mercedes) At the $100k+ mark, gimme an aston martin, diablo, koenigsegg, maybach, or a bugatti. A lotus elise would make for a very nice $40k car.

@ Fallout: That's a skyline, right? They're illegal in the US Not that I can figure out why... Ferrari's are WAY faster and people have those here But it's pretty anyway hehe

I have a 2002 Mazda Protege right now, the sport edition. What I *really* want to get is the Mazda Speed6. Or better yet, if I woke up tomorrow with Bill Gate's money, I'd buy an Enzo and two Spiders (because you need to own two Ferrari's before you're allowed to purchase the Enzo, Ferrari's got hardcore rules about that, or so they said on the History Channel anyway). But realistically, the Speed6 would be awesome. Fast, efficient, cool-looking... I'd be a happy, happy guy if I had that car

Not all Ferrari's my man! The Skyline GTR is a twin turbo monster. But I will stop there, because arguing that a Skyline is better than a Ferrari would be completely retarded.

I doub't it has anything to do with the speed of the vehicle, it is more likely that it

a) does not meet minimum clearance or
b) does not meet a particular safety standard.

I know several european cars are illegal in the US due to clearance, though you could probably make it legal with a suspension change, but why do that.

There's ways around the legality of any car. Some cars might be illegal to buy here or even bring over, but you can ship in the chassis separately from the rest of the engine and assemble over here in the US and then just insure it as a kit car. There's a particular brazilian car company that sells a car that way just so they can get them sold to US ppl.

I did a little bit of digging. Apparently importing Skylines into the US isn't illegal. I read somewhere there is a company that is actively doing it, although you never know whether they're getting round a rule by tweaking something.

It appears a lot of people seem to think it's emmision related. That's somewhat bizarre looking at some of the cars you dudes drive. Obviously for it's class, or something, it has particularly high emmisions. My personal guess might be the mod market. I mean, nobody mods a ferrari, but you can mod a Skyline to have over 1000bhp and have a 3 second 0-60. Basically, you can turn it into a Japanese rocket (quite handy given the current situation with Korea). That might be considered a problem - it definitely makes it damn hard to find an insurance company here. I can get insured on a skyline, but a lot of them are modified when you by them 2nd hand and a lot of companies turn you down when they hear the word "Nismo"!
