@Nicholas Thompson: I've got a PNG Version, at 68 kilobytes No harm in putting up the GIF which loads in a couple of seconds, as opposed to the PNG, which takes 12 seconds.

I really like ThinkDigital's last logo.

Here are a couple of logo's I made to go along with the idea. I kind of made one of them real similar to the grey and orange logo of ThinkDigital's. Also, the other one has a transparent background so it might be difficult to see on computers with dark backgrounds, the icon could have an optional white background.

Here is the image of all 3 (2 don't look different because one has a transparent background while the other has a white):

and here are the icon files:

http://www.fantasymultimedia.com/codesurge/CodeSurge2.ico
http://www.fantasymultimedia.com/codesurge/CodeSurge3.ico

I hope these are close to what you are looking for. These are designed for default xp at 48x48 (should scale down by the os on their own if needed). And the reason why you are seeing so much response to your request is because we all see your hard work you are putting into codesurge and we REALLY appreciate it Hy'

Thanks a mil dude for your outstanding IDE. Oh and if your web browser wants to view the icon as it would an image, it might look a little funny, so you can download them, and look at them optionally.

I do too somewhat. I like the color scheme. I still think the coffee mug should be eighty-sixed.

@Alquerian,
Really nice icon there. I just might use it. It's simple, yet effective.

@French Gui,
Really cool lighning effect. Not sure about the text though. Still, I like it.

@BigAdd,
Cool idea there, but it doesn't seem to quite get the message across of a warp-speedy IDE that zaps all other competition out of the picture. No offence at all, but it just doesn't look like an IDE logo.

I'm really astounded at the amount of submissions you guys have given. I'm having a hard time deciding which one to use. Thanks again for all your outstanding efforts.

That isn`t much. Perhaps you meant 680?

Since the other one was scaring you guys so much...

No problem. If you end up choosing a different logo, let me know I can make icons to accomodate whatever color scheme you are going with. You can't usually get too complicated with icons as they are so small :S. We will do our best though

@Nick. Yes is was anti-aliased. its just that when using the magic eraser in photoshop it created horrible lines. I rendered a cup with a purple/pink backdrop. you can see some still on it. it was rushed so i couldn't bother doing it properly.

Couldn't decide on a font, so here's all of them.

(eh, i think they turned out more like a game logo)

Kindof on a tangent, what software do ye use for vector graphics? I have a trial version of Illustrator lying around but I'd rather something a bit more lightweight, and preferably free

Just a couple of ideas to throw into the pot. The first two are from your original brief of a coffee cup and lightning bolt. The third is a mixture of 'clean' geometry and 'rough' natural elements. There is no colouring/shading/texturing or special FX - they are just concepts at the moment.

(Oh, and I always work in vectors )

Sorry for not getting back with you guys sooner. I'm still deciding what to use, and maybe I'll just rotate through a few of my favorites. I've been really busy and haven't had much time to try them out yet.

@Phaelex:
Those are awesome, but I do agree they look more like game logos.

@Zappo:
Nice concepts there.

I really think the Alquarian/Think Digital combo there would be perfect.
