oki i've downloaded 2 forums templates, now I have 98Mb of ftp space...
it has the mySql 3.23 setup for access - and it supports php 4.1

so i unzip phpBB-2.0.3.zip to phpBB2 in My Documents, I open My Network Places and upload the folder ...
i alter the config.php to read/write full access
then run http://members.lycos.co.uk/TimeSaga/phpBB2/install.php
immediatly i get a 404 error page which jumps me backto www.tripod.lycos.co.uk

this has happened to me on other sites before, which have been compliant. Now someone has remarked in the Lycos php forum that they can access it, however I can't.
I know there really isn't a problem with php as well I'm here arn't I

so someone please help me setup my forum!
i've been at it for almost 5hours now with no success, i know the files are on the ftp i can access them from the ftp in IE6 however not on the http !!

I don't think you should run install.php, just navigate to the web address, such as http://members.lycos.co.uk/TimeSaga/phpBB2.

I love Star Trek.
Especially the Episodes with Starships in.

well i found what the actual problem was, happen'd to be i was trying the wrong address - because for some reason recently they've updated the address, so now the usename isn't case sensitive - and you require full lowercase for the site to access the php and MySql...

All working now thou if you checkout the post where i say -its all working now

had to figure out howto activate my database as well, that took a long time ... still a few bugs admin related but the whole forum now works perfectly for users.
