That doesn't amount to anything in security... that's about £45 which isn't even a week's work. Then I can start looking at how it's built, and start learning ways to abuse it (assuming I was a good enough programmer to understand it, and had nothing better to do with my time, that is)

Most people that have a game have it hosted on their own web site. Feel free to link to my site

Well if it helps, I'll be nice and offer the game I've got in WIP, but its not done enough for even showing people here, once I've got the character implemented and my issue sorted I'll give your website a demo.

Farooqaaa,

I don't mean to rain on your parade but you will not find much support for an offsite DBP forum (or any other TGC products). Here are a few illustrations and hypothetical situations:

Say you have a problem which you cannot solve. You try and try, and still no luck. You think it is a bug, but you are not sure. So you rant about this bug in your forums, who is going to do anything about it? I seriously doubt that many of the people who are in a position to do anything about it will be members of your forum, thus the point of making such a rant/post would be pointless. In order for you to see any results, you would need to go to this forum and make a bug report. Then you would be using 2 forums, what is the sense in that? </Rhetorical>

Here is an additional illustration:

I have a 76 Jaguar that I am looking for a seatbelt for. I have a pretty good chance of finding that seatbelt at eBay, it may take a week or two, but chances are I will find it. Why? There are millions of people using eBay, selling, buying and the like. It would do me no good to go to OnlineAuction.com where they are touting their 500th member. Chances are they will never have this seatbelt, you might find some crazy lady selling toast with burnt images of what she proclaims is Christ, but you wont find your fabled seatbelt. Forums are no different. The power of forums is derived by a mandate of the masses not by some fascical acquatic ceremony! The point is, as it has already been mentioned, when you are looking for something, you will more than likely find it here if you are resourceful and creative.

Just my 2 pesos.

Why make a forum? Wait till you make a game and then make a website with a forum for that. If you ask me forums just suck up all your time. It would be best to focus on programming and modeling! Use your time carfully!

this is totally not cool. you guys are telling a person NOT to purchase a webhost + dns name + vbulletin + files + folders just so he can get stabbed in his heart when he realize not too many people are actually interested in this idea, and so he loose a lot of money?

oh.. and + un-install.

Farooqaaa, judging from your join date, it appears that you are very new to Dark Basic. With your skill set, and lack of completed games, you won't be able to create any original Dark Basic content that is useful or interesting. Certainly nothing against you, nobody starting out could hope to. You've got to learn how, and make games. It takes about a year, if you are diligent. By that time you'll have to pay for your site again, and you've wasted a year of hosting money. Plus, since you'll be focused on making the site successful, you will probably dedicate less time to learning DBP.

For your site to be interesting, you need tons of original content. Reusing other people's code won't work. This site is here for that, and there are a number of other sites with some good collections.

Faroqqaa (or however its spelt) - My advice. If you cant make a site with decent content then dont bother. It'll cost you money and wont be rewarding. There is nothing worse that going to a forum and seeing it has 3 members who last logged in on 6 months ago. People will just leave.

If you want - try a blog. If you can keep the content on a blog up to date then you will have a number of things:
1) A site with regularly updated content - this will help you make it up the google rankings.
2) Gets you out the google sandbox so when you finally do have something usefull to put up, people will actually come to see it.

Obviously - its your choice. If you honestly think you can make a sucessfull developers forum - go for it. But its nowhere near as easy as you think. Ask yourself the question "Why would I ever come back to this site?"

Cash Curtis II:- You are right . I am new to DB but not that much new, i learnt Funcions,Arrays,Variables,Camera,3d coding etc. I also made my simple FPS game . Which was too much simple so i didnt posted it here. But now when made that FPS i jumped to Web , and never touched DBP yet. I also have a DBP book "Beginner guide to DBP" this one. I will take out some time to study that book .

Medieval Coder:- Yeah, thats the way to attract people to a website .

THe Crakzykitaion:- Nevermind, i also misspelled ur name !

well now that you have bought it, perhaps offer free webhost?
if you have enough space for it, and support for subdomains, ftp and email accounts.

that would certanly attract people, especially if you don't put up ads on their sites, or close them after 30 days. i remember those days too well

The domain name i have bought is "Dbasicpro.com" which is easy to pronounce. I also bought a $85 Vbulletin license. Just wait a hour or two, the forum will be up.

When it is up, i will post here. And then should you guys help me how will the forum look like?

i don't think i've used a vbulletin forum before.
i allways use simple machines, because rgt used to have it and i love it i also wrote my own forum once, but it didn't need hackers to break it.

Lukas:- Try Vbulletin it rocks, but its too expenisive . I bought one license for Dbasicpro.com on $85 which expires after 3/4 months .

I spent $85 + $8.88 = $93.88 on DBP forum!!

You can get domains for less than $9 a year....and hosting that is execellent less than $40 a year, and that comes with flash support, forums, shopping carts......EVERYTHING YOU COULD EVER WANT!!?

JESUS! You spent $85 on forum software where there are a million free ones?! phpBB? Even Drupal can do a forum - its just a little different.

The reason I suggested a blog is because that doesn't look odd if you're the only one updating it where as a forum looks a lonely place if it majoritivly contains your name only.

Edit:-
The other free software are not good as Vbulletin .

No Problem, now forget the money i spend, lets work on the forum now . I have enough money to spend . So i spend $85 on the license. Lets make the forum good, to not waste the money i spent .

I shall post here when the forum is up

It's really impressive, IMO, and has all the functions a forum needs. Posting, Editing, Thread Creation, stupid emoticons, A user-base..."

I didn't know Apollo was TGC exclusive...

Farooqaaa, you joined recently so not many people are going to listen to you unless you do something good! Your lucky you didn't have TDK Man telling you your mistake (The good old days when I tried to make a tutorial without even knowing waht a matrix was! Were is TDK Man anyhow? Haven't seen him in ages!). What I would suggest is to make a few good games with DBpro, post them on a website let people play with them wait a year or two help people out along the way and then maybe people will listen.

I had a look at your forum and it was nothing special! Maybe if you made something a little more professional! For example look at my website (The galekus one) its trash! (I am using flash to make a new one though so stay tuned!). Now look at cash curtis's website. WOW totally fantastic! looks amazing! (Serious).

Also Cash is one month longer then I have been here for (Wow I didn't know that! I thought you were here for a lot longer then that!) He is making a great RPG Enginge which will now, as I hear, be published commercially! Cash has helped people in the past (Including me) so people will listen to him respect him and appreciate his criticism. I myself am still working towards that respect but people here do agknowledge me listen to me and respect me! Just not as much! If you want to know somone really well respected then look at Megaton Cat!

You know what I wish these forums had, the little bars under your avatar that showed you how experienced you are (Example: Newbie, Advanced programmer, Master, Lord etc etc..) That would be totally awesome!
