Well, there was SO much interest in sensei, that I figured I\\\'d make the early beta public.

Do not download and never feedback. It\'s just rude dude!

The beta is available from

http://www.peanutbutterfingers.co.uk/sensei.htm

Instructions and licence are included in the zip. Instuctions, and behavioural descriptions are included in the text of each script. I WILL NOT answer questions that have already been answered in the documentation.

Enjoy, and please post feedback here or at the site!

Thanks

Butters

I have a question for you.
Do we have to have empty's mod installed for all of the scripts to work?I am only asking because of the new update that has been released.
And,if so,will empty's mod work if you build the game after installing 1.03 AW (stands for Actually Works.)?
I know you probably haven't had the time to check it out to see.
Feel free to beat me if I asked too many dumb questions.
BTW I did download the beta from your site (which is looking better all the time) and I will check it out as soon as I can.

Well, it seems to me that empty's MOD was a rewrite of the exe file, and I think that the 1.0.3 is too. I don't see how they both could work at the same time. You either use the new exe or you use empty's exe. I think......?

Fear not people. The scripts in the Beta will run on ANY version of FPSC even the V1.

I wanted it to be as available as possible.

Ally support is working (as can be seen from the video), but I know people can be critical here, so it'll be out later, when it's fully working!

And fred, cheers for the website comment, and rest assured there's a whole load of new videos, music and media that's waiting to be uploaded!

The info on your website says that you have to have Empty's FPSC Update Beta to run your scripts. Has that changed?

Marc Steene:
like I said dude, I have to get permission from Empty to release his source update with the Scripts, so Allys will be out soon. I also need to get around one minor hitch, it's not a huge problem, but I can see it is something that people will complain about.

Everyone else.

I'm sorry for moaning! I'm just excited to see what people think, but I'd rather people gave it a full on testing, than a quick blast and a thankyou!

Hi Butters, rather than post straight away after downloading I went into some serious testing... So far I like what I see and while I haven't tested out every script in different scenarios I'll tell you about a problem I have had with the 'takecover' script...

It works fine if I have the enemy activated in the level from the start but if an enemy is activated using a trigger zone, it behaves very odd... first of all it runs through various animation sequences, walking, running, throwing grenades (even if armed with a gun), rotating in a circle until eventually the enemy cyles between standing and crounching while shooting...All of this occurs with the enemy in the one spot... As I said this only occurs when I activate an enemy from a trigger zone...

Apart from this I have had nothing but good experiences with Sensei.. After some more extensive testing I will tell you any other findings...

All in all, so far, I am very impressed with Sensei... thanks for all your hard work...

I don't want to see a FPSC Professional!

Thraxas.

Hey man, I'm glad you're enjoying Sensei, and thank you so much for the comprehensive review, I really appreciate it, and look forward to more feedback.

I discovered that same bug yesterday. Just to check, are you using takecover as a shoot script? If you are then I have a problem, but I think it's just to do with the branch that makes then run away when hurt, no idea why, but it worked fine before I added that line.

I've got the whole of today and tomorro free, so I'll have an update out soon, with allies.

Johnno.

Yes it's "just a whole bunch of scripts". What did you expect? A cake?!

But seriously. If you want the player to actually get killed, get this.

Fred.

Dude, that sucks. I recently had a FPSC meltdown too. Mine was only on one map, but it's still so frustrating. I hope you get it working soon, I would really value your review.

Peace all.

Been testing the attack and sentry scripts with a trigger zone.

They only seem to work in the trigger zone and they never die, im sure i must be doing something wrong.

Getinrange works 100% but you do have to get very close maybe i need to change the range of the cone.

You done a good job on the ai butter fingers just need your advice on how to get those small problems sorted.

As I have been writing sensei in conjunction with making FOTF there are some scripts which I guess are more suited to the CQB tactics of urban warfare. I'll adjust the getinrange script so that enemies attack sooner. That way you can use whichever one is more suited to the style of level you are making.

With regards to the trigger zones activation problem, I totally forgot, I wrote a custom trigger zone script for Sensei.

Everyone!
I'm really happy everyone is finding this useful, I appologise for the problems some people are experiencing, I know it's disappointing, but I guess there are some issues that will only crop up when Sensei is used by someone other than myself, between us I'm sure we can make a really wicked project. Please Keep feeding back with any issues or ideas, and I'll keep adjusting the scripts. Just to note, I only want suggestions for scripts that will benefit everyone.

I'll be posting an update later on tonight, with allies, a getinrange update, and the triggerzone script.

Would people be interested in an updated levelsetup script that allows you to add a hud such as a gaskmask, or helmet? Also, using emptys update you can support a levelsetup that caps at 40fps and a bunch of other useful hooha.

OK. Commandable allies are now working!! Hurrah. You can have up to 2 guys on your team. I'm afraid that it is still a big buggy, and this is something I wont be able to alter until empty gets his next update out.

I had innumerable problems using the new scancodekeypressed command, and so have ahd to revert to using the plrusingaction command. Not really a problem, it's better to have all the doors in the level on auto if you got allies anyway (otherwise you easily lock them out!).

Anyway, because sometimes they seem to get over excited and not want to attack, or get bored and not want to attack anything, I've built in a "force" overide, that means you can hold enter and force the ally to shoot or follow.

It works pretty well. I should have the final version ready later (I want to build in speach so they talk when commanded.) A word of warning though. I've tried the ally script with 10 different characters as the ally, and for some reason some entities just don#t like being allies. You're gonna have to just play around and find the entities that work for you!

Is there any way in the script you can change the key to change from Enter to, say, P? I don't like having everything being enter.

Uh yeah that's easy, but for some reason it won't work with these scripts. Lets just say it's FPSC having a strop.

Awww....I wanted the cake!!!

Sounds sweet as...I like the way they shoot at the enemies the most. Is it possibile to have them shoot the enemy and follow a way point, or follow you? (And continue firing at the zombie scientist, and technologically advanced terrorist)

I don't want the main character to die, just the player scared, and have a few comrades from the TNCBCRU fighting.

What does the trigger zone do? If you walk into it can you activate an explosion or something?

Sound very nice! If you up-load it, I'll be able to test it on thursday or friday. (Cause Im going home from boarding school...yay!!)

Hey i hav an idea i think people might like

say if you had a bad person that was like a boss of a group or something.
And say u had to kill him and he was trying to escape.
If his henchmen to protect him they move in front of him
I'm sure it would & could be possible.
What do u think?
If you do use this idea could i get a free full commershal version of it.
I'm also beta testing it 4 u.

features ally support. (both commandable and independent)
Updated trigger zone.
Updated Takecover script.

And I made the Sensei homepage a bit snazzier.

Butterfingers,

I am new at FPS creator, just bought it, and I am trying to add allies to my PC game.

I followed all the instructions. My ally follows me fine, but he doesnt shoot anywone.

What should I do?
