FPSC has died a horrible and irreversible death on my PC. all my files are there,

I can't test game, build game, uninstall or repair. Access is denied if I try to delete manually, I get access denied.

So I'm shafted. Have no idea what to do. It's all gone for the minute.

Since the error line number reports are a bit off the mark most of the time, it's a wild guess at the moment, but still:
Try to get rid of the current "gun" folder (ie. delete the folder and re-install FPSC)

Edit:
or better yet, do the same with the script folder (and try to build something before you drop in your own scripts again).

cheers empty, Fred had the error before and told me it was scripts, but jees dude thanks for actually looking it up for me. That was wicked of you. I meant to ask... did you look into alternate textures on characters, and stopping enemy deactivations? I know you're probably as busy as me, and haven't had time, I was just wondering tho!

hi butters,
I have a question, what AI script did you use in your FOTF demo. I am asking this because it made the enemies really hard to kill. It would be very usefull for my action game i am working on for a group collage project. I would be greatfull if you could post a link to the script, or tell me where you got it from.

cheers

From the license txt file......

Quote: "SENSEI AI is developed and written by ModEdit, and as such no script may be used without
permission. This is an early BETA and in no way represents the quality of the final product.
Please do not use this in any commercial product."

Are you trying to tell me:

A.I can't use it whatsoever without permission
or
B.I just can't use it in commercial products.

Please tell me if I interpreted this wrong.....

Please remove my name from the above post.

I have to put it in the licence, but I don't want it on the forum.

Basically you can't use it for anything thats gonna leave your computer. But if it's not commercial, you can email me if you wanna use it.

These scripts are in beta.
That means they are still being tested.
Maybe when he releases the full version of Sensei the license will change.
Since he has released this for testing purposes only the license is not unusual.
Be patient.

Thanks fred. That's exactly what I was gonna say. Sensei is still in beta stage, the whole point of this release was for people to download and try out, and feedback to me about how it was for them. So no, this release can't be used in anything really, but that's only cuz it's a test. Think about how many beta test products acyually let you export.

The final version will be out soon. I'm gonna be very busy soon, and have lots of work outside of FPSC to be doing, so Sensei isn't gonna have all the features I would have hoped. It'll still be a vast improvment on stock AI though.

OK. I have just set up 8 laptops for a videogames course, I'm running FPSC with empty's update on all of them, and I can honestly say that the early version of v2.1 had no anim slowdown on any of the characters.

I have the new waypoint system integrated, and it's all looking pretty good. I have to appologise to everyone that I haven't had much time to work on Sensei or FOTF recently, but if I don't to any real work ,then I can't pay the bills and keep doing FPSC... it's a catch really! LOL

Anyway, I had so many issues with people who were totally unready to be beta testers emailing whinging that they couldn't get the simplest bits of Sensei to work, that I'm not gonna release V2.1 until it's totally bug tested (by everyone here), and there's a manual.

1 week?! 2 weeks. not long. I promise!

read the included instructions.

Don't be so lazy.

I'm fed up of people expecting me to type them an answer to something I already typed in the instructions

I could have sworn I already asked this, but seeing as I can't find my post anywhere, I'll ask again.

How come Empty's mod makes my enemies move so slowly? They play their animations, but at what seems like a quarter of what it should be, and then if I press tab the run fine. Any pointers? I got the ally thing working, one killed the other, but they moved REALLY slow. Shot at the right rate of fire though.

Airslide.

Dang man. I wish I could help. I'm running 3 PCs here at peanutbutter and neither of them have the slowdown animation problem.

I can honestly say that for some reason the stock characters seem to bug out when used with emptys mod. I only use custom anyway, so it hasn't been an issue for me.

The only other thing I can think of is to open the setuplevel.fpi and add the line

syncrate=50 to the state=1 section (the state for when the level is running). This is pretty cool anyway, because it means that the game peaks around 50fps when it can.

I'm sorry to everyone that there hasn't been much course for an update. I'll just say that I've been really hard at work on a new innovation and that it's gonna take FPSC AI by storm, but it involves some quite complicated stuff, and the installation of new scripts and markers. It's still going to be free to the community, but for a minute it's all under wraps...

butters.

Airslide, I'd quite like to share this concept with you and send you the early files. I think I could really benefit from having a wing man on this one!!

Okay

I'm thinking the problem I'm having is because I have FPSC V103, I haven't tried with the new RC though. Probally won't help. However, I'll look through the new files and see if maybe something was changed I can change back for emptys mod.

Well, I wouldn't advise it, it's pretty unstable. The final version will be out as soon as the custom waypoint system is working.

Airslide

You could also try this...

The characters that I have created after installling emptys mod work fine, but any that I added before are messed up. I solved the problem by deleting the old DBO and Bin files for the charcters.

Tat might well solve your animation problem too!

Ah, okay, thanks, I'll try it!

Once he adds all his features to 1.03's source (once TGC releases it) I'll have everything I need except the feature to make some projectiles use decals again

I covered this in this thread already but I will do it again to save you from incurring the wrath of Butter Fingers.
As Butter Fingers has posted (at least twice) Sensei AI has been released for BETA TESTING ONLY.
That means you can only test it in your games. It is not to be released with your game for any reason.
When Sensei AI has been fully tested and a finished product has been released I am sure that Butter Fingers will change the license accordingly.
He is still releasing this for free...he is nicer than me.
After all of the aggravation he has been put through over this I would charge if I were him.

Hey lizz, nice to have you back. Please stop hijacking my thread.

Thank you for clearing that up Fred, I'm sorry I've been away from the Forum guys, I've been Learnin C++ and my job/girlfriend/social, ahs meant that I've spent alot less time being a shut-in-geek.

I'm always adding to sensei, but the problem is that it's becoming a bit of a beast, with many of the scripts and functions not being very obvious to first-time and inexperienced users. This poses a bit of a problem, because I had 57 emails for help with the Beta (I didn't expect any considering I told people, that if they couldn't work it out with the help of the manual, then their beta feedback was worthless).

Anyway, I'm writing a manual today, and I'll be releasing the final version of sensei later. I haven't the time to continue with it as a freebie-community thing, especially as there are other (wonerful) scripters such as Airslide working on equally good (if not better) scripts. I'm sorry if this is gonna upset people who've been waiting for a finished product, I just fear that soon this work will be obsolete, as more and more people switch over to 1.03 and Empty's mod is incompatible.

Peace

Buttttttteeeerrrrrrsssssssssss.

Butter fingers,
You should get together with Airlslide and do the scripting thing together.
Isn't it funny how your girlfriend expects you to put down the computer mouse and spend time with her.
I was beginning to wonder if you left us...

Thanks By the way, did you get my e-mail? You never responded - though I don't need character creation help, but rather exporting - I don't know if it was a problem with the way I rigged it or the way I exported it, but my character keeps turning into a jumbled mess

The installation.txt file in the Sensei download from Butter's site is password-protected. So is the license and manual. Any ideas?

first of all, its empty's mod. not empty mod. rc9 is an official update, and empty's mod is well... a mod. but the newer rc9 is better in my view.
