Ok fellow forum members I have started to dabble in the texture realm. After countless hours of reading and trial and error I have created three textures. The first one is a thatch texture. and the next two are of a stone wall. The stone wall images are of the same background image but the second wall has three seperate layers to add flavor. Enjoy!

Oh yeah, if I get positive feedback I will release these three textures and possibly more free to the community. If I get negative feedback like they suck or you suck I will assume that no one wants these.

Thanks Jon. I am using photoshop to produce all of these. I am now learning that that PS has a nice learning curve. There are some more difficult textures that I may attempt in a few days such as rust, realistic water and skin. But no promises are to be made concerning them.

ok guys sometime tommorrow I will release a couple of these texture to the community for free. I will release one of the water textures and probably both stonewall textures and one rockface texture. Keep a look out for these. They will not be made seemless. this is something that you will have to have a go at on your own. You will also have to resize them to either 256x256 or 512x512. They all will be .png and .tga file types, if you want them in a different formatt let me know and I will convert them for you.

To be honest, they aren't all that great. No offense. They're okay, but anyone with photoshop and a couple of tutorials off the net could do this. I'm sure I've seen the same kind of water texture in some tutorial somewhere, because I've done one that's almost exactly the same. Start making them seamless, and they'll definetly be a lot better though.

Isn't that how you learn? Oh by the way really think about what you just said. Anyone who has the program and a few tutorials to learn from can do this. thats the point of tutorials.

Thanks for the input though.

awsome fredp, I like the second rock and water pics. I think what I need to do is make a texture that is 2048x2048 and then brake it down in segments of 512x512. that way you will have a large patter before the repeat.

No problem.
They are some really nice textures.
I am thinking about using the water texture for a water decal.

Nice banner.
I went to an online banner making site to make my lastest sig banner.
Your banner has pretty lettering and colors.
It blows mine away.

Looks pretty good on your site but I think it gets overpowered by the pure red text. If you tone down the text to the maroon in the banner, I think it would work well with the subdued look you have there.

You're right. It could be brightened up but just keep an eye on the saturation when you do. Shoot for a little higher up on the midtones range. Not as white as the highlights but just a little more. I have a feeling it will be tricky because you run the risk of it looking too pastel. The subtitle text in the banner looks good for small text against black... the color you need for the text might be in there somewhere.
