Angry? I think that's the wrong word isn't it?

That was the first page I was taken to on that site; that's the first thing I saw of it.

Seriously... how's that racist? It's having a dig at the "style" of a specific grup of black people.

Steve Coogan's Tony Ferrino has a go at the Portuguese and I'm not offended. I'm sure scowsers aren't offended at Harry Enfield. Or Spanish people at Mike Meyers. I'm sure if the Spanish knew Manuel from Fawlty Towers is spanish (over there, for some reason, he's italian or something!) they wouldn't be offended.

We all need to take things more lightly in this day and age and have a bit more fun.

Personally, I think none of it is inherently racist, no matter who you are, or where you come from - because it pretty much takes the piss out of every damn thing!

I mean, http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Christianity isn't much better (if anything it is worse).

It is designed to be satirical, and it does it to everything as well as Islam - it is not unique in its treatment to Islam (and Islamic persons) so please don't feel offended

El Goorf: Uncyclopedia was created to specificially annoy people who take it abit too seriously like you.

There's not a single person or thing in this world Uncyclopedia doesn't make fun off. Get in line if you want to preach about how offensive it is.

(Not to suggest I am racist, but it's utterly pointless to rage against Uncyclopedia as it is there for the sole reason of pissing people off)

well actually i dislike seeing any form of unfair discrimination against groups of people. i always stick up for people - no matter who they are - when i hear people making unfair comments about them.

edit:

just like with the danish cartoons... i dont see the comedy behind branding a whole group of already vulnerable people as terrorists, escpecially when theres people dying as a result of terrorism and the war on terror

Wow!

I've wanted to contribute to Wikipedia for a couple of years now, but I haven't gotten around to it.

When I discovered Uncyclopedia.org (thanks to you, David R), there was no hesitation - I had to sign up right away! This website is totally for me! I'm already working tirelessly on my first article.

I can really get behind a website like this. It's a good fit for me.

I totally agree with that, do it myself also, but that site is not supposed to be taken seriously at all. It kinda lost it's credibility on the ever-so-popular "kitten huffing" stuff.

I like UNews better then uncyclopedia though.

That was a unfair question because you would have to define "anti-semetic". That definition is almost ast obscure as "terrorist" is now.

Why people feel they must defend everyone all the time is beyond me. I usually mind my own business, and defend only if I have to. But being anal about it and pretending to be offended over every single little thing is getting tiring and annoying.

I sometimes like to defend other persons/groups, just to highlight how pig-headed someone is being about them. However, I usually only do this if the group relates back to me.

This issue however, is completely different. Its humour. It is designed to make of fun of people, and it isn't being stigmatic toward a particular race or group - it does it about everyone and everything.

What's going on here, is people being over-sensitive and too P.C. Its as if you are using your religion as an excuse just to shun something because it is 'offending' you - and fair does, it may well be offending you, and it may be offending others, and it even states this as something it does as part of being humorous - but for some reason, you must make it blatantly obvious that you are being offended. While its all well and great to hear that, I don't think anyone really cares.

I mean, its worse than this ridiculous "Cartoons of Allah" thing that happened ages ago. I know I'm treading on thin ice here in regards to the AUP; but who (like me) believes that although 'they' are all OTT about being 'offended' by this cartoon, they wouldn't give two hoots about, say, an anti-semetic cartoon - and its unlikely that the Jewish people would care either. But no, for some reason, people who are over sensitive about their religious status deem it necessary to make it very clear when they are offended, and make a big thing about it.

It is annoying. Plain and simple.

Yah, Christians are pretty much mocked in every shape in form across all media types, and nobody gives a steaming crap because it's socially acceptable.

Funny how Ricky Gervais can rant about the Bible and Christians but I'll bet you $100 he wouldn't do a 20 minute rant about Muslims or Jews.

@ Jeku

It really boils down to what you're saying about each religions. The prohphet mohammed's face is a very sensitive area on islam and therefore people should respect that(well, in the media atleast). I haven't seen anyone joke about christianity's sensitive areas like who Adam and Eve's kids _did_ in order for the human race to survive. Think about that.....or rather don't. Catch my drift?

I don't get an inch offended by anyone bashing any religions because i hate all of them, but that doesn't mean i shouldn't have any respect for the religious who do get offended by it, it's called empathy.

i dunno how it is in canada, but in the UK, theres abig issue about muslims intergrating into british society. we'd all find it a lot easier if people at least looked as if they were trying to get along.

I would have thought that the "subliminal" condoming of incest in christianity is a very sensitive issue. I have no idea what you're reffering to about Noah's grandkids though, please enlighten me.

I don't watch much TV anymore, but i can't really say i've seen any christianity bashing around. I would like a recent example or two of this if you have any.

But back in those days incest wasn't illegal, and iirc churches used to give kids around 10yrs lsd every day? not to mention they used to burn suspected witches in the old days, that in no way means people do it in this day and age, and yes I too think religions are way too overated, and as an atheist I think religions are a load of bs, and I've known a few muslims and they are fine, however there is allways a group of muslims who think that they own the country and that there ways of life should be accepted here, because it's not going to happen anytime soon, but luckily we have none of that crap here in japan.

Well, considering Adam & Eve were supposed to be the very first humans, their kids had no choice but to do that. So *obviously* there was an exception.

And after the flood, Noah's family were the sole survivors. His wife and kids, and their wives/husbands (if I remember correct) were all that were left. Therefore his grandkids would have had to get down with each other to get the world repopulated

That's the only "bashing" i've seen on christianity on the media that i can recall.

Sorry dude, but to the population of Israel (not to mention to people like me) you're officialy anti-semitic, because they take anti-zionism very personally.

That would be like someone saying "I don't hate the Muslims, but I do hate the Qur'an and everything it stands for."

(And don't try to quote me on that, because that's an example. )

And I'd agree with Jeku. I don't stand up for people unless I believe I need to because it'll change something. Most of the time it won't, so I just don't bother. (e.g If a particular person is being bashed, rather then a population in general)

Not too long ago i would have thought the same, but in reality the Anti-Defamation League would label just about anyone anti-semite wether they are or not. The ADL is as corrupt as they could ever hope to be.

well last i read, a vast majority of jews in america were against zionism, and against americas support for israel in the middle east, and i've also come across wesbites such as www.jewsagainstzionism.com - which actually preaches against zionism, one of the reasons being that it's causing anti-semitism.

also one of my favourite singers is warren zevon. he happens to be a jew that campaigns against zionism (and i liked his songs before i was too young to even know what they were about, thought i'd tell you that bit before you come to any conclusion about me only liking him for being antizionist).

therefore i have come to the conclusion that being antizionist isnt being antijewish, to me they're 2 totally different concepts. judaism is the blief in God and the old testament, zionism is the belief that jews should have their own land in the palestine.

that would be saying

"I hate terrorism, therefore I hate muslims" because people associate terrorism as a part of islam- in the same way people accosiate zionism with judaism- when its simply an invalid statement.

and in the same way, the terrorist acts being committed in islams name only account for a small proportion of muslims, and a vast majority of muslims are against terrorism, just like a majority of jews being against zionism.

edit: you see, not all of us are shallow enough to only see things on the surface and then make inapropriate comments, its far more constructive to talk seriously. do you think this post would have been at all constructive if i was making jokes, saying "f-ing jew this and that?" no i'd have been flamed and banned. hopefully now you see my point about uncyclopea. i guess even in the 21st century, after things like 9/11, the world still hasn't learnt about respecting each other.

Not all, people. I associate terrorism with MI-5/6, CIA, Mossad, KGB and other "intelligence" agencies as they seem to be directly responsible for most of the worst acts.

btw, has this become sligtly offtopic now?

Well, for one thing that is all conjecture. None of that was in the Bible, which is *all* we have to go by. Dan Brown lifted assumptions from some modern authors and popularized the assertion that he was married.

However, *if* he was, and to me that's a very large *if*, I would not be offended by that at all. I mean, marriage is not evil. In other parts of his life Jesus forgave sinners and didn't treat them any different than anyone else (as obviously 100% of people are sinners). In fact, he preached directly to the outcasts of society.

I would imagine Catholics would take issue with some of that stuff, but as far as I know Christians and Catholics are not the same thing.

yes, because i dont joke about the issues, ie zionism. it's an important matter, and the arguement about it is causing bloodshed, hence i either talk seriously about the problem, or hold my toungue.

Okay, I'll give you one example: the Ricky Gervais comedy sketch he did that involves creationism. He ridicules the Bible, and insults those who believe in it. I'll email you a link to the YouTube version if you'd like, but you can just do a search if you're in a hurry.

If that was switched around, and he was ridiculing the Q'oran (sp?) and insulting Muslims who believe in it, his career would be over.

I am a large Ricky Gervais fan, so I was not particularly amused by that. Popular culture mocks Christians all the time--- it's desensitized us in my opinion.

I think its mainly because Christian persons (and many other religions) have demonstrated a degree of restraint; we don't go around moaning and groaning about everything that ticks us off.

Yeah, I would say that it has desensitized us in a way, and isn't an entirely good thing - but then again, its a much preferable situation to that of some religious groups (*cough*) who have stereotypically and also demonstrated their lack of control, by going on violent over-the-top rampages whenever something offends them.

Personally, I prefer the former situation. I also think that alot more of us are tolerant towards mild (or verbose) ridicule, and are able to just ignore it. Besides; it shouldn't matter what other people say of our religion. We know it, we believe in it, and we shouldn't give a damn what anyone else says or thinks about it.
