I know some people were waiting for me to defend Sony, but I'm not going to... in fact, I'm pretty much not going to read this thread after I post this because I'm not much in the mood to argue anymore. But I won't defend Sony because, as I've pointed out a few thousand times, I never stick up for companies that crush smaller companies. I think it's hilarious that everyone on here is angry at Sony over what they did, but whenever I say that I'm angry when a company (Wal-Mart, EA, Starbucks, whatever) picks on the little guy everyone and their mothers jumps down my throat
On that note, I won't defend Sony, but I will say this: Lik Sang wasn't being sued just because Sony had a grudge, and if it were Microsoft or Nintendo suing them (and in case any of you forgot,
they did in 2002) I'm willing to bet, oh, everything I own on the fact that 90% of you would turn a blind eye. But hey, if you get the chance to bash sony then I guess you've gotta take it while the gettin's good
When Nintendo and Microsoft sued them no one said a word. But anyway, as Jeku has said a thousand times in different words, all's fair in business, and while I disagree with that view in every way (for any company, including Sony), it's applicable to this situation, and anyone who agreed with Jeku when he said that should be defending Sony right now... but of course, no one is
And no, this won't annihalate Sony, nor will it really hurt them in any way, and you can take that to the bank. Sony is a really, really, really big company, and Lik Sang is, at best, an obscure little modchip company. Let's compare demographics: How many people know who Sony is? Oh, 2/3rds of the civilized world, got it. Lik Sang? Exactly. Most people (I mean the general consumer public) don't know *anything* about this, and if they did, it wouldn't change anyone's opinion. Unless of course they already hate Sony, and as hard as it might be for some people to face this fact (and yes, it's a FACT): Most people, the general consumer public, love Sony's hardware, and besides you guys, who can blame them
And the amount of money Sony is spending on developing the PS3 isn't that much different than what Microsoft spent on the first XBox... consoles cost a lot to develop, all consoles, and somehow this is only mentioned when Sony is making a console. I'm curious as to how much the 360 cost to create as opposed to the Wii and PS3. I wouldn't be surprised if the Wii was the least-expensive, but the 360 and PS3... it's not like either was cheap to make.
Didn't mean that to sound as hostile as I'm sure it did, but ugh, everyone on TGC loves ripping into Sony when they do bad things, and they ignore the fact that other companies have done it a lot... drives me nuts! Anyway, that's all I have to say about it. Sony is wrong, but I've been chastised for saying that before about other companies, so screw it
