It is with great happiness that we can convey that the newest member of this esteemed organisation (Nicholas Kingsley) has passed all required tests to become a full CHIMP – these tests include the desire to use alternative operating systems to Winsnooze, and the means, ability and desire to purchase multiple non-Winbooze computers – in this case several iMac machines.
It also defines a new and exciting avenue for programming development. No longer shackled to Microsnot's Visual Studio, other development systems can now be used, like XCode 2 and later on, version 3. And other programming delights.
Alas, it also comes at a price (although not a personal one) : All home C development using Microshaft's Visual Studio and GSDK will be stopped, abandoned and generally forgotten about... The idea is that later on, all backup code will be released for public effification and general consumption (but not internally).
The reasons for a better computing experience are many and varied, but include :
A) Being too cheap to buy new anti-virus programs, and having no real desire to re-purchase more decent defragging programs.
B) Not agree with Microscew's vision of Vista
C) The general feeling that the GSDK has been taking as far as possible, with the result that it is too tired to find its way back to good ol' Blighty.
We have been asked to say that the past 3 or 4 years have been interesting, and no doubt exciting as well, but now there is a new path to tread – and its Apple flavoured.
