unique in what way? You may as well have just asked:

how much water would a water pump pump, if a water pump could pump water? (this at least has a definite answer)

Exactly. If you're making games in Dark Basic it's only unique if you didn't copy it from someone else, of course.

Gamer Making you should really stop posting useless threads.

Gamer Making, you'll probably ignore this message because this is from the voice of experience... don't buy Darkbasic Classic get Darkbasic Pro instead. You'll be much better equipped to make "cool" code.

No problem.

I see no one got my joke, I copied putting "exactly" after a quote from Sixty Squares, making that not unique. Ok, it's a bad joke.

Yeah, but a word of advise:
Read all the stickies before posting, don't spam, don't ask for help if you haven't even tried that much, and don't ask for people to do stuff for you... like join a team or program or model for you, unless you have a game thats (at least) 12% done.

Gamer Making, the point of a forum is that all of the information shared on it can be accessed at any time. Youve already asked xenocythe for his AI stuff in your previous thread, that thread is still there, just use the search box at the bottom of the forum and youll find it.

Now, please, PLEASE read this Gamer Making;

I know you're new here. I just want to bring it to your attention that you are being extremely annoying. Please follow these rules before making another post on these forums;

- First, before you even think of making a post, try to do it yourself. If you show tht you've done some work on the question yourself, you'll get a lot more answers.

- Second, if you still cant figure the problem out, use the search box at the bottom of the forum to check to see if your question has already been asked and answered. We do -NOT- care if you're too lazy to search for the answer, generally the feeling is if you're too lazy to search for it, we're too lazy to answer.

- If you still cant find an answer to your problem, make a post. Use a descriptive title name for the post. That means, do -NOT- use titles like "xenocythe i need help!" or "how do I do this".

- In the text part of the post, be sure to write clearly and to the point. Check over your grammar, dont use a bunch of capitals, make sure all code is inside code boxes, etc.

- Also, be sure to ask politely. At the same time, BE DESCRIPTIVE
write everything you need help with, dont assume we can read your mind!

- Finally, after you've posted, WAIT. This forum isnt an instant messenger, it might take an hour for someome to respond, or it might take a day or two. Just WAIT.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT ask someone to make an entire game for you. Asking questions like "xenocythe can you make me a maze game" is rude, offensive, and will definitely lower your popularity on these forums to that of a pile of monkey poop.

Please, Gamer Making, remember those rules, stick to them, and you'll find people will become a lot less annoyed of you (and belive me, as of now you're being extremely annoying).

<EDIT>

And also, Im not sure if you're aware of this, but your name doesnt make sense. Maybe something went wrong in the translation, but it should be Game Maker.

</EDIT>

- RUC'

Yeah, I am sorry I ever even attempted to defend Gamer Making(see the thread labled "Cool Math Code!!!) because he just doesn't understand. These forums are designed to discuss game design and programming, and to help those that actually need it. Please, stop posting such useless comments just because you are bored.
@Gamer Making

I have a suggestion if you feel like posting useless junk. Go to http://invisionfree.com and make yourself a free forum. Then you can spam it all you like and we won't have to suffer the repurcussions of your immaturity(In case those words were to big for you, please see http://dictionary.com) I am sick of the stupidity of noobs. I am surprised the mods have allowed you to retain your account here. Leave us if you are just going to annoy us to wit's end. If I want to be annoyed, I'll ask. You continue to bump other people's questions and useful information with your stupid crap.

There, I am now on the list of noob flamers(who came up with that word, anyway?) Noobs, beware my extensive vocabulary of words you won't understand! They will drive you into the ground and fry your weak minds into a shapelss stockpile of sizzing stew(alliteration, noobs!)

Soroki, you're way out of line. Dont use such a degrading term like "noob", especially when by most definitions, you still are one. Its fine if you've changed your mind set on forum moral, but theres no need to be an ass.

It sure will, better be careful Gamer Making. I remember seeing RUCCUS's monkey poop model awhile back.

You wouldn't want that as your avatar, would you? Neither would you want your popularity to look like that either, I hope. I've read some of your threads, and you might want to think twice before you hit the post message button. And, listen to RUCCUS, use the search box.

Now there is an idea!

Instead of MODS's giving out noob slaps to idiots that refuse to obey the forum rules they should be given embarassing avatars. I seem to remmeber Phaleax (I think it was him) was forced to have a wooden spoon as an avatar for using the MOD medalion as his avatar. A steaming pile of poop would be more of an insentive not to post. It would also instantly inform other forum members that this person has recently been an anoyance!

I am as well. As for the noob part, I have been a part of these forums for nearly a year, and I may ask noobish questions occasionally, but that does not make me a noob. Many great programmers make mistakes. It happens to everyone.

I don't consider myself a "noob", even though I've only been here for about 3 months but how many "noobs" make a tutorial 3 months after they join? I see Sixty Squares did, though. (By the way, 60[]s, the link to your functions tutorial doesn't work)

Tbh don't rise to his comment, he's just using offence as defence. Really being a noob at programming depends on how long you've been programming in general, after a while you realise the only difference between languages is just permissions, and the rest is just syntax...

This is rediculous, stop using derogatory terms like "noob", it makes you sound like a complete idiot.

Soroki, your time on the forums bares no effect on your skill or experience with programming in dark basic pro. Based on the simplicity of all of your posts asking for help, you've still got a hell of a lot to learn your self, including not being such a hypocrit on the forums. First you stand up for someone whos new, then change your mind because the majority of the people posting disagree with you, then you proceed to call Gamer Making a "noob", when in the very beginning you were fighting to stop people from treating newcommers badly.

Drop the "Ive been here longer than you so Im better" stuck up attitude, and let this post die.

"Newbie" is a relative term. We are all "newbies" in one way or another. I haven't done that much with calling windows dll's so I am a "newbie" in that respect.

Gamer Making, It's not a good idea to post your age on the forums, particularly if you are that young... you may notice that last time your revealed your exact age, it was removed from your post.

Now, it is good that you use dark basic, but instead of telling the world that you've learned how to print sums to the screen. try something else - moving graphics around the screen.

Load up the following file, it should come with Dark Basic:

This draws a circe to the screen and moves it around when you press a direction on your gamepad.

What would show real progress would be to have 4 different circles:
1 for gamepad
1 for keyboard
1 for mouse
1 that moves around by itself

so if you press a direction on your gamepad, move your mouse, or press an arrow key on your keyboard. The relevant circle moves around.

someone experienced will have that up and running in about 15 minutes. If you and your dad sit and think about it (I don't know how experienced you are when put together). I'd say 6 hours maximum, and you'd have it working. I know it's not a game, but many experienced members here didn't start out with projects like Firewall and Geisha House. they require lots of experience before they're even started.

It really doesnt surprise me that this guy is [modedit young]. Blatently needs a good ban hammering. Seriously dude, dont start by making a "game", start by making stuff move around, and making an animated sprite, or have two sprites which bounce around and print "HIT" when they hit eachother, things like that. Always start small and work up. You know the first "game" I ever made with C? A text based guess my number game. Let me repeat the lesson here, START SMALL.

Quote: "particularly if you are that young..."

Whenever there's a prompt on the internet that askes you how old are you, if you put in an age too low it will say something like "Sorry, you're too young to view this content." Usually those prompts don't care how old you are; they're testing you to see if you're dumb enough to put your actual age on the internet. Little kids don't often know that forums, Runescape, and Myspace (I hate Myspace), are public. The little kids that put in a fake age are let through because they understand that the internet is a dangerous place when you hand out personal information.

No offense, Gamer Making, but computer programming is one of the most mentally challenging tasks us humans can do. It is recommended that you be at least 10 years old. I'm not going to say how old I was when I started programming because I've already posted how long I've been programming; if someone found both posts they could deduce my age.

True, there's a lot of kids who program well, including myself, but if you post personal information, keep it very fuzzy.

good point, but gamer making has a typical noob problem, wanting to jump in and make a huge, gameplay/graphically rich game when not knowing much about the language. in other words, he wants us to do it all for him. good for him on slowing down posting, but i think the mods should delete such messages or move them to a special "noobs hall of shame" board, to emphasise the point thatit is all about had work and not getting everyone else to do everything so you can take credit for it. (I think if that board i mentioned had already been created, then jordan would've been the first occupant! anyone else agree?)
