I've aquired the use of a shoutcast server, under authority of kentaree and myself.

since neither of us are going to be watching over it 24/7, we've... or at least i have... deicded to let it be open to the public.

so, anyone who wishes to have FREE USE of a shoutcast server, come and find me or kentaree in the #radio irc channel, at irc.devhat.net

numerous others have already been given access, including jrowe, mnemonix and las6

so, enquire within

ps. if im not in #radio, i'll be in #lobby. if i'm not there, you need to wait for me to come home from school ^_^

For those who listened to shows last year, you will be delighted (or horrified) to learn that I am soon to be broadcasting again .

I have quite a varied playlist, so come on and request something and I will probably be able to play it, but the genre is going to be rock as a general rule.

Screaming is not music. Although half of Dehumanization counts as music, it sucks.

Lol, I sincerely hope you're joking Jimmy Poopoo down the street playing his used First Act guitar sucks. Bobby with his warez copy of FL Studio making a drum beat sucks. NIN and TOOL, who actually spend a decent amount of time composing the score and lyric for their music, dont.

I have done already. I'm not saying what though. To be honest, I wouldn't request any of the stuff I really like, because most of it isn't mainstream like the stuff that's being played.

I agree, screaming is not music. Nor is rap, which is talking when they're supposed to be singing

Some types of metal do actually have talent involved, but a lot don't.

Because it's a double standard. Before I explain, I'll tell you now that my opinion is uneducated and probably wrong - but I don't care.

You'll get all sorts of teenagers discussing how cool DeathFace's (or whatever) latest track is, discussing how they identify with the lyrics, about how sucky life is, about anarchy and wanting to die (or whatever) .... and then they call their mother to come pick them up and take them back to their nice, suburban middle class home.

99% of kids grow out of metal - probably into a "what was I thinking?" stage. They move onto better things. I don't mind Rock per se (e.g. Foo Fighters, and I'm gonna see Tenacious D if I can) but metal is just durge.

I agree with you adr, a lot of metal is like that. The majority infact. And the majority of teenage 'fans' of music generally listen to music because of what it is, not because of what it sounds like. It's the reason why so many bands like Slipknot focus more on the image than the music.

However, there are some metal bands that do actually create good music. I don't know of any recent metal bands capable of this, however.

Well theres different kinds of metal, you see, and not all of it talks about killing yourself and doing drugs, but I see where you're coming from and I agree The metal I tend to like, I do because of the progressive or complex musicality of it, therefore there isn't much metal I enjoy. In fact, I hardly find myself listening to the lyrical matter of a song, rather how the melody of lyrics incorporate with the rest of the score, which is probably also why I don't listen to rap or screaming often

So, can only one person broadcast at a time? (*has no idea how it works*)

Yes, the way it works is you download a plugin for winamp, which allows you to connect to the server and stream the music you're playing up

@peter, if someone else is broadcasting, you wont be able to connect to the server (as a dj), you can hammer away at the "connect" button all you want, and it'll never happen ^_^
