I've got a Ti4800 - got all the details up high in Unreal 2 - works very nicely...

By the way, I completed Unreal 2 (on the medium setting) in around 2/3 days (it was over a weekend)... I put a post about it on here when I did...

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...

i also ran it on a 4800Ti, run beautifully with all the settings to max
also run it with an FX 5800Ti though, FSAA 8x hehee the graphics are so smooth its not even funny - though admitidly that was on a AGP8x w/1.5Gb Ram at its disposal, and i think the Dual Pentium4 2.28Ghz probably helped a lil too ... was running at 1600x1200x32 (pitty it doesn't have 128bit colour yet)

it was over a little quicker than i expected took me like 8-9hrs, but for me thats a pretty long game, you played Blue Shift Toady? lmao i completed it within an 1hr20min - and thats only because i kept running around in circles in the Xen tunnels (my sense of direction sucks)

Within the Epic battle of the fates the Shadow and the Angel will meet. With it will harbinger the very fight of good vs evil!

No, haven't really played Half-life except when I borrowed a copy, and tried to deflect a laser-beam with a crow-bar.

I might get Half-life 2, but thats about it, but I probably wont bother with the original.

I am looking forward to Doom 3, as long as it can be played at a reasonable speed, but probably looking forward more to Elite Force 2 (although I wish they would drop the Quake engine).

From what i know they're actually using Raven software's Quake4 Engine for Elite Force 2 - i can't wait to see what Raven are doing with Quake4 as i've been anxious for that game for almost ever.

Half-Life is a bloody good game, the engine is quite aged by todays standards... i mean even my Laptop can run it at almost top specs (but then the actual engine was pretty buggy) - i'd suggest you borrow it again and play it from one end to the other.
Was one of the only games that actually took me around 13hrs to finish (which is a good achievement) and the storyline is there to suck you in with some good atmosphere

only problem was the end few levels just sucked and it seemed like a bad Sci-Fi series. I hope they've improved the story about Xen and actually the appearance of Xen itself.
What i don't understand is you play as Gordon Freeman again, but its set a good few years in the future - yet he hasn't ages a mite. lol

Doom3 is being tonned down right now to be multiplatform better, alot of the hypergraphics in it are being tonned down - latest screenshots are actually looking pretty disappointing ... i hope to hell the PC one retains the level of detail i saw in Engine3.

personally i've only been looking forward to TR:AoD and i'm actually a happy bunny because i have it now
however i'm still recreating my own version of TR, because i think i can actually do it more justic with upgrading the characters to something darker.
I know that the current version is good - but even when Lara is doing something evil, like throwing a guy she's knocked out in a furnace but you don't feel she is evil or bad... luckily i excel at making very evil characters (thought some might aruge i have a good frame of reference hehee)

hey you downloaded Oni yet? god that game brings back alot of good memories

:: hang head in shame :: i think i'm obsessed with the game, but atleast i'm not obsessed with Konoko, just the game

"Better than being obsessed with Aida..."

Hmmmmm....

TR:AoD, Looks interesting. Might get it.
Have to agree with MRTAToad about the older Tomb Raider games. Put me off a little. However, things have improved alot since them.

Has anyone played BloodRayne? I bought it a few weeks ago. Not got round to installing it yet though. The storyline looked different from other games.

I came across this posting. It was posted on the planet unreal website. Probably by one of the team at Legend. Its about the sequel to Unreal 2. PLEASE, ignore if you don't want to know yet. They are looking for a level designer, static mesh creator (3d artist) and texture artist. If you have the skills why not take up the challange. Looks like it will be a really good Epic Adventure, it relates to what happened at the ending of Unreal 2.

Aftermath - A single player episode

***SPOILERS for UNREAL 2 CONTAINED IN THIS DOCUMENT***

With the loss of Aida and his other crew, Dalton becomes depressed and decides to drop his Marine reinstatement for a life of drinking. Three years pass and still Dalton continues to drink--his status as a hero and saviour slipped off the radar and he is now considered the local drunk. At one point he was telling Izaak not to go back to the bottle, now he himself is stuck with the same problem. Nothing could have prepared him for what was about to come.

Midnight, Daltons Place
-----------------------

/A message awaits on his computer--the screen flashes "Message Received" while illuminating the walls and objects scattered over the metallic table/

Dalton walks into his home, stumbling over his clothes and chairs and ends up tripping on his CAR and falls face first into his Cyber-Maxim magazines. He shakes it off and searches for a place to rest. He finds his black computer chair. He notices a new message has been received and opens it:

[Item: 4545 of 4548]
[Title: Alive]
[Size: 5.6gigabyes]
[Type: VidEx 4.5 format]

John double clicks his mouse, not knowing exactly what he had done...

"John, I hope you get this message--I'm sure you are still alive and I hope to god, for our sake, that you are. This is Aida. I know it sounds crazy, but you have to believe me. The Atlantis you saw that exploded was a clone. When we went to evacuate you and the remaining marines, we hit a warmhole and as we entered it another ship just like the Atlantis came flying out. And it was strange because the debris next to our ship also cloned--it's almost as if the wormhole was a cloning device of somesort or was at least connected to something greater. But that is besides the point--we are alive. Ne'Ban, Izaak and I are alright. A little hungy, but we are ok. This part of space we are in is new to us. Dozens of ships have flown passed us over the past few hours. I tried to get a connection with their communication network but nothing came up. We recorded video of the ships passing by and judging from this footage, the ships were of high calibre--they contained many weapons and missles. Also one read - Soldiers on the side with the number 45 66 334 next to it. At least we aren't alone, but we will continue to search for more information. If you get this, please come for us--The communication network routing code is 00992. However, you must travel to the Source planet, because the technology there is currently the only technology to be able to conneect to that routing code. Good luck and we hope to hear from you soon."

Transmission Complete

"What the hell-it's just the booze, I must be drunk-I need sleep" John says in a stuttering voice

The next morning, John finds himself on the floor next to his dirty underwear with the thought of Aida's message still with him. He gets up and runs to his computer and finds the message is still there...

"So it wasn't a dream--Aida is really alive! I must find her."

Join John Dalton in a totally new story which expands the already excellent story of Unreal 2. This project is geared towards gamers who want more out of Unreal 2 as it's a continuation of the existing story.

New features include:

-Driveable vehicles *Possible*
-New weapons
-Completely new and improved levels
-More intense combat and situations
-Commander Mode - Drop supplies and weapons on the battle field in real time.

These features are simply on paper at the moment and are things we want to incorporate if possible. We believe it will heighten the overall Unreal experience.

Currently I' am in need of a level designer, static mesh creator (3d artist) and texture artist. If you are interested in this project or want to know more, please email me at: agent_empire@yahoo.com

The full, edited, story is currently in development and will be available on the website once it goes live.

Thanks

Finally got around to trying Oni - its Oki (no pun intended).
Its rather a basic game (again, no pun intended) - certainly wouldn't buy it.
Graphics aren't too bad, but I've no love for Manga type of things - the speech is rather irritating...

speech... i musta missed that
i think its a great game, kinda wish that Bungie worked on 2 before they were assimilated made it with more puzzles kinda like Tomb Raider : Angel of Darkness is like.

there is no mistaking though, although its an american game it is very very true to the Manga routes - the story is quite cool.
Konoko & Muro are brother and sister who were both orphaned at 3years old... Muro was hidden by the Syndicate and Dr. Hirishami(i think that his name) was arrested when the TCTF raided Konoko's fathers lab. They took Konoko to be raised as a soldier as an "insurance policy".
The insurance was against Muro, because Konoko's father along with Hirishami developed something called the Crysalis, which is a small organic crystal implanted in the chest of a subject. It immediately begins to merge with the individual and change them physilogically & mentally as well. The idea was to allow people to be able to live in the forbidden world.

The forbidden world is the world outside of the World Cohillion Cities which is a ravaged land by a nuclear war that destroyed nearly the whole planet.
Before Konoko's father died he implanted a crystal in both Konoko and Muro to give them a chance to live whereever they chose.
Unfortunately the TCTF interfered before it was all complete, so the Crysalis' were actually unstable and experimental ... so thoughout the game you have a moral battle which rages inside you of good and evil.

Or so you're lead to believe, it is only once Muro is dead and you learn the truth that you start to wonder ... and the ending is probably the best i've seen for quite a while in any game

For third person games, I still prefer Max Payne - nothing else comes close to the detail and action (Atari should take note!).

Oni certainly wasn't bad - its more like a kiddies game though...

And yes, I do have Catz & Dogz 5...

i dunno maybe its just cause i'm into Animé alot... i didn't see it as a kiddie game, especially considering it is hard as rocks.

The early levels are fine, you get past level5 hehee well it just gets so hard so quick - one of the biggest reasons for Bungies poor sales was cause the American market couldn't handle the games difficulty a patch for the PC version was released as well as bungie posting up ALL of the cheat codes as well as giving an official link to a difficulty changer. Personally i beat it without any cheats of any kind, but that dream leve ... christ thats as tough as they come because you can't hit the bloody buggers, your against munkin men at the start like 10 of them and thier all so small and its so hard to hit them. Then your ambushed by 2 pretty powerful guys. It wouldn't be so bad but there is only 1 hypo on the entire level, and for that level it isn't the number of guys or weapons its thier enhanced Ai compaired to the rest.

i mean the only bit which is hard is when you have to get past Shinitama, but thats only because there is a bug in the code so the laser triggers thing you've hit them when you haven't. Even with the bug i still got past hehee
not easy when you have the Banshee Bullets after you, i know its not thier real name - but they scream they look alot like that ammo that the woman in FF:TSW uses to see the phantoms.

don't get me wrong here i love max payne, but personally i think that Oni is just so much better ... though to be honest i'd of liked the graphics to have been better - i dunno what it was about them but it just doesn't fit the atmosphere & the standard OpenGL shading didnt' help matters. That might be why you think it was like a kiddies game
