Ugh, where should I start? I don't expect everyone to know everything about computers, but if you have one, you should at least not be stupid about them.
This is what happened at school a few weeks ago:
Quote: "
Teacher: Ok, I have a program here that will calculate the shortwave solar radiation on a given day. It's an old program written in DOS.
Students: DOS? What's DOS?
Me: Disk Operation System
(teaher loads program)
(students see DOS graphics)
Students: Ahh!! It's from the 60s!! Stupid old software.
"
As if DOS was from the 60s and software actually gets stupid as time goes on!
I hate it when people call the moniter "the computer" and the computer "the monitor"
And when internet preditors think they can get away with stuff by smashing their computers to bits, forgetting to smash the hard drive.
What I hate most of all, is people who can't program at all, but think they're experts with computers because they can do a PowerPoint presentation and use Window's drag and drop feature.
EVERYONE in my school is like this, but I'm the
only one knows what the ASCII table is, the
only one that's ever written a computer program. These people may say they can hack, when they're really downloading software to hack for them. A few days ago:
Quote: "
Classmate: Hey, what's the website that takes the school's internet blocker off?
Me: I don't know.
(she searches for "unblocking browser website")
Me: You shouldn't be searching for that, the system administators might check the autocomplete.
Classmate: Shut up! You don't know what you're talking about!
"
"Did I ever tell you how I got the nickname the Dragon of the West?"
"I'm not interested in a lengthy anecdote, Uncle."
"It's more of a demonstration really."
