When I create a cloth it is larger than the dimensions that I give any ideas?

Is this a bug with the create cloth command or am I doing something wrong

Thanks in advance

It appears that the cloth is divided into segments, and for an unknown reason, it thinks that 4 segments are not enough to reach the required dimension so it adds another segment. Strange, if you ask me, as the size of the segment should be calculated on the original dimensions.

Don't know if it is a bug, most probably it is.

An easy workaround is to set the dimensions at a slightly lower value than required:

That certainly fixed the issue although I am still confused about how making the cloth dimensions 3.99 x 1.99 x 1.0 is 20% smaller than the original 4 x 2 x 1

thanks again

I'll try to explain better

The cloth is build according to the segment size i.e. the depth parameter in the phy set cloth dimensions command. In this case the segment size is 1, therefore it should create a 4x2 cloth.

From the help files on the phy set cloth dimensions command, there is this part:

Quote: "The number of vertices that comprise the mesh is defined as ( ( width / depth ) + 1 ) * ( height / depth ) + 1 ). "

Working using this formula, will get ( ( 4/1) + 1 ) x (2/1) + 1) = 5 x 3 cloth

So in order to get the size you want, you reduce your dimensions. Actually, using a depth of 1, there is no difference in the cloth size between phy set cloth dimensions MyCloth,3,1,1 and phy set cloth dimensions MyCloth,3.9,1.9,1

Hope that this cleared things up!

EDIT: Conclusion, it is not a bug, just the way it is implemented.
