Likely just a local incident, all it takes is a kid in the class others look up to to ridicule the soccer fan, then all the others will follow.

Could be that Women's teams are the only American teams that have had any real success.

Could also be the image of soccer here in the states as more of a kid's game, like kickball or teeball, no matter how incorrect that perception may be. Heck we have pro-dodgeball leagues, and they draw bigger attendence then MLS (go figure).

In my opinion David Beckham is a waste of money, time and space. Think about it, he was kicked out of the England team because he was useless in the World Cup. I just feel sorry for any other teams unfortunate enough to come across him.
