I'm looking for a free utility that will assemble a stream of bitmap files into a .AVI file. Anyone have any links? In fact, if you know of one that went both directions, that would be even more ideal!

Use windows movie maker... its 100% free and 100% functional... It comes with windows... I once made a fairly pain free stop animaion using about 850 photos... it should be what your looking for... and also... to get pics from movie files just step through each frame and use the "snapshot" button to same the frame to a picture file... There u have it. Hope it helps!
