This can be cool for titles, fantasy names etc...

Animals a re a pain... Did you see that game collosus or whatever its called.. you can get on a horse and ride... WOW.... you need a movie studio, a real horse, huge green backdrop (or red or blue) and 2 QUALITY cameras, and a lot of rigging to mount ping pong balls all over the horsey!

Animals are a challenge! If I had the dough... I'd really look around for something I could buy to include in my game LOL... Good Luck Gil... I Know you'll figure something out!

lol, I don't think I'll get that involved in making them, I think I'll buy an animated horse model for $20 online somewhere and stick it in the game .

Here's an alternate logo for Terra Nova Creations, let me know which you like more:

Or the other option (for now):

YAY Rami! (Gil - I think this image from the_rami ROCKS!)

Nice Job! I like how it has its own unique brand! Very "Recognizable"

Gil - I think the huge "earth" shots are over done... I mean - even my uncle's hotdog stand for crying out loud has it: http://www.spherebrothershotdogs.com/

You know what would be interesting?

Having the logo be animated, and have the globe rotate.

For the logo, create a 3d scene and animate it and make it flashy and all.
There is a logo tut like the globe with a text on 3ds max.

I think they mean buying the 3D Model of a horse instead of making one for the game. As it saves time and awkwardness.

Gil has put something a lot more important than money into this game. You don't get this far without tons of effort and hours. Also I believe Gil is planning on selling a later version of this(?).

But I'm not saying go buy a model or don't, Gil. I'm just saying if you want to, you have plenty of justification.

Will there be cutscenes?

That would be awesome, but I wouldn't know how to do it .

As I said on IM, it's too metallic looking imo but I do like the earth and the font, I just want gold in the lettering though, or at least to try it .

Quote: "Will there be furries in this game?"

Lol, as tempting as it is I think I'll leave them out .

Quote: "Yes, but if the game is free, why does he consider buying models?

Well, anyways i wont stop him if he wants to

Because I like developing games, same reason I'd buy programs to make the game in . Still working on the second, lol, I went to see Iron Man yesterday then out to eat then came home and watched transformers, so I didn't get much time to work on it then, and today I've been studying for AP (Advanced Placement classes, get you college credit if you do well) exams that are this week, so I didn't get much done, and probably won't get much done this week because of exams . Also the text adventure compo planning thread has inspired me to continue working on Escape from Alendar to enter this year (but I want to reiterate that PoPR is and will UNTIL COMPLETION be my main project).

Yes, there will be a free version and a larger full version .

Haven't decided, the offer is still open to Seppuku or Cian, or anyone else for that matter, I'm not great at writing stories unless I plan on making a story game from the beginning .

Yup, now that I've got what I wanted out of the way, I'm going to tie some ideas together for you mate - judging some thoughts from your very Morrowind-esque engine, so I'm working on the story line and pieces of writing for a quest. Though it looks to me you've built a town, are there any design plans like that, which the 'story writer' should know first?

Great . I don't really think there's much about the town you need to know, I think it'd be easier for me to modify the town around your story rather than you try to build the story around the town. I guess you know that I'm going for realism, so no fantasy skeleton pirates .

About that image, why is it so flat?
Is it hard to make terrain realistic?

I just thought it was flat so the town would be level - just for convenience for player and developer. If memory serves, the video showed that behind the camera in that pic is a mountain or a hill or something, so it's not all flat.

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

It is hard to make terrain perfect. And to the look of that picture, i think it's a not-finished-yet town. Gil probably planned to put more houses on that plain area.

Correct me if i'm totally wrong.

Actually all of the towns and stuff you've seen in videos so far are made just for testing or video purposes in the world editor, none of them are the actual town yet . It'd be a bit pointless to make the town and wait for it to load or worry about other bugs when all I'm doing is say, testing NPC pathfinding, so I'd just make a few obstacles in the world editor and a hill, and use that map. All I did for the map in those screenshots is line up the new buildings with a few trees, make a bay for the ship, and make a hill for me to walk up onto to take the screenshot from . So none of the final town(s) is done yet, but thankfully the world editor should make it easy. Most of the maps you've seen in the videos so far only take a few minutes to create.

I know how to make those puppies totally vanish! If you don't email me or post so and I'll send ya the majy command sequence LOL

I think its looking great!

I'd love for you to tell me, lol, skybox lines have always been a problem for me, I guess I could just use a skysphere, but I don't have as many of those to use .

You should ask Whetam_ to make a logo for you as a cleaner version of Rami's style. I think it would look fantastic.

Anyways don't worry about the terrain, it's not the best looking but it can still be nice and bumpy... at least in my village it is.

Done. And as for those who are wondering what Cian is talking about when he says "my village", it's because he has the world editor and engine as they stand now since he has been with the project from the beginning as a designer and the 2D artist, and will also be helping me create the PoPR world.

I haven't worked on it for 2 weeks because I had AP exams for 2 weeks, and then I got a new game (ArmA: Combat Operations, great if you like realism like me, not if you prefer arcade style fast action) and was sick this last weekend that I played it basically the whole weekend straight, and now I'll be working a few hours every day this week and next week after school so I don't know how much I'll get done during the weeks, but soon I'll be all done with school (forever! unless college counts), and I'll be able to work on it a lot more.

I Bought the ArmA Gil has - but MY PC has trouble when its much more than training... which sux... need new PC! The heli's are decent, the tank is a bit much - and that mission with the mine on the road for the convoy I never beat LOL - but - it has a lot to do with my PC - that game is hardware demanding ... but VERY well done!

Yeah gold comes with both . I've been playing online, I like the "Sahrani Life" mod which is like cops and robbers . Yeah, let me know when you want to play and what server.

Quote: "There is an editor in there too you know "

Yeah, I love the editor, I've been making making a bunch of my own scenarios with things like convoy escorts, IED's, and ambushes.

Ahh, yeah, I have to play on low, but in a few weeks I'll be getting a laptop that is supposed to be great for gaming, so hopefully I'll be able to crank the settings up. Did you put all the graphic settings to very low when you played? Yeah, it is definitely quite a hard game because of it's realism, but that's part of what I like. When playing other shooters and stuff and hearing about how soldiers were engaging at "point blank" at 30 meters I thought, "that doesn't seem very close" because it wasn't in most games, but this one you're engaging from 200-300 meters sometimes like they really do. It's also amazing how the world is 400KM^2 and there is about a 10 second, one-time loading time and the rest is completely seamless. I'll go on about it's pros and cons later but now it's off to school, *sigh* (1.5 more weeks!).

And also i like the Berzerk maps, because of those big wars

Oops, lol, sorry, was in a hurry . Awesome looks good, so you made it? And if I did use it you wouldn't expect compensation for it in any way?. My only concern is that it looks a bit cartoony, maybe the body proportions are off, like the hands and feet are too big, and the legs are too short, but besides that it looks great and I'd be glad to use it .

Gil: I think it will be quite awesome for that in the game. As it reminds of TES: Redguards Pirates.

Thats one of them now.
