Wow... That is totally awesome, really. This project has a great atmosphere - it's slightly darker than how I want SeaDome to become, but overall, the look is awesome. I like your camera perspective, very claustrophobic. Finally, the fighting looked cool.

The guy looks nothing like a scientist though .

Very cool looking, looks like a lot of work has gone into this and I look forward to seeing more.

One suggestion though - the character animation looks too slow, sluggish if you will. While you probably did that on purpose to lend to the atmosphere, it doesn't look realistic.

But, like I said, nice looking. Good luck with it.

Come see the WIP!

Oh, yeah
by the time i made the video, the timers functions was not done. And i dont know why, fraps block my fps to 60-66 fps .
The game runs at 130-140 fps on my system.

@tha_rami :
Tanks Rami,
yeah, the real game model is in developement at the moment, and is not yet finished^^.
As you see, the flashlight its a cube , thats suck a bit, but yes, we are looking for 3D artists. @+

@Cash Curtis II:
Am following your WIP ( Geisha ) every day. By the way, you need to improve your animated models a lil bit.
But ho cares, we dont have millions to make a killer app . and it still looking very very good. Your Game is becoming very serious. Dont stop! Am following your Wip all the time. @+

@Gil Galvanti:
Tanks Gil, am gona upload more videos next week. The beta demo will be release sometime this summer ( 2007 ).

Am finishing the shadow system at the moment. Am having somes troubles with the Player character Shadows. I have 2 models, the visible model ( 4000 polys ) and a second one ( 600 polys ) for the shadow casting. I would like to render my 2nd player character onto the main camera, but at the same time, i dont want my visible model receive shadows ( from the 600 polys model ). If some one would like to give me a lil hint with that?^^

Greetz to all you guys and dont stop working.

Hi guys, i would like to present my all time dreams project
Forgotten Memories.
Its a Psychological Survival Horror game with a very good history, very deep and dark ( sorry for my poor english ).

Our litter team is composed by:
2 3D artist, 1 game designer, 1 audio artist and me ( the programmer ) ^^.

We are working on this project since summer 2006.
We are concentrating our energies in 4 things:
3D Graphic Rendering, Animation, Gameplay and storyline.

Short Synopsis info:
You are a scientist, Stephen H. working on a secret project ( called project 21 ). Your memory was erased, modified and disturbed. So you need to recover it.
You wake up in a hospital, alone.
You have to scape, but were? You need to remember something, but what? You have to survive the horror^^.
The hospital is located in a small town. It sems that everyone left, and the power is cut off...

Short Gameplay info:
The game environement will be very dark, and you need to stay away of the darkness, the light will be your friend. You can kill enemies with light. There will be a lots of items that will use light. Its the gameplay key of the game, the light. There will be
an energy status bar and a Fear status bar, is you stay in a dark place, the fear bar will go up and you will be starting to freaking up ^^ until the death. So stay away of the darkness ^^. Also if your caracter sees an enemy, your fear bar will go up alot^^. We are using a lots of lighting shaders.

FEATURES:

- Player Movements, with DPhysics.
- AI system, manual mode, with DAI.
- Dynamic body animation( torso and head ) following the direction of light and based on mouse movements.
- Dynamic mouse looking ( only in 3rd Camera Mode).
- Fixed 3DPoint Cameras modes.
- 3rd Camera mode.
- Smooth Switch system betwen cameras modes.
- 3D sound system, based on cameras position and a mixing sound system. Also a foot step sound system, based on frames animation.
- Stencil shadows.
- Lighting shaders: Using 2 mixed shaders from Evolveds lighting shaders, Cubic Lighting and normal map shaders. The resulting shader have 1 cubic light and up to 7 lights + specular. And a normal map shader from DarkShader.
- 5 animated models: 1 player caracter and 4 enemies.
- 1 Room test level.
- Updating system with timers.
- Triggers.

WORKING ON:

- Player Caracter shadows.
- Mini-scripting load system.
- Torso-Head dynamic animation.
- 4 level-rooms.
- Enemies: 1 creazy nurse.

FUTURE UPDATES:

- GUI system
- Game cinematics ( realtime or pre-rendered )
- More enviroments, places, levels, objects, enemies.
- Improvement on the scripted load system.

Here is a short video showing some features of the game:
http://www.youtube.com/v/W6T6I36A8Wk

And here is the creazy nurse ^^:
http://www.youtube.com/v/FDsnbfDpKH0

We are working on a web site.
This Game will be free, of course i will put a donation link on our web site, if some one wana support the projet , thats will be really apreciated . Also we are looking for 3D artists, if you are interested to work in this project, please let me know:
tatoforever@hotmail.com
Sugestions, comments are apreciated.
Again, sorry for my poor English, am a French-Canadian guy lol.
Greetz to all you guys!

A new big change to the game. The shadow system.
I add, softs shadows to the game.
It took me about 3 days to understand well the Evolved soft shadow shader, change the entire old hard shadow system and deal with the cameras bugs ( it dosent work with 6.6 and 6.6b version).

Some screenes, and tomorrow i will upload a video, showing in detail the soft shadow system.
Greetz guys.

Tanks ARRAYinator,
now, that i have sussefully integrated soft shadows, am working on litter functions to make the things more dynamics. Cause you have to exclure and hide, then do a fews renders to differents cameras then include and show objets. And all objets that cast soft shadows, need to be cloned, the geometry its about twice than a normal rendering. Its a hard work. You have to manage a lots of objets. Even all that, the the best and hardest job was done by Evolved. I moddified a bit the soft shadow shader, now you can have up to 3 normal lights + 1 cubic light. It not requires a texture to make the specular and thats mean, no pixelated specular. Am learning HLSL (entry level, dont be amazed ^^), its very impresive all the things you can do with a shader.

Tanks Chris K,
Am working on my own script system, to switch between levels. We just finished a litter outside enviroment( A street with somes houses and buildings ).
Maby tomorrow il will upload a video showing in details the loading system with thoses levels.
Again, ive included soft shadows on the outside enviroment. Its really a pain wen you have lots of objets in your enviroment.
Da**, i need to make my own level builder. I will work on it after i finish the tech demo.

Guys,
a new enviroment level was integrated into the game.
Its a litter street. I made a new video with fraps. See the atachment, its about 16 MBs.
I dont know why, the game its running too slow (26 fps ) .
The code its not yep optimised, but it think something is wrong, its that normal? I have an Athlon xp 2600+, 1 GB of ram and a geforce 6800.
The entire level has normal map. I tested too with per pixel light, and again its too slow, same fps (26-30 fps).

All your shaders are really slow : soft shadows, normal mapping, texture projection... Maybe if you reduce your textures size and the screen resolution...

Oh and your attachment doesn't work :\.

Math89,
i hav reduced textures size to 128*128, screen resolution to 800*600 and i got the same fps 26 . Something is not normal.
Here is the video:
http://www.uploading.com/files/6OAQ2U5M/FMruelle.rar.html
it seems that the file uploand dosent work well on the forum.

///////////////

I need to improve game-speed, it is too slow (~27 fps). Maybe if i reduce the size of the outsides enviroments the game will be a lit-bit faster and probably if i not use normal maps on large enviroments, that will improve speed to.
Anyways, am looking for differents solutions to my problem, am working on it at this moment...

Hey TATO, glad to hear you are using my textures, but from the video I can't seem to recognize which ones are being used. Maybe it's because you put bump maps on them or perhaps you modified them? Anyhow, good luck with this project. It looks awesome graphically! We need some gameplay!

Hi guys,
yes i have done a lots of progress but not with DBP. Its too buggish and dosent feet my projet. I am switching righ now my projet to a new engine, dxstudio. Its not easy as DBP but its better and more powerfull. And perfect for prototyping and also to make bigger projets than DBP.
this is the last build of Forgotten Memories demo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KP80EVucztY
Note: the video was recordes at 30 fps, but in real time with a normal system i got more thant 100 fps, with no lod and the full level casting shadows! With optimisations i can have more than 150 fps.

Hey, I watched a video and I have a good suggestion for you.
The atmoshpere is juicy but it remind mi of certain part of game fahrenheit, known also as the indigo prophecy. it was one of most climatic scenes in games i've ever seen.

the factor that gave it the a big boost of atmhosphere was.. breathing! it was sweet to hear carla breath loudly, listen as her breath is getting faster when she becomes scared..

totally awesome thing, include it

great work so far
