Keep scrolling to the bottom, don't give up looking at this because of the beginning work

Hey guys, this is our new WIP. After Blackcloud and the first PR1MORDIAL (which totally sucked), this will be the first official game featuring all of my future custom media/model packs. The story is a bit if-y as of the moment, but I'm sure it'll get better

Logbook 80127.335 - The Jeiharran Galactic War
-Year: Unknown. Cause: File corrupted by unknown substance; highly volatile.
-Estimated time: Concealed. Cause: Security Purposes.
-Structure status: Critical. Radiation level code black - overdose of rads and electrons. Source of contanment: Unknown.
-Active personnel count: Zero. Life support disabled. Scanning system offline.
-User command enabled - waiting for request...
_activate_shield-system unit 4-001_
-Searching...
-All units offline. Cause...: Warning. System shutdown. User access denied. Formatting all memory...

CUSTOM GUNS INCLUDED:
-RPK
-FN-FAL
-And... the SCAR!!! I finished it most recently. Keep scrolling to see the custom weapons...Most of 'em are on the second page (if you have 50 posts per page set)
-M4 Carbine
-VP70mm just completed
-Makarov just completed
-MK 23, cancelled, no need for it

Levels finished:
-1 :: 100% done
-2 :: 100% done
-3 :: eh, 8% done?

EDIT: Scroll way down. To where I said that I achieved the look I wanted. You'll see how it's improved from the first screens.

I just wanted to try a new approach to the story line. You're in a bunker/lab in some other planet... and you find huge testing arenas, etc. I have to go soon, so I'm typing quick

NEWEST SCREENS/MOST RECENT:

Wall with bond's new spec shader:

And my personal favorite...

I'll add more later cause I seriously have to go. C&C welcome, thanks.

Cheers

EDIT: Made a logo (attached)
EDIT: testing... Works.

Thanks Here's some models I made for the game in a non-FPSC perspective to show more detail (I already have them FPSC ready, just showing more):

1st platform - based off of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption which is where I get most of my inspiration as it has great sci-fi environments

Thanks Here's some new screens until I work on some more media:

Oh, I'm using Horror Mod now Even though this isn't a zombie game at all. It has really good features, and I totally recommend it

I'm trying to get a dark, creepy environment that is also weird and mysterious in a scifi way.

Yet for some reason, whenever I turn on Full Lightmapping, the 'Waiting for Threads to Finish' never loads, but only loads when I'm using efxMod. Anyone got any help?

Cheers, please post suggestions

Double-post of nonsense, but I'll probably add pics later.

Anyways, I was going to say that it seems that the forums are extremely dark and inactive at this time. Probably because mostly everyone lives in Europe on the forums here, but still. It's soo boring...

I have this issue at times as well - it usually turns out to be one of two things

- There is a single entity in your map that the engine is having trouble rendering a full light map on (could be its poly count or just the way the light is hitting it)

- A lights range may be set to big (if you have any lights in your level set to 500 this will happen everytime you try to test any level with full lightmapping)

Also check how much your lights overlap especially around entities that create a lot of shadows (Grates, Vents, etc).. I have fixed levels by simply messing around with the placement of lights.
Good luck, your screens are looking very nice.

Oh, thanks for reminding me, I was trying to put one of bond's shaders on an entity and that's when it started! Thanks for the comment, too macpo Ill fix it when I'm back on the computer tomorrow.

Kalinka, i dont think you understand how high up BOTB is. Thank you though im glad someone found this interesting.

Well, after one of my threads in the 3D chat was flamed over me getting my account jacked, im quite depressed by what people said to me in that thread, so now everyone on the 3D chat boards thinks I'm a crook. Then, the thread was only locked and not deleted so now everyone gets to hold a grudge against me. My whole damned reputation is now permanently scarred due to tha contributors of that thread.
I'm extremely saddened, therefore will discontinue the process of game development until later on when or even if i cool down.

No one even understood me and made faulty inferences out of something I literally didnt say.

Sorry, I seem to be posting a tad much, but here's the character I chose to use for the first scare:

Then here's a screen of some good lighting techniques I found:

And just other screens for now

Post comments, please. This is going to be free, by the way

Edit: Forgot to add that I'm working on the first level still cause I'm stuck on some custom media and need custom guns I'll post the demo hopefully next weekend...

Triple post, because I just have to ask why no one pays attention to my threads...? It's really annoying. I thought this game would be a huge hit... guess not

Oh, well, more screens showing custom textures:

C'mon... I've said this like 10 times now (but who's counting?)... please post suggestions, etc.

Also, custom media is always nice, even though I make most of it myself Like guns. I have a gun I want to rig (not made by me, yet edited heavily and textured and I added on a laser pointer and extra sights) to EAI's G36C animations. I only got the hands working and the gun had problems in the stock portion (using FragMotion Trial - might get it for X-Mas) Any help for that?

Cheers

It might just be me, but I don't see a single light source in any of those screens. The custom stuff looks nice, but some of CP's stuff isn't lightmapping correctly, leaving them as a stark difference from the rest of the scene. Those textures also look to be at a low resolution. Try bumping up the resolution to get a better looking result.

I agree with Gunn3r, there is way too much contrast between objects. However, the environment you are trying to achieve is an absolutely gorgeous one. Just add effects and better textures, retextures, and you'lll be good to go.

Wow three posts.

I do have light sources. They're not textured though, just modeled. That's why I never look at them and try to get an angle so you can't see them, sorry I'm going to texture them later, then show them.

I also was using a flashlight half the time

darimc, I know. I was bored and wanted to mess with Horror Mod

Ok, now I'm getting pissed. Look at the attached image...

Each time I build my game, this happens. It crashes upon loading Bulletholes which is really annoying cause it gets stuck there and then crashes. I haven't modded the bulletholes or anything, why is this happening?? It's really annoying and keeping me from releasing the demo...

EDIT: I figured out that it happens when you have huge levels, so I cut off about maybe 30 segments and am now rebuilding... Let's see how it comes out

Good gravy man I totally can't believe I've been missing your game, it's looking absolutely fantastic! Sorry about that haha, your game so far really is looking superb though

The lighting is well done, although the light sources don't really look lit up at all, it's still nice to actually see light sources. And your custom media is awesome, if you ever planned on getting it on the GC Store I'd buy it in a minute. Those segments are top quality.

Over all, some screens look a tad bare, but nothing that affects the look of the environment negatively. Keep it up man, I'd love to actually really see more of the level(s) if there is more. It kind of seems like when you post screenshots, you post half a dozen just on one hallway or room. A demo would ultimately be best.

I'll keep an eye on this though, it's looking really good.

Haha, thanks Braden. Yep, most people don't notice my work, so don't worry 'bout it

About the lighting, yeah, that's because I don't have full lightmapping turned on as for some reason it never loads

Also, yes I noticed on how bland it was. I just could not find a filler and didn't feel like making one.

And don't worry about there not being enough levels. The recent screens are from the 2nd level. I need to find a good pistol to rig for the 1st level, though. I want the guns to be unique...

Finally as for the custom media you said I should sell, which ones were you talkimg about mate?

Cheers thanks for the first TRUE constructive (and nice ) comment,

PwP

Oh ok I see, wonder why it won't let you load
And, well actually shouldn't turning on shaders and applying the illuminationent effect to the lights work for making them seem lit up anyways? Just a thought.

Sounds good though, looking forward to seeing more progress for sure. Also, although that rifle you've shown there does look a little too bright compared to the really grunge and dark, dilapidated atmosphere of your game, it still looks very well done. Interested in seeing what kind of a pistol you can make!

As for the media, I was really interested in the segments actually. Not sure if those were yours or not? But the grungy, steel bars and door look awesome as well.

Most of the textures I find on CG Textures, then I edit them and put them into FPSC. The prison bars are on the store by Ashgrinder. He makes good segs

how do you think I should improve the gun texture; I find your criticism very helpful mate

As for a pistol, I'm not sure what I should make. I just want it to be different y'know?

sorry for errors in the post im posting from my iphone which is really a pain...

Oh ok, that's really cool, they suit your game well. I haven't been on CG Textures in ages! Maybe, if you'd like, you might want to think about releasing a neat pack of custom segments? I know I for one would appreciate it, and the community can never have enough segments, that's for sure.

Now, for that rifle. 'Tis a tricky thing, trying to deduce what might make it look better than it already is, but I guess what I was thinking was just, darker textures. More of a grungy, steel toned look that shows perhaps it's seen it's days of battle. I'm sure you could find some wicked darker, metal, scratched up textures on CG there, just some suggestions though! Sorry if that was confusng, kind of hard to exactly get across what I'm thinking.

And I know what you mean about the pistol, there's so many variants of pistols it's definitely difficult to choose. In a bit I could throw up some shots of handgun possiblities, just to get your imagination stirring perhaps.

Cheers

Thanks MD

@Braden, Am I allowed to release segments that use CG Textures? Also, on the gun, I was thinking exactly the same, maybe making it blacker/ more greyscale and adding scratches. Posting pistol refs would be great man, if they're from a side view, it'd be even better

I have a few other rifles I want to rig but theyre mostly Sniper rifles which I essentially have no use for in this game. Yet if i recall correctly, i think i have an RPK that is wau different from the mp9/10 one. I'll rig that next when im on the comp again, but for now g'night.

And ugh, starting to really detest iphone keyvoards. See wagt i mean? Argh!!!!
