Go on and sign up!

Hey guys!

Carrying on the now-annual InGaCreMo (International Game Creation Month), I thought I would start the sign-up thread a little earlier this year in an attempt to get more people doing this!

InGaCreMo's goal is to motivate us programmers to complete something by the end of the first month of the new year; there are no prizes to be awarded, other than the feeling of
great accomplishment at finishing a program (or a good working chunk of it!) by the deadline, and the possibility of your game being mentioned in the newsletter (provided it's made with a TGC product )!

In the past, InGaCreMo has been very successful and yielded tons of fun games and awesome programs, all from our glorious TGC community!

Signing up is easy! All you have to do is state the following in your post...

And that's that! Any type of game can be created for any platform, such as iOS or Android, using any game development software (Unity, Unreal, DBP, AppGameKit, Ogre, Panda, anything!)!
The only catch with this is that if you create your game using a non-TGC product, you will not be able to post it on the TGC WIP boards, but you can post in this thread to keep everyone updated or start a blog!

Some "rules" (kinda):

InGaCreMo banner [UPDATED]

Virtual Nomad has created this year's wonderful banner/signature image!

And here's the text to make it work as your signature!

And that's about it! Go on and make your pledge!

I, MrValentine, pledge to create a working Undefined as of yet, program by January 31st, 2013

I thoroughly enjoyed this last year, and aim to start on it precisely as soon as that other ADG compo is complete, as I am also participating in that, already making a platformer for that, so maybe I will try something different for InGaCreMo 2013!

I will create my own personal Participant Banner soon...

I suppose the banner for this year is chosen already

It may be worth mentioning that they do not need to wait until January 31st, they can as last year start a little early, like asset creation and planning and structure... and then begin coding in January as most of us did last year...

Unless that has changed too ^^

I, the President, do officially decree that my administration will complete a working demo of an RPGame by the end of January 2012, should the world have not ended by then.

The conflict here is there is also the 'new beginnings' comp. What I'll do to settle this is use 'New Beginnings' to get the basis of the engine done and use a 'New Beginnings' theme for that demo - it might not even be used in the final game. Then I can go out of my way for NaGaCreMo to get something complete.

Would a working 2D Action-RPG game engine with editor and hopefully a lot of features be considered an entry?

My long term goal is to make a game with it, but it's probably going to take longer than a couple of months as I am only just working on a working engine for it now.

So if I submitted say a demo featuring all features or something, made with said engine, would that be applicable?

Cheers.

I enjoy food quite a lot.

Also, I thought we'd decided to keep it as NaGaCreMo, not InGaCreMo? Seeing as it's based on NaNoWriMo (which is also international, not limited to anywhere). InGaCreMo sounds kinda silly ;P

Either way: I, Blobby 101, pledge to create a working demo by the 31st of January, 2013.

Cheers!

Demo, right, should have clicked on that.

I, Rampage, pledge to create an awesome working demo by the 31st of January, 2013, for PC and iPad.

(Not using TGC products)

Edit: Sig test.

Damn straight! http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=192955&b=8

But I guess I should do something for 2013 as well, this time without the use of time travel. Still, it was an interesting experience...the past.

Great pledges so far, everyone! The first post has been updated accordingly.

@Blobby:

Last I knew, people preferred "InGaCreMo", and I personally like it better because it differentiates itself more from NaNoWriMo... perhaps we should officially decide this year but I think it's already too late to redesign all the banners/signatures people will probably be submitting.

EDIT: @Virtual Nomad, do you think it's possible you could quickly create a banner image for this thread with the same design, just without the "click to join" text? Thanks!

Like this? It would probably be better if Virtual Nomad remade the text again though, the scaling here is a bit off.

An RPG-like game usually with randomly generated 'dungeons' and turn-based movement. Many people see it as synonymous with ASCII graphics etc. - but it's a pretty loose term - check out some of the later titles!

Yeah, saw it in my download list for AGK... Not up to date... But a start... I suspect if more users were using it, it would be more of a vIabIlIty that it will be kept up to scratch... But for me... It should do the basics, I plan to do a 2D project with it...

I believe it is actually community driven for the .NET version, but I could be wrong... Might chase it up once I get MARBLE WORLD out of the way... Going Waterstones after my shop tonight and lookIng at ant C# books they may have... (I like tangible book buying)

C# for Dummies...I've got a copy, it's not a bad book, a good place to start.

Or if you like video tutorials, I would recommend 3D Buzz's Hyperion tutorial, whilst it's classed under 'XNA' tutorials, it is all C#. They're an excellent set of C# tutorials, they are from a game development perspective and do a fantastic job of explaining things. The project result is a complete text adventure inside of a Windows console. The way they explain things is really clear for a newbie too, so hopefully they'll help you.

Link.

If there's a .NET version in the AppGameKit downloads, then I will support it. Though I would like to have some 3D commands in there, if I could have a fully 3D version of AppGameKit in .NET, I'd drop DGK.NET.

I guess I could pick some project ideas to do in AGK.NET, might have to make it my NaGaCreMo 2013 challenge.

I, Maindric, pledge to create a game demo by January 31st, 2013

The project is called "The Hamster Project."

No, not a joke, just being creative.

By the end of January, we will have AT LEAST a working level.

There are three of us working on this project.

"TwistedXP" is the artist.

"Kuresuna" is the sound engineer, and a programmer.

I am a general designer, programmer, and project lead.

Details on the page are slim, for now, but it is going to be a side scroller, hack-n-slash. The graphic style will be Sci-Fi/Steam punk.

The graphics displayed on the site are place holders, till we get more detailed into the project. All work original.

"The Hamster Project" is just a fun name we chose. The overall project is to improve our game creation abilities by actually making full games available to play. We hope this project will hone our skills and keep us motivated.

reviewing past practice on these, "participant" banners have been utilized. i think click to join is good to get things going on this thead but, after that, participants might want to direct others to their personal project once a proper WIP is posted (attached):

Update on my ingacremo...

enabled my automatic loading system for levels and objects/ selecting levels and objects in level editor.

object adjust bars:
scale
positioning
rotation

Progress is going good!

Edit: can now delete objects "with all the object data transferring in the array so the array doesn't grow unnecessarily big"

Never too late to join! The event doesn't "officially" start for another 11 days, anyway.

I'm pledging to get back into DBP coding; I want to try my hand at a couple of projects with it that I think it will suit just fine! One is a level editor (again, I always do level editors it seems ), and the other is the game to go along with said editor. Once I learn how to make levels generate off of files, that is.
