The demo game "Beyond Life" is finally ready for your gaming pleasure.

Download the game here: Beyond Life

Big thanks goes to the Alyssar Digital Arts Platform ( http://art.alyssar.nl/ ) for hosting the website and game files.

The game takes a while to load, but you can leave your computer during the loading screen, no story event occurs when you eventually spawn. I hope you enjoy it and comments are more than welcome

NOTE: There is no installation required, simply drag the game folder to a preferred location on your hard drive.

Oh my God! That was the best, and I mean the best, FPSC game I have ever played. You seriously deserved to come in first, Wehtam. The game was so fantastic that when I finished I wanted more. Please, please, make a full game out of this! I will definitely buy it. The menu and music was absolutely fantastic, and every in-game texture was totally high quality and done really well. The puzzles were fantastic, the guns were well balanced, the audio and story was good, and the attention to detail was fantastic. I would give this a 10/10, hands down.

I'm currently working on an IGN or Gamespy - like website for Indie games, and I would gladly write a full review of this game.

It was good, but FPSC let it down. The level design and effects that went into it were great, but then fpsc started being dumb, for example, the character joe just stood there, not even moving, but he was shooting me

Very nice! A tad short, but it ran pretty well. I only had one character sorta freeze up, though the others seemed a bit too easy. Ran very well for an FPSC game and the level was awesome. I hope you're going through with the supposed funding and whatnot to make it commercial that you get by winning

Very cool! and profeesional. Only 17 health left, but made it. "Status OK"

If load times were very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very much improved, this would be an awesome game.

Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

I'm thinking that the load times were the fault of FPSC v1.0. My loads improved significantly when I upgraded.

Ya, I think my maps load faster in 1.05 as Inspire said, so it would be interesting to see if this loads faster on that. The light mapping and some other things would have to be completely re-done, but if you go commercial you'll have to redo it anyways.

Liked the demo. You ought to remake the game with one of the later updates like 1.05 RC2 or maybe 1.06 when it is released. It will cut the loading time considerably.
Great stuff. With the exception of the long loading time I had a lot of fun with this.Outstanding work Wetham.

I must dload this. As much frustration it will cause having to restart this crappy comp over and over again because of the graphics card overheating, I still want to test it.

What about the full version? Did you get the publishing deal?

Fine bit of work if I must say well done, fpsc v1 problems do come out when you play the game and v1.5 would def make this an even better game.

Story line was good and played pretty well but lower spec machine would have problems but these are the normal fpsc issue's, I think like the rest if this had faster load times and the ai was better this would game would def go far.

Hope you get the chance to push the game further as its very well made, one of the best games made in fpsc.

After dusting off the fan on the graphics card, things worked without crashing again. I'm so happy.
I played through the whole demo, although on nearly the lowest settings possible, the 30 minute wait it took approx. was well worth it. Great work.

Played it last night, here are my thoughts:

-Loading time was horrible.
-Gameplay and graphics rocked, the level was superb.
-Sometimes I got confused as to where to go, but the simple, "If there's enemies there that you heven't killed yet, you're not lost." rule got me through.

Excellent, Wehtam! The best FPSC project I've ever played.

This is da bomb! But a couple of things i must ask. I am only recently starting to use FPSC to its potential and I really want to know how to mod the health/gun display and how can i mod the skins on guns and add in new things like the hologram in the screenie.

I'll be downloading soon, but from the response I have seen, it definately needs to become a full game. You should definately think about using FPS CreatorX10 for the full game, as I hear the AI is much more improved.

Also, it looks very good in the screens. Can't wait to play it.

bap.

Load time wasn't too bad for me... around 9 mins. Ok so that's awful, but I was expecting like 3 hours.

Got down to playing it, and I have to say, its fantastic. You totally deserved to win.

Hi Folks, yup the loading time is sucky. The game was compiled with the retail version of FPSC ( straight out of the box, no updates ). I was reluctant to update FPSC during the contest as I didn't want any unexpected oddities to occur. ( Like what happened to Bird of Prey, lol )

from what I have heard, later versions of FPSC dramatically reduce the loading times.

Glad your all liking the game anyways, I have a complete story for the entire game, I'm just waiting on a certain prize to arrive before i consider pursuing the project.

Keith: RickV has kept me well informed, I believe I am now waiting for a message from an NVIDIA staff member, fingers crossed. Thanks for asking

Well I finally got to a high-speed connection and downloaded this. It took me just under 30 minutes to load it; but it was well worth it. Great game! I especially liked the space cut-scene at the end. It's too bad you got the shaft on your prize, after all the work you put into it.

I'm terribly sorry..

but this game is astounding!

a truly Elite title. I felt like it was made with something other than FPSC. Congratulations!

Inspire: Bird of Prey, well... 7 of the 8 levels were created, I was moving onto scripted events, enemy placement and such. I decided to upgrade from V1.0 to a newer version... V1.04 i think, the upgrade really had odd effects with the game, I had scripts which weren't working and entities being replaced by other entities ( the constant offender being the doors being replaced by... CUPS! ). It was a headache which proved too much, there was the NVIDIA contest about to begin so i decided to put BoP on hold, looking back at the levels now, I'm not getting any motivation to rekindle the BoP flame. So I'm starting another smaller project.

KeithC: I'm glad you were able to play it and that it was worth the wait The video sequence was done using Cinema 4D and Edit Studio.

Zavix and TGPEG: Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it

I have one question. Can I use you monitor model in a game? I loved that model. And the fire decal was different wasn't it? I don't think that was in the stock decals or the model pack.

EDIT: Sorry. Somehthing weird happened and it showed a comment before mine. Thats odd. Sorry, I would have hit the edit button if that never happened.
