All

I rigged a classic doom imp from the open source jdoom engine model resource pack (not the ID software version) to the FPSC bi-ped skeleton. Then implemented a fireball attack and made him X9 and X10 compatible.

The jdoom model resource pack can be found here
http://archive.doomsdayhq.com/files.php?pro=2&class=4&type=6

I was especially pleased to implement the fireball attack as this opens up some nice possibilities for magic based weapons and accidentally figured out how to do a flamethrower type effect during testing.

I've also made a melee attack version of the imp which works nicely but am hoping to make a custom ai script that will enable fireballs at long range and the melee attack at close range.

Attached is a pic of the FPSC X9 version.

Here is a pic of the FPSC X10 version complete with normal and specular maps.

The original diffuse texture is only 256x256 resolution so could look a lot better but still quite cool.

Here is a small video demonstrating the fireball attack and gameplay in both versions of FPSC. Ragdoll deaths included in the X10 part.

I believe it's a do-it-yourself type thing which is why he posted the link.

Really like them keeping their distance to throw. Do they every miss?

Thanks everyone for the feedback and positive comments.

@xplosys / @bond1

I agree the FPSC X10 version turned out quite nicely. Goes to show what a little X10 magic can do.

I realised a custom flak was the way to go for projectiles and exploding on impact completed the classic doom fireball effect nicely.

FredP is right. I provided the link so people can download the model but am still working on the ai before mine is finished.

There's some good tutorials on the forums if you search for them. The main thing for characters is to ensure your modelling software supports animations.

You can avoid the fireball projectiles but due to their explosive nature you can still be injured if they impact nearby. I'll tweak the speed and accuracy of them to make it more balanced though.

Then take an aspirin.I'm not sure about the legality of releasing the imp.Besides,I am sure Nomad would be happy to help you in your attempt to do this.He seems like a nice guy (and a good modeler).
You need to learn how to do stuff like this yourself if you want to make games.
Sooner or later you'll need something and nobody will have it or make it for you.
Thumbs up for at least trying. That's more than a lot of people do.

The model is completely FPSC ready and works with stock scrips in both X9 and X10 as shown in the video.

I've just been working on a custom script to allow fireball attacks at long range and a melee attack at close range for completeness.

I'll drop an email to the jdoom developer and ask if I can release my FPSC versions with a non commercial license crediting the appropriate people. If I can I will but if not will provide some information about it.
