Butter Fingers, the DL probably failed. Try it again. The server may be busy and TCG website returns an error when I try to upload the game. In the meantime, here's some screenies.

Also, could people tell me the FPS on their computers? It's listed right below the game messages, upper left corner.

From the look of that screen shot I would say this has been made in FPSC, and if I'm not very much mistaken I think that FPSC has there own program announcement board. Also you need to edit your first post and add details about this game, what's it about? Where's it set? What fantastic gameplay features does it offer? What was your main inspiration to make such a game? etc...

not many people will download and play a game without first knowing some details. I know I wouldn't!

Hope I helped in some small way
DV

It is Dark Basic Pro, and if you've ever played Deus Ex, you'll know what it's like. There's 14 skills to upgrade with skill points, earned by killing people or doing jobs, about 70 Abilities to unlock, and 4 competing factions to work for. You can get 4 characters in your party and switch between them (tho this is buggy at the moment).
Your crosshair shrinks as you stand still, representing your accuracy. It shrinks quicker if you have a higher weapon skill. There's 4 factions to work for. You can build or modify items and guns, hack computer terminals to take over androids or unlock doors, and you can learn powerful voodoo spells to control the weather, cause corpses to explode, summon demons, etc. Go for stealth, charm, science, or just plain violence.
Right now Chapter 1 is pretty much complete. There will be 6 total. I'll upload the manual to my website tonight sometime.
There will also be a world editor in the final version, allowing you to change pretty much anything and make your own game.

downloading now, had a once-over of your RTF manual, it's impressive.

For anyone who can't find his game through the web link, just delete everything but angryroach45.com or type it in, lol. I'd post a link but that would nullify this instructional paragraph.

Edit: I should sleep, but I played the first level for about 20 min. or so and would like to ask everyone to retract their commentary (above) and play it before saying anything. Myself included, even though I said good things.

You have a working console system, NPC system, inventory system, combat ailments, various abilities, combat system, level, story, immersion, it's amazing.

The audio can be heard anywhere, and I get 8 FPS when moving (P4 system with first gen PCI express card, it's outdated, but plays newer games pretty good), but that doesn't deter me at all from the sheer amount of work and bug-free smooth feel your game has. You're an excellent coder and have a good team! Makes me wanna upgrade my comp to play this!

Did I mention your GUI system, or various forms of that, are amazing? Many of us here have coded one simple thing or another, but you coded it all and made a story. That's really really cool, I vote you get mentioned somewhere near the top of the newsletter, like below the title or close to it.

Everyone, click the link and DL

Downloaded again.

It's really not my kind of thing. But... it is VERY impressive. I mean VERY.

There is a massive range of abilities and powers, a story, events , as was said in the above post, there's alot going on.

I don't know if you want criticism, but...

The main menu music was horrible, the piano is not tuned quite right, there are different instruments cancelling each other, it's mushy. Please change it. You have to spend quite a bit of time setting things up and this tune really put me off.

The loading screen..
It took around 50 seconds to load (dual core laptop, XP, 1G ram , Nvidia 9600). The load screen was static, when maybe you could have been flashing up some text hints? I kind lost interest , and that tune was droning on and on...

Game.
Very nice, I mean, the amount you have going on is pretty excellent. I didn't like that I couldn't just quit a conversation, there was no : "goodbye" option, so sometimes I was just stuck talking to people until I could work out which option ended the conversation.

THe Hud is Massive, and the camera FOV is quite limited. I didn't really need all of the information on the hud all the time. Perhaps it could fade in and out, or be semi transparent, or maybe use Icons more and make the whole hud smaller. It's not like it doesn't work, it's just obscuring almost a 3rd of the screen. I think people would be better immersed if they could see more of the lovely world you have created.

Setup.
You have developed a vast array of abilities, but on first look, these are pretty confusing. Have you considered doing quickstart options. Like, I had no idea what abilities to pick to make a well rounded fighter. I remember playing pen&paper RPGs where you could make a totally original character, OR you could use a template like "soldier", or "voodoo guy" or "geek".

Anyway, top top work, one of the deepest projects I think I've ever seen on DB. Good luck with this

I want robotic legs.

Thanks for the complements and criticism. I had the same thought about the HUD. I'll probably just increase the resolution to make the images smaller. I'll also work on the prefab character classes (thanks for the tip!).
The FPS is the main problem, tho. My goal is a steady 20 and I want the game to work on old computers. Limiting the camera FOV increases the FPS significantly, but I'll find other ways.
Butterfingers, what was your FPS?

I'm actually a huge fan of Deus Ex, so if this comes close then I'll probably enjoy it, but I'm guessing your plot is different?
I'm download now, but on my internet speed 90Mb is going to take a while!

Also my above comments weren't meant to be negative I was merely helping him so a MOD wouldn't lock this thread! Although I do suggest you update your first post with the details of the game?

Lol DV, to be honest, I'd probably be harsher than you were. I said everything to make it clear he wasn't just a newbie saying "I wrotez teh codE!"

My FPS never dropped, I had no noticable slowdown. I'm on a dual core laptop, 2 point something GHz, with 2 GB ram and an Nvidia 8400 runnin a res of 1440x900, its on XP too.

I ran it on a quad core ( 4GB ram and an Nvidia FX420 ) at the office too, with windows 7, and it crashed to a black screen on startup.

On my PC at home it was fine too:
Dual Core, 2GB ram , Nvidia 8800GTX.

I seem to have a problem, the game loads fine and all the menu's are great, but once I get into the game about 10 seconds in the whole thing crashes. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with me being on Windows 7? It came installed with DirectX 11 and I installed the August 2008 DirectX 9.0c so it would work, but it just crashes!

That was my problem with Vista, too, until I figured out I needed to set it to Windows 98 mode. No other mode works. Unfortunately, nobody I know has Windows 7 yet.

I'll try that and let you know how it goes!

EDIT: Ok that seemed to solve the problem. Just to summarize then for Vista and Windows 7 users you need to run this in Windows 98 mode to get it working without crashes. I didn't try Windows XP mode but there is a possibility that it would work.
