Ok, guys and girls. What game has teh greatest music ever in games! Now I can see what kinda game music you prefer. You want to know my favourite? Well here it is:

Shadow Of The Colossus.
That game has teh greatest soundtrack! I just friggin love it! Hearing the epic music at teh same time when climbing on a colossus's back or wing or whatever. ยด

Examples:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qR_s3BGLu0s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A10qew_PQlk&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vIxrBHLS88&feature=related

I'll let you listen teh rest. I wanted to put the whole soundtrack in here, but I put 3 ones from the better end. They are all good, but these just stay in you rind. Especially the first one!

Now tell me your opinions, I want to hear them!

Wipeout has the best music, But i have Silent Hill for the PSP, and that has the best "Spooky Sound Effects", Theres also usually good music and sound effects in Resident Evil games.

Best original score: MechWarrior 2: The Clans

It can be found here:

http://www.gamemusicjukebox.com/?id=5

The soundtracks for Age of Empires & AOE: Rise of Rome were also pretty good

I still listen to the soundtracks from these games (MW & AOE) when working on my game project.

Best soundtrack that wasn't original: GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, and/or GTA Vice City Stories. GTA IV was also really good, especially the Massive B Soundsystem and Vladivostok FM stations.

All of these.

Plus:
Advent Rising by Tommy Tallarico
This is a Video Games Live recording that just transitions between all the major pieces of music, it's beautiful.

Grim Fandango by Peter McConnell - Best use of jazz in a game IMO.

Bioshock by Garry Schyman - We all know about all the jazz & pop standards coming out of the record players in the game, but the original score is fantastic. And to top it all off they released it for free (link goes to zip of mp3s).

Anything by Nobuo Uematsu is pretty cool, especially Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII and Lost Odyssey.

As a metal-head, I have to say Brutal Legend.

David R: Yah another TA lover!

Anyone else miss the good ol' days when you could pop in your favorite pc game into your cd player and listen to the sound track...skip the first track of course

This may sound weird, but Redneck Rampage had a really catchy soundtrack as well.

7th Guest had the greatest soundtrack at the time, and still to this day. It was the first videogame to pass 1GB in size, and the music was CD-quality, which was unheard of at the time (1992):

The main game theme, with vocals directly linked to the game's rich background and story. So good!:

This short one is my favourite game tune ever, and is on my iPod:

Diablo 2 obviously spent a fair amount of time creating music, but my fave would go to Deus Ex.

The original Metal Gear Solid - more recently, I find Assassins Creed II to have a particularly impressive soundtrack - it's extremely subtle - hardly music, but oh-so beautiful.

some of Final Fantasy XI's music was great, such as:
The Grand Dutchy of Jeuno
Ronfaure
Ru'Lude Gardens

Most, if not all of Oblivion's music

and, for great midi music: Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards: Pop Star

I don't know if that counts as video game music, seems like cheating to me! Then again, Quake used NIN.

Total Annihilation music did rock. There were also many days that I would put the the first Quake into my CD player.

But anyway:

Shadow of the Colossus
Most of the Final Fantasy games, but preferably 6&7

Total Annihilation rocks. Too bad the Supreme Commander release for the 360 sucks.

Fallout rules mate.

Though Oblivion does have a good soundtrack.

There's a song from the Persona series that I like. Devil May Cry series has a good sounds track and I quite liked the Prince of Persia Warrior Within one too.
