How do I get a black sky?
Do I just need to make a bunch of black images?
I had heard once that you could put usesky=0 in setup.ini but that doesnt work

I think you need to make a black image, yes. I don't know, but I suppose that's what you needed to do.

If I remember correctly, a "black skybox will be invisible and you will be able to see the skybox outline/poly lines in the distance. I tried it a while back and found that I had to make the images a little less that pure black to make it work.

I also found that a skybox of one consistent color wreaks havoc on the scenery, and kept making trails of the existing segments. A trippy sight, but not cool for gaming. I fixed this by adding just a little light to the center of the the bottom of the box.

If you look at the sky I made for Hypnogagia, you'll see what I mean. It was made as I said above.

There was a download available through a post a long time ago, for a black skybox. I can't find it any more, however I still have the files for the skybox in my FPSC skybank folder - problem is I'm not sure if I'm allowed to upload it here? I'd love to, but am I allowed to without the consent of the original creator? I have no idea who it was

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

If you make your dds alpha channel full white or even better save as tga 24bit you should have no transparency.
Have used black skybox myself with no problems as did butters in Umbra.

well im feeling generous

JZ's pitch black sky box, i use it to show off the models on my site.
licence is the same as the one on my site except you don't need to ask to use this sky box. to install place blk folder into sky bank.
