Are there any risks in dowloading and installing mods? Can you have more than one mod at a time? Is there any good mods for modern day military game? Can you uninstall mods easy? Thanks.

1. Yes, only if you delete the old FPSC-Game.
2. No, you can only have one mod installed at a time, but sometimes they integrate into eachother.
3. I suppose you could use project blue with Marc steene's CoD Gameplay pack which includes door breaching, damage HUDs, player legs, and soon to be nuclear explosion simulations. There is more, but I cant remember em all right now.
4. Yes, as long as you keep the "FPSC-Game" File, and rename it to, say, "FPSC-Game-Original"

EDIT: Oh, yeah, the gameplay pack comes with thermal and night vision as well.

Yes, this is in case you ever want to revert back without having to reinstall.

Quote: "And how do I install mods?"

Just download the file and put them into your FPSC directory

That should be it, yes. Unless you changed where it installed (if you just chose default, then you should be fine).

You drop it into you FPS Creator folder it will tell you their is already something in there with the same name so either override the one thats already in their or rename it to FPSC-Game-orig (the mod MUST have the name FPSC-Game)

The mod will be called FPSC-Game.exe

Open you FPSC Directory on the hard drive and find the file FPSC-Game.exe and rename it to something like FPSC-GameORIGINAL.exe

Now take the mod .exe and put it in the FPSC directory.

Different mods might require additional files, so make sure they are all in the right folders and voila the mod will be installed

Make sure you are using the correct version of FPSC with the correct version of the mod. So if a mod is using the 1.15 make source code sure that is the version of FPSC you are using with the mod

The directory is wherever you installed it to. If you used the default settings then yes it would be your example. If you chose your own installation path then it's whatever that is.

What is this talk about backing up the whole fpsc directory ?

You just backup the fpsc-game.exe and extract the new one to the fpsc directory

if you delete your old FPSC-Game.exe, then yes, because you're stuck with that mod.

Quote: "Can you have more than one mod at a time?"

no. but, most mods have at least one other mod integrated. (most mods have ironsights, few dont)

Quote: "Is there any good mods for modern day military game?"

Well yes. there is project blue mod with the modern warfare gameplay pack. that would make a good modern warfare game. costs 26 dollars USD

there is also Fenix Mod, with an easy Allies and Enemies modded AI system. allowing for much more realistic military battles with NPCs who are very intelligent. this mod is free.

Quote: "Can you uninstall mods easy?"

yes. simply replace the modded FPSC-Game.exe with the un modded FPSC-Game.exe

to fenix mod!

when an mod is intergrated into another it means that th coder has put another mod in his mod

You cant inergrate a mod without dark basic pro, the fpsc source, your own mod and some body elses mod source

Hockeykid you're my hero *bows*
After the beta version of Fenix froze and crashed on me i found the 1.0, wich works. However I too have some questions.

- Some mods have other mods intergrated into it. However, if "Mod A" is intergrated with "Mod B" & "Mod C", does that mean if "Mod C" turns out to come with custom script, models, sounds etc, that I need to dowload them seperatly? From the "Mod C" thread/site? Or sometimes? Or never? I talk in general so others may found this usefull, but like I said, i use Fenix Mod.

- If Fenix, for example, has 4 other mods intergrated, do I still only need one Game.exe(the Fenix one)? Or do I need to switch between them? Or Can I just use (most) of the other mod's commands/features?

- Fenix mod says it is intergrated with Horror Mod, however it later on, as well as in the Horror Mod thread, stated that it needs to be purchased. I cannot use it (intergrated) without purchasing it? And if I did, do I need to install all but the Game.exe from the Horror Mod, and not the Game.exe?

Hope these questions are clear.
Thnx in advance.

You may only use the features included in a mod. If a mod includes A+B+C and it has been fully integrated then scripts previously published should work.

In the case of Fenix Mod you only need on .exe

Horror mod used to be a commercial mod, but several members of the community helped HockeyKid buy it and it has now been incorporated into Fenix mod V1.1. You don't need to buy Horror Mod as it is included for free in Fenix Mod (or will be when V1.1 is released which should be any time now.)

I hope that helps

Yes that helps, a lot! And who knows, maybe later it helps other beginners as well.
And thank you for the quick, clear and full answer.

Wow! That is really generous. Shows that this is a very good community to be part of .

*edit* guess i will make my promised donation for Fenix Mod right now*
**edit** donated $5,00 , wich is Euro 3.60 for us "rich" Europeans (lol), so i give a little, get a free mod, and also get me some bloody body bags? Awesome. Great deal.

In the Fenix Mod manuall, on the Horror Mod section, it refer's to a "Files\databank" folder? Shoul i have this folder? Or should i post this in a Fenix thread? In wich case this post can be deleted.
(It refers to using custom sprites, the databank folder is also mentioned on other places)
*Hit myself on head... have to wait for 1.1 ... right? stupid. Unless not and i should have it now, can a MOD please delete this post? thnx)*

The manual applies to V1.1. Which should be released any time now. Sorry for any confusion.

Np at all. You're kind enough to keep answering my questions, with patience. It's very kind of you to still answer it instead of "post that in a Fenix related thread", wich would not be unjustified.
I could have known it, but was just asking in case I misinterpreted it, after all English is not my native language, although i understand a fair amount.
Btw I come across you're name all the time here, you're only legendary right? Like Explosys, Hockykid, Plastyr, CoffeGrunt, Apple Slicer and probably many more I forgot. Ah found it you where involved in Fenix too... Forgiveness master! *bows head in shame and crawls away*

You're welcome.

I've been here a couple of years or so but the only real involvement I have with Fenix is with the manual.

Hey Guyz...

Another few silly questions about MODS...

1) - A lot of members mention that you have install the MOD with the correct update - so am I right in thinking that if you have the latest update for FPSC installed (say 1.16) and a MOD requires is made with update (1.09), the MOD will not work?

2) - Marc Steenes CoD Gameplay pack - does it only work with ProjectBlue?

3) - Is FenixMOD v1.1 out?

4) - does anyone have a list of links to all the available MODS for FPSC?

Thanks

True, but I've been using FPSC since April 2007 - so it seemed longer

It will give you errors, yes. I'm not sure what they would be, but it's best to use the correct version of FPSC with the version the MOD requires. It could cause problems with your maps and you wouldn't want to lose all your hard work.

Quote: "2) - Marc Steenes CoD Gameplay pack - does it only work with ProjectBlue?"

I'm not sure. [EDIT] I just read his thread and it would seem like you do need project blue to use it.[/edit]

Quote: "3) - Is FenixMOD v1.1 out?"

I think it is finished, but currently not released. I'm hoping it won't be long though

Quote: "4) - does anyone have a list of links to all the available MODS for FPSC?"

I think there are some threads around which list links to all the mods. I'll have a look and see if I can find one.
