I decided to go ahead and open this post today based on the fact the pack is almost complete. This pack will have everything you will need to make you a game with Native Americans in it.

What the pack will have.

A number of Native Americans including : Pawnee, Apache, Soiux and Cherokee

Each tribe will have as close to authentic clothing, housing and weapons. Also each tribe will have both male and female ranging from children to the elderly.

Weapons will include a tomahawk and bow and arrow with the ability to pickup fpsc regular weapons.

Housing will include a teepee, wigwam and adobe huts.

With all of this you will receive items that each tribe would or might have used doing that time period. On top of all of this you will receive a secret model pack that Cosmic Prophet and I have been working on. And to help out with some of the model General Jackson has come on to help me finsh out the pack.

If you have a request of a certain item for this pack feel free to ask. I will see if I can make it, but only request for this time period and no cowboys yet. That's the next pack.

And Chidem you were the inspiration for this pack since you need some Native Americans if you are going to make those games properly.

The release is planned for next week, but I wanted to get more ideas for the pack to make it larger.

EDIT:

DOWNLOAD

Readme!

If you make one or more the files that I was unable to make fpsc ready. I ask that you post it here for others that cannot make them fpsc ready. Also a script will be needed to make the wolf walk around and do it's thing if someone makes that I would ask that it be placed here as well.

Thanks and Enjoy!

Very nice! I would definitely like to see "Western" as a new genre amongst FPSC users. Great job!

Very nice work Starmind. Great to see another genre entering into FPSC. Looking forward to the finished product.

Not certain if you have this already, but some small misc items for your pack:

- canoe
- dreamcatchers (this may be hard to do, but gives a bit of extra detail)
- perhaps some sort of rocks for making a firepit

Cheers

canoe is in the store, but I may just bypass that and give it for free.

Already done!

I agree! I have several models for that genre, but I felt the two should be seperate as this pack is more frontier than western.

Starmind - This pack looks fantastic! The very existence of this pack makes it much easier for me to consider new games in this genre and I think my next game may very well draw upon all of this media. In fact, I think a game based upon the Oregon Trail would be a perfect match for this...

As for what media I'd like to see...hmmm...(these are just some ideas and I don't expect you to devote any serious time to them - by the looks of things you've already put loads into this pack)

Horses would be a massive help - I've had to work around a more or less complete absense of horses which has proven tricky! In fact, any animal would be a massive help - In particular a buffaloe or a deer would probably go a long way. Or a wolf - but I imagine these might be hard to animate?

A little more specifically I'd like to a see a medicine bag - generally these were small objects not much larger than a tennis ball - made of animal hide possibly with some feathers sticking out etc - I believe (but am not 100% sure) that these were universal features across the continent.

I noticed you mentioned a cowboy pack was in the offing - I think that'd be fantastic! There are quite alot of wild west environments out there but no one to populate them with, or any suitable weapons

Do you know when this pack will be out? I can't wait to get to work on it!

really does not show much for the imagination, I have followed alot of your threads that most have had little sucsess in your media, meaning the media was not yours. I hope this is not the case here, I do see your working with Cosmic Prophet with this so most lickly its all liget. hope to see more, mabey show some of the Native Americans so we can plan for something.

well I would, but like cp said it's a surprise. As for my pack having my own work, it is. My suprise pack the models and animations were done by me and textured by cp. Plus my textures have improved thanks to cp. The pack is as original as I can get.

Next week is the plan for everything.I have been holding on to this one for quite some time and I am ready to burst at the seams. I am really happy with this one and so is cp. I have general jackson doing some work for us as well.

I will give a more detailed list of what is coming based on where I am at tonight.

Here is a look at the texture map of one of the indians. I used makehuman to make the body and then I made the clothing and add the stock fpsc skeleton. I use blender to get this texture map by baking the textures. Still my own, but with using a program to make it for me.

I am finished for the day and I thought I would show some more stuff. I added today some fish, fish traps, dreamcatchers, new creek segments to match cp's forest flat, a totem pole, drums, two different burial sites, another fire pit and some more suprise stuff.
All in all I made a total of 20 different entities both animated and static today and I have plenty more to complete. Right now I have about 50-60 entities for this pack and more to come.

Here is some eye candy:

I love this pic.

Thanks CP, but the surprise is your idea I just helped make it happen.

I wanted to show you all what I have added to the pack this morning.

I have added some indian blue corn, hay piles, a carcass, a peace pipe, a tomahawk and a static bow and arrow.

Last night I wanted to show you all the way the totems changed the scenery and I forgot to do that, but it gave me a chance to put in the corn and hay for a quick shot for all of you. The totem has 3 different textures one natural, painted, and one weathered.
I hope you all enjoy this pack I have so much I am putting into this and the list of stuff keeps getting longer. So I hope you are all ready for it. Enjoy!!

Here are the screenies for today:

Another update on this. Today I added a wheat field and a field segment to the list. Both the corn and wheat are dynamic with coloff and does not seem to slow down the frames. The wheat is at about hip level and the corn is just above a segment tall. Tomorrow I will have the characters in and working and I should be able to release next week and I will continue to make more after the pack's release to incorporate more tribes. I am trying to keep these packs more primative than say western, but I will include one of each character that can use the weapons that you all might have.

I will release the pack as soon as the characters are finished, but I am still having issues with exporting my animations with milkshape and fragmotion and they are only getting worse, so if some of you would like to help out with the export to fpsc it would help the pack's release go faster. Just drop me an email and in the next couple of days I will send you the models as I need them fpsc ready. The benifit is you get to see the pack before the official release. Thanks.

Here are the fields of wheat and corn. Enjoy!

Ok I have good news and some bad for this pack.

Good news: As soon as Small fish finishes with the model exports, I will release the pack mon or weds this coming week. Maybe tonight all depends on Small fish and myself.

Bad news: Since I am having trouble with exporting my animated files I will have to postpone the remaining tribes until after this thursday(when my computer will be fixed). Please note the problem I am having is not with a virus, it is some of my programs conflicting with windows xp, so my plan is to wipe the drive clean and start from scratch and not put that program back on. I tried to just remove it last night and I almost lost evrything, so I want to get this pack out before I wipe it clean.

Starmind, I've not had much of a chance to play around with this pack properly but it looks great - I love the bear waving at me! When I looked through the zip file I found two zips for Native Americans - how do I use these in game? I tried unzipping them in the entity bank but they didn't seem to work - or are these files that aren't FPSC ready? If that's the case is there anyone here who knows how to make them fpsc ready?

Again - many thanks for this, it's a great release

WoW...just WoW...

Just like CPs Pirate Pack this is is something absolutely new and makes FPSC more than just the nazi-zombie game it used to be.

Thinking of the pirate pack the soldier and flintlock weapons would fit in quite nice

thanks for all the hard work you did!

heres the wolf from the extra models I scripted, fpe, and added frame 21 so the death scene works.

also there is a free leach creature that I made just for fragmotion practice.

!!!!!Note I found an error in the people\deer script and fixed it if you dont want the fix remove the script from the folder before installing else wise just copy the files folder and paste into your c:\program files\the game creators\fps folder.

enjoy and thanks for the native pack its great I'm working on the indian model now....p.s the wolf was done quick so dont expect much I need to study the animate files more.

fpsc uses the fisrt 21 frames for the death scene if you have 20 the model will die and then stand back up and hang that way........lol great work on the models very impressive.
