Important Announcement!

Hello Project Blue Owners,
We all know that production on Project Blue has been very slow. This is because of how much code Project Blue has. The vast features of Project Blue have caused the stability of the mod to crumble do to limitations of DBPro. Now, unfortunately DBPro is not perfect and is certainly not a as flexible as other languages such as C++. I have found that the DBPro code compiler has limits to how large data structures can be (most importantly UDTs), if I were to go past this limit it would cause Project Blue to be uncompilable and unfortunately Project Blue has hit this cap, actually I had to work around the issue to integrate V117 which is why it took me so long.

Unfortunately this work around comes at a cost, and its one that FPSC cannot handle. To continue to add features to Project Blue would force me to use this work around, this work around would consume more virtual memory which we all know that FPSC does not have any to spare.

This post is here to inform you that Project Blue will soon be finalized, I do plan on fixing as many bugs as possible before releasing the official version of Project Blue V1.8 after that Project Blue will still be for sale but will not be receiving updates for now.I would appreciate it if people would post their bug reports here:
http://code.google.com/p/fpsc-project-blue/issues/list

This will allow me to keep track of the bugs easily.

Now in a little bit I will be announcing a new mod, one that will be a "fresh start" and will be going in a different direction then Project Blue.So anyone who has purchased Project Blue from the very beginning to now will be getting a discount (not sure by how much yet).

Hopefully you guys can understand.

Yeah, Kill3r7 always seemed to be...propagating his mod in my opinion.

Looking forward to this. I should be able to buy it soon. As in, VERY soon.

Nice! A new thread! And the new OFFICIAL thread!

When you consider how much is in it and how much time was put into it and all its features its worth the price .

Hey Hockeykid, I am going to be getting PB soon, and I was wondering, is there some kind of manual for it? Like for Fenix Mod?

Why is there a new thread? Did BlackFox and the others hand it completely to you? I have 1.7, I suppose I'll continue to get free updates, even 2.0, to 3.0, etc?

PB is the best FPSC mod and as a user I feel $28 is a very fair price for what you get.

v1.8 is going to be awesome with FPSC v116 and we still have Fenix integration to look forward to.

The prospect of having Dark AI and particles in PB is very exciting.

Project Blue is looking good, I might have to buy it!
I have one question though:
I was using Project Green with Lemur's team deathmatch, but for some reason everyone is against each other even though we are listed as teams.
Any help?

And rather you not post about Project Green in the Project Blue thread . If I recall in Lemur you can still kill team members but you share your kills. (Not sure though)

@All I fixed 12 of the bugs Errant reported to me. I believe there are 4 more and I just need to wait till Errant gets on so he can send me the test files. V1.8 should be out very soon after that

Sorry I shouldn't have posted about that here.
PS I think 28 dollars is quite reasonable, considering what you can do with it. It's like another game engine, except it isn't

I think that 28$ for a mod like this is quite OK. You get something for your money.

28$ at the moment for the mod i believe is unreasonable. I bought it for £17 when it was first released. But bear in mind people the features that will be added (Fenix, Horror). They make it well worth this new price!

@Hockeykid, am i still a registered beta tester, cause i haven't received any beta tests in a while? Or are you still working on the next beta?

Arenas: 28$ is roughly equal to 17£ at current rates.

1$ is not 1£

(edit: my point being that there is no new price)

By writing "28$ at the moment for the mod i believe is unreasonable. I bought it for £17 when it was first released." you implied that 17£ was cheaper than the current rate of 28$

And you end your post by writing "But bear in mind people the features that will be added (Fenix, Horror). They make it well worth this new price!" (bold added by me).

There is no new price. Actually inflation may even have made it a few percent cheaper since PB was originally released

Jeez pete, people! He simply made a new thread so that he can make updates tot he original post on his own.

The rules haven't change. This isn't a different Project Blue from when Black Fox was managing the thread. And, no, the price hasn't changed. The currency in which purchases are made has changed, but the value has remained.

At time of initial release, the cost was £17 which directly converted to ROUGHLY $28. At this current time... no £17 does not equal $28.. according to google conversion, it's about $26.63.... whoopy, big difference there.

Can we please put cost aside? It has been that price since the beginning and it will continue to be that price. I fail to see why you must bring it up right now. Hockeykid has no intention of changing it, and to make claims that it's unreasonable is outlandish. If you feel the price is too high, then don't purchase it. That's the way it is with everything. I feel that Adobe charges way too much for their products, but by Joe, they're still in business! So obviously it's working for them and I have no say in the matter.

Also, yes, you will get a manual with Project Blue. I wouldn't expect anyone to know how to use anything without a proper manual.

I have bought and tested this mod. I can't believe that you can get such a performance!

Do you have a culling system here? In the third level of Canalyst I have about 140000 polygons per frame with Fenix Mod. Here I have only about 30000!

This is a really good mod and I can recommend to buy it.

Best,
TheK

EDIT: I have bought it for 21.14€...

Hope you don't mind me saying, but the bloom and motion blur full screen shaders in 1.7 look poor, were too performance consuming, and too hard to adjust the settings. Hope these get fixed soon.

Cool hockeykid

Marc, V1.16 of FPSC runs incredibly faster then V1.15. I had the same level running in both. It had allot of polygons... In V1.15 it ran at 9fps and in V1.16 it ran at 53fps, huge difference. I hope that this difference in power will mean that full screen shaders work brilliantly in V1.8 of PB UM.

I don't mind. But you do know that you are fully capable of making your own, right?

I made those two specific shaders on my own, as a feat to learning HLSL in the process of making some nice shaders.

If you know of a better motion blur shader than the one I've created (I've been told by many on the DBP boards that it was exactly what a motion blur should look like) let hockeykid know, so he can hand that one out instead. But, making the motion blur more performance friendly is very easy to do. It requires a very small change to the shader code, so that the blur loop goes to a lower number than before.. the blur won't be as smooth, but it won't have as much to do and will run faster.
[EDIT]
I hope you were using the motionblur.fpi script when attempting to use motionblur... It is required for the effect to take place. If you don't use the script, then you won't see the motionblur.

How do you mean that the settings were too hard to adjust? If you're talking about through script.. that's because the script commands to adjust settings must be compatible with any shader given to them. It's no more difficult than creating a HUD, lol. But, yes, it was intentionally made to be something more than "ChangeBloomScale=X" because I wasn't about to hard-code script commands for user-defined full screen shaders. This is the way it is for maximum customize-ability! At least the system in PB doesn't prompt people to say "Why don't you put in a black and white shader? I could use that!!" or "Why don't you add shader X?" It's a hassle and it's just plain clutter in the code to make commands specifically for each and every shader we decide to put in... so, I let the user decide what to put in, and they can deal with the hassle. No more waiting for an update for whatever shader they wanted, or even HOPING the developer wanted to put it in... no more DEALING with the shaders you're given, since you may make your own or edit the existing ones!

I think this is the best way to go, and saves the time of the user as well as the developer.

Well said Plystire.

I think it is best to put the power to the user... It's harder on their end, but you know, if you are unwilling to learn it, then don't expect to live on other people's good will forever.

Sorry, I was a little ambigous there. I meant that there was no explanation as to what the shader commands did (and no references in the manual, which is very outdated). Would it be possible to get a whole list of the shader commands (and possibly what they do too?).
