interesting! I like the lighting you use as well as the textures, I think it would look better if the room was made to be 2 segments tall however.

Bugsy nailed it - the segments look very professional and the lighting in the screens does as well

thanks for the download!

Thanks, I used a technique I saw a tutorial on here(forget who wrote it, and the thread disappeared) where I stack two lights, one with the light color, the other with a larger shadow color. Then I used a nice FSS.

Will update this tomorrow with a new pack. Suggestions are welcomed...and if you were unaware, this is based off The Elder Scrolls look.

With some tunnels?

Noted. Want to add some more content for this area. Maybe some pedestals, coffin like mounds and some crystal structures. I think I cave transition from this would be cool also.

More content for the same segment would be much appreciated - maybe a matching stair or arch?

First post updated, added two more entities. Hopefully I did the .fpe files right...still a newb at this.

If anyone didn't know, all you have to do is unzip the file into your FPSC folder, all files will go to the right folders for you to use.

Moss + plants, have ivy on alpha planes and just place them over the exsisting meshs, buy with a offset gap of a few pixels for a better 3d effect.
Itll give more diversity with little effort. ^__^

I shouldnt be giving out all my notes/tricks lol.

I just tried out everything you uploaded so far and I have to say I really like the style - looks very *Oblivion* indeed and its really cool that you did curved walls instead of the usual ones

However I encountered 2 problems:
- You provided *outer* corners which work great but since the single walls show a nasty gap when forming inner corners a premade inner corner would be a nice addition.
- The column has the standard align when using the "B" key 2x which means its set into the middle of the segment. But since its now mandatory to use it for the corners and since your pictures show allready how nice the look when set into a wall it would be MUCH more convenient if they are aligned into the cross between segments. Honestly, to position them properly is a real pain - even with the "B" key used 1x.

The good news is, that the Oblivion-style blue stone is exactly the light-source I always wanted

Still I would find basic additions like stairs, arches or windows most usefull.

The Storyteller:
I was actually conflicted on what to do about the walls. I could have made the columns with the walls so everything would match-up, or have the columns separate so they could be placed anywhere. I ended up going with them being separate so you could make non-linear looking levels.

The inner wall I left out because I didn't think it would be necessary because of the columns, give me a few minutes and I'll upload one.

As for alignment, I have no idea how to do that, I literally copied the column.fpe from the sci-fi folder and just replaced the model and texture files. I'm still a newb to the scripts and variable files FPSC uses, so if something doesn't turn out right, I'd be grateful if peps posted politically correct ones. I'd very much benefit from it.(honestly didn't know you could snap to the grid...that makes placing objects so much easier!!)

I should really read some help files, lol!

Now you can see why these are free.

First post updated, new updated download with new corner piece and fixed textures.

Still getting weird lightmap issues. Wonder if it's my models, or the lightmapper itself...wonder if it has to do with the fpe/fps files as well

Probably your ligth map quality,
If you go to your setup ini. (located in your FPSC directory)
You will find something like this

What you want to do is change the lightmapquality to a higher number, I work with about 70,

Hope this helps dude!

Lol, your like me. I have my normal library of sketch books with random ideas and what not. Then I have my library of just theory's, techniques, random stuff that deal with creating 3d-2d anything.

Then there are the 20gigs worth of reference images all over my computer.

Dr Parsnips:
Thanks for the tips! Everything looks so much more professional with the lighting technique and the lightmapping turned up. Played around with the setting and 70 is a good number. Take a gander.

Showoff:

Now I'm more pumped to make some more segs and objects for this. My sci-fi media is on hold while I redesign it as I ran into some issues with FPSC and my models(go figure). Actually had another Idea for something, secret for now, no peaking at my secret idea book.

P.S. Sorry for the double post, had to showoff.

Well the other day I was playing this game, roughly 16 years old, and it got me to thinking about how it would look with updated graphics and in first person. So I started designing it. The basic design is Demonic vs Angelic forces in a Gothic theme(you can probably guess what it is).

Still in the design phase. Wont post anything till I have something decent to show.

Yah, I'm really enjoying building media for FPSC. Never knew it was this versatile(is that the right word?). I've also come up with a pretty nice pipeline to work with. This brazier entity only took roughly 2hours to model, unwrap, texture and import into FPSC. I deserve a pint. *grabs a pint*

I'm thinking a few more models, then on to my next project. Maybe something that pays.

P.S. A little cool fun factoid: The Elder media has been downloaded 104 times as of March 30th since March 25th.

133 download Actually quite surprised, makes me wonder how many I would have had if I charged for it.

Sorry for not updating, work has been h - e - double hockey sticks the past few days. For some dang reason we were shipped $8000 worth of ice cream and I had to deal with it...

Will have time tomorrow to add a few more models, then starting my next set of media. Getting better at this whole FPSC thing, and I have a small game in the works to help showcase my media.

Very welcome. I enjoy building in 3d, makes me feel accomplished.

Ah, and if you didn't know, the bars and wood are meant to go with the arch entity. Though they can be used separate if used correctly.

Wow- those new pieces are great work again!

Let me add, that you really are doing something special here.

We see a lot of posts each month that start exactly like yours:
a well-done segment with some good texture and mouth-watering screens - and after 2 weeks, a lot of promises & announcements and 100 downloads the OP lost interest in his project.
And we where stuck with much to less to build somthing usefull.

But you on the opposite have allready created enough HQ pieces, so that ACTUALLY using your design for a level does makes sense.

So let me thank you - not only for the quality of your (free!) models but also for your dedication. If you ever go *pro* I wish you all the success you can have.

Thanks for the kind words, means a lot to me.

Started to actually make content to put into these levels. Here's the first set. Plan on making a bunch of random 'Elder Scroll' type items to throw in here.

First post updated.

Right now I'm making a set of books. Building several texture variations. Is it possible to just have one book model, then have multiple textures that I can choose from in the FPSC editor? I'd hate to make 10+ FPE files just for different colored books.

Edit: Nvm, I found how you can change textures in the editor.
