I have completed considerable progress on a Battle System, and was looking for a couple testers. So I'd decided to post my next update here(Its not quite enough for a WIP, Yet I'm looking for some critism, where else was I to post?). The battle system is really starting to come together, but I'd like someone to critique my work so far, make some suggestions....etc. And Yes, i'll post a screenie. The only controls are the arrow keys to navigate the menu,enter to select. Please help me test it!

Added Text Log of in battle events! (Whew!)
Added 'Loading Screen'.
Lots of small Speedups and minor fixes.

It looks very polished actually. The black line edges of the sprites are a little annoying but pass. What did bother me was that after about 10 attacks the enemy was out of the screen (it kept moving to the right each turn).
When both players were dead, the lvl 3 enemy kept attacking (I killed the remaining 2), but I guess this is to be expected for a demo. But actually, the last enemy standing occasionally attacked the dead player as well as the remaining player. So I think that one's a bug.

I like the animations and the scream though :-P

Wait till you see the spells/specials i'm planning.

Yeah the AI needs some touching up, I kinnda knew but well.......

Thanks, I'll need a voice actor cuz those are from king of fighters and Mugen....

Oh, and at the beginning, That voice that says conflict start is NOT me.........

Well it was quite annoying I couldn't use any potion and had to watch my lvl 3 get killed...
I was mainly impressed by the animations of the attack. You really get the feeling of the guy jumping at that enemy.

It was only obvious after playing it after a while though.

I don't have to. The screenshot you posted has them as well. The white haired guy has a line just right of the tip of his hair, a line at the right edge of the sprite, and one more just right of his foot on the left.

Well good luck. I could tell they were from another game or anime (it being japanese gave me a hint :-P), but it was a nice extra to liven up the action a little.

Hey, I have to say that all the problems sven b said, were the same for me (except i didn't notice the black lines). In addiation, i feel the sprite should disappear quicker and the miss or hit should bounce maybe a little faster, but other then that, it was great. Keep up the good work

ah! you're planning to use Laharl, Etna, Flonne and the others chars of Disgaia? you can even rip Disgaia2 and 3!

Because Derekioh didn't see the borders I decided to give it another go. I did see the borders again though.

Anyways, because I only had to kill only one enemy this time, I managed to win this battle.
The first time it didn't really bother me, but the rotating sprite with text (battlemode activated or something) isn't centered. I don't know if this is supposed to happen (as it was at the exact spot of the characters), but to me it looked more like a bug than an intentional feature. When the battle had ended, the rotating sprite showed up again with the activating battle mode thing, which seemed like a bug too. The flickering text at the end looked a little bit uncontrolled to me too.
You're never wrong when choosing Final Fantasy music though.

Thanks! Yeah, i didnt notice the black lines either, i'll test on a few differant PCs and see what I get.

Of course I'm adding Laharal to teh party! He's the most bada$$ Demon of all the games! You are looking at a Diehard Disgaea Fan. I'm Gonna Rip These characters(Myself! My psp's got CFW, with a Ripping app for psp games!):Laharal,Adell,Flonne,Mao(heheh....),and Rozlyn. The reason so few is because well i'm keeping the party max at 8, and you'll have three custom chars(You'll be able to choose any type!). GO DISGAEA!

Hmmm........Those are bugs! I'd thought i'd center them with Screen Width/2 and Height/2 but......well, darn. and its not supposed to come back when you beat the conflict.....

Looking great so far, I like the motion blur behind the sprites when they move in for the attack . Maybe you could change the alpha so that the blur sprites are semi-transparent? I think it might look more like blur that way.

I also loved the sounds and animations . For the text log though, I sometimes found it a little hard to read. Maybe you could use different colors for different things? (ex. yellow for getting ready to attack, green for attacking, etc.) It may or may not help, but it's just a suggestion. Great job so far though, I look forward to seeing this expand!

Yeah this ran thru my mind, I'm gonna give the log a background cuz it doesnt look right with all the differant colors, i'll try it again with the bg tho, that may look better. Thanks!

It already is expanding! I've got an Item Editor(Just need a GUI for it,it's functional), Character Editor/Creator,Map Editor, and i'm planning an 'event' editor as well. Compared to the other areas, i've barely worked on the battle system.
